  1. Congradulations !!! I am waiting on my confirmation as well. It's a new resort so don't know if their salon will be good and I am worried about the make-up and hairdo. Are other brides to be going to do your own makeup and hair? I am thinking of flying someone to the resort, but it's just soooooooooo expensive to pay for their fee, hotel, and airefare.
I was super nervous about the hair and makeup but I had it done at the hotel and she did a great job!!!
  2. 14 days until my wedding day and 12 days left until we leave!! I had my first nightmare last night about missing the plane and issues at the airport! I am starting to get sooo excited and am hoping the weather holds out for us. I called the airline to give them a heads up about about my dress and they did not seem to know what to do. They told me my dress would be considered my carry on, not my personal item and I would only have a place to store it if the plane has a closet(which they could not tell me) and if the airline stewardesses were accommodating. I was a little annoyed by this. They even suggested I put it in a box and put it in with checked luggage!! I was appalled! Can any other bride share there plane experience with me so I know what to expect. Thanks ladies!
So on my plane they did not have a closet so I just looked in the overhead bins for one that had small carry ons and just layed my dress over the top of them all and it did get a little bit squished but I had a girlfriend bring her mini clothes steamer and she just steamed it before the wedding and it worked out just fine. You can also have the hotel steam and press it I believe it was around $25 to do that there
  3. Hello ladies, it has been quite a while since we've seen the updated list of who is getting married when.  We are on July 14, 2013.  ANyone else around that time? Also wondering...do we have to feed the photographer?
You should definitely feed the photographer... They have a vendor meal that you can ask your wedding coordinator to have for them it's a sandwich, soda, and chips I believe.
  4. As my wedding day gets closer I have started to check the weather like a mad woman. Right now it's not looking good for me = ( they are showing rain 3 days leading up to the wedding and rain on my wedding day. I'm hoping it will change beings that it is 15 days out, but do any brides know of alternative ceremony locations at the resort? I never really asked, I have seen reception locations but not ceremony locations. Ugh I will be soooooo bummed if it rains the whole trip!! I'm not the type of bride who minds rain, just not every single day!
So the alternative ceremony is at the garden rooftop lounge which is cute! The reception alternative locations are just normal banquet rooms.
  5. Hi! So we got 6 strings of Christmas lights that were 25ft each and they worked great!! I would def still get the lights for the lanterns they just make the lanterns look so much prettier!! We used black organza bows on the reception chairs with the white satin chair covers they provide and we used bright pink organza bows on the ceremony chairs and I really liked the way it looked a lot. Also I would bring recipes for everything as a just in case I just kept them in a folder so I would have easy access to them while going trough customs hope this helps!
    receipts lol!!
  6. Hi Ladies, I am getting married August 31, 2013 and I am trying to purchase my decorations. For the chair sashes, are they supposed to be organza or satin? I am bringing alot of decorations myself and I will just pay the 250 dollar set up fee. I know when you go thru customs you are supposed to show receipts but most of the stuff I am ordering online, will this be a problem? Do I need to print the email confirmations? Also what type of fabric do I need for the Gazebo on the sky deck and what size fabric do I get? And Finally what length christmas lights do I get for the poles at Zavaz Plaza for the reception. Oh and one more thing...I ordered the Chinese hanging lanterns. If I have Christmas lights on the 6 poles do I still need the lights inside of the hanging lanterns?  I know I am asking alot of questions. I am so last minute and trying ti know everything out this month. Thank you guys for any help that you can provide

  7. How much time do most people need for photos? I am trying to decide on one of the photo packages. One hour doesn't seem enough but 4 hours is very expensive. Opinions, please.
I think you will definitely want more than an hour... We had 7 hours and it was great because she got shots of me getting ready with my bridesmaids, then did a first look with my husband and I , then a bunch with family and bridal party, the ceremony, then during cocktail hour we did a bunch of just my husband and I , and 2 hours of the reception so I had a whole bunch of different locations which was awesome.. An hour goes by fast so u might be disappointed with just that!
  8. Hello my lovely ladies!!! We are back after an amazing two week stay in Mexico!!! We stayed at the AS the first week for our wedding on May 18th, and then transferred to El Dorado Casitas Royale for another week for our honeymoon. I will eventually get to the long detailed review & planning journal, but wanted to say we had the BEST TIME OF OUR LIVES in Mexico!! First & foremost, a very HUGE thank you to everyone on here for their endless support and advice over the past year! I am so grateful to have made many friends through here, and especially to my fellow bride MISSY who I spent lots of time with during our stay! You are all amazing and thank you for being a wonderful support system! Our wedding day was the most memorable day of our lives, and the AS went above & beyond!!!! The resort's staff was exceptional in service and amazingly kind!!  This was absolutely the best idea my FI had, was to have this DW. I'm so grateful! Here are a few shots I wanted to share with you all =) More to come with the review & planning journal!! To all soon to be brides, don't stress about anything!  It's an amazing place with knowledgeable and talented staff seeing that your day will be amazing! LL My father giving me away! *   LL WE DO!!!! LL  our first dance  [reception was on the beach] LL  cocktail hour on the beach with mariachi band
Love the pics you posted!!!! Will def be posting a full review soon once I have caught up with work ( not awesome to be back at work lol! ) was amazing meeting u and spending time with u as well
  9. Im sure this has been discussed but as I am working on details of planning some questions have come up:)  Im starting to have anxiety about packing things..lol..I know im less than 6mos. away, but I am a planner.  For those of you that did welcome bags, how did you pack them.  did you wait till you got there to put the items in the bags??  also, many of you have said there is not an issue when travelling with so much stuff, but If i chose to divide up my stuff to some of my family members to travel with, will they all be stopped and asked why they have maracas, candles, etc.???  I know someone mentioned showing reciepts to the staff in the airport, but if I divide up the stuff will everyone need to show reciepts??  Thanks for the help:)  also, when is the meeting usually scheduled with the wedding coordinators at the resort?  We want to schedule some things and Im afraid they will mess up my meeting.
Hi! So we just got back from our wedding and I was really worried about those things as well. I did have my mom and my MOH take the jewelry for the bridesmaids and I gave them receipts but they didn't have anything checked. When my husband and I got there they asked if we had any gifts and we told them about some stuff but they never asked for receipts but we did have them just in case!! it was actually really easy going through customs. We packed all the stuff for the welcome bags and then just put them together when we got there and it was way easier that way. We did have an issue with the coordinator meeting but they fixed it. You don't find out when your meeting is until the day you arrive and they had scheduled it during my hair trial. They wouldn't change it at first but after a few phone calls they did so it worked out. I would make your appointments and specifically ask your wedding coordinator you are working with now to make sure they let the coordinator in Mexico when your appointments are. Everything was amazing so just relax and know you are going to have the time of your life!!!!
  10. Just got back today from my wedding and it was AMAZING!!! Will send a full report tomorrow but wanted you to know I have an extremely sensitive stomach and i was completely fine there!!the food is great i was so happy qith it and so were all of my guests....i did take pepto bismal pills with me and every once in a while i took one and i had no issues!! quote name="april9639" url="/t/23412/azul-sensatori-brides-post-here/16500#post_1907947"]Hi ladies! My wedding is almost 30 days away and I am getting sooo excited!! To all past brides has anyone had any issues with gettin sick from the food or have any guests complain about getting sick? I know it's gormet inclusive so I was hoping this is not the case. I have a few guests that swear they will get dissentary while in Mexico. I also had a co-worker who's husband is a dr and the go to all of the Karisma and eldorado resorts and reccomend going to the dr to get a provenative antibiotic to help fight any foreign bacteria. Let me know your expiernced and thoughts!! Thanks!

  11. I'm starting to think about this also... Our reception is 6-10, 4 hours long as well!
So we don't have an exact time line but our reception starts at 7 and we are going to have the dj announce our wedding party and then us .... Right after we walk in he will announce our first dance and then do the father daughter dance and then the mother son dance .... Then about 20 minutes of everyone dancing and when the first course is served we will have the dj announce the speeches for maid of honor and best man .... Not sure about the cake cutting probably a few minutes before dessert is served though ... Definitely want to get the dances and speeches done right in the beginning though so the rest of the night we can just relax and party!!
  12. I haven't decided for sure yet. I have to see how much his assistant does and if he stays the whole time, etc. I would feel awkward giving his assistant something and not him so I'm probably giving either both or neither. I guess it will depend on how happy I am with their work. More than likely I will have tip money ready for them bc I do think they will do a great job. I dunno... The whole tip thing is so hard! Lol I am a big tipper and believe in tipping well so I don't want to miss anyone :/
Ya am def gonna have money ready as well... I certainly don't want to under tip anyone and I've heard really good things about doremixx... But yeah if the assistant is literally just there for a few minutes to set up am not sure I would tip him ... As for the dj though I think I will for sure give him something... I cocktail waitressed for so long that I just always want to make sure people are properly tipped :-) I think I will probably not tip the minister though but give something to the wedding coordinator if they do a great job and definitely extra to the servers and bartenders
  13. Now that it is officially May, I am wrapping up my pre-travel mailers and getting them ready to send out tomorrow. (My wedding is June 28, but there is one thing I want my guests to really enjoy for a few weeks before the wedding!) Included in my mailer: -a double sided "notecard" that I designed myself and printed through Vistaprint for free with info about traveling, etc -a magnet to hold the notecard to the fridge (I also designed this myself and printed through Vistaprint for free) -a CD with a compilation of "Get Ready!" songs chosen by the wedding party in a DIY "case" that I made from left over kraft paper cards -2 DIY Luggage tags/person (here is the link to my luggage tags: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/84974/my-diy-luggage-tags-with-pics Thankfully, there are only 30 of us total and most of the guests are couples, so I really only had to make about 15 mailers. This helped- otherwise price and time devoted to this project could start to add up. However, I printed some of the things on Vistaprint for free, I had 10 blank CD's (so I only had to buy a few), and I used left over kraft paper cards/envelopes for the CD case and the actual mailer envelope. The supplies for the luggage tags weren't really that expensive, either! Anyway.. on with the pics! Contents of Mailer: LL Close up of front of CD case: LL Back of CD case: (sorry the picture quality is awful) LL Here is the file so you can actually see what the songs are: LL And this is the front: LL Front of note card: LL Back of the note card: LL Close up of luggage tag front: (the magnet looks just like this as well) LL Close up of luggage tag back: LL Front of the envelope: LL Back of the envelope: LL Here is just a quick snapshot of all the envelopes: LL What do ya'll think? I think the guests will really like the CD. It's an idea I got from this forum and as soon as I saw it, I just knew I wanted to do it.  Happy Planing, ladies! Any questions, just let me know! -Megan
So cute!!! You are so creative :-)
  14. Thank you so much for the nice compliment!  It was very windy up on the sky deck.  It seems to always be windy there but it's how my "husband" wanted it and I agreed to let him have this one request :)   Half up/half down probably would have been a bit more comfortable given the wind.
Thanks for the info!! Forgot to ask before but was it windy by plaza zavez for the reception?
  15. is anyone feeling stressed and ready to cancel their wedding because people are saying it is too much money. is anyone funning into flights being sooooo expensive right now! sorry to vent :(
Don't worry about people saying things like that!! This is YOUR wedding and you deserve to do it just the way u want to!! I totally understand though , some of my fiance's friends were texting him about how expensive it was going to be which honest is just pretty rude to complain to the bride or groom. We knew when we did destination that not everyone was going to be able to make it because of financial reasons and we were ok with that because this is what we really wanted for our wedding. If people can't make it because of money reasons then they should just decline politely and not complain about it , that's just not cool. And flights totally are expensive right now which is super annoying!!!! Vent anytime that's what we are here for ;-)

I know we keep talking tips, but I still have questions. Did any of you tip your WC that's in Miami and/or your travel agent? I was thinking of maybe sending them a basket of goodies, or bouquet of flowers as a thank you. What's the etiquette for servers at the wedding reception? Do you tip your on-site team? Hm... I'm trying to get an idea of how much extra cash to bring for tips, besides the every day maid/bartender/server money. thanks :)

Hi! So I emailed my W.C. about that and she said that gratuity is included in the price of the wedding but that for the on site W.C. and the minister you can give them $20- $50 each and the servers and bartenders a couple of dollars each as well extra if you would like . Also the D.J. usually gets about 20% if he does a good job as well. If you find out any more info on this subject though def let me know Ive been wondering the same thing :-)

Those are beautiful wedding pictures Dawn! I'm joining as you're "finishing" up your wedding. I just reserved Azull Sensatori for May 17, 2014. I can't wait to read all of your tips and those of other helpful brides. Congratulations!
Hi!!im may 17th 2013!! 2 weeks away so crazy!! I will definitely be posting about my wedding but if u have any questions feel free to message me :-)
  19. Ladies, I'm sitting here on the patio of my room... It's my last day and I'm bummed to be leaving.  I was married on Friday and it was amazing!  I will concur with so many other past brides that said.... Don't sweat the details!  They have it down!  This place is amazing and all of my 57 guests had the time of their lives! I brought down A Lot of stuff and my set up fee was a bit more than I expected. $250 for everything.  I was planning on $150 like I heard so many times on this forum... guess I overdid it a little.  We had the sky wedding which was beautiful but very windy.  I would recommend it if it fits in your budget, but the zocalo beach gazebo was beautiful too. I'm from California and apparently we tip a lot.  I had a hard time not tipping and it really added up for us.  I'm sure I overdid it but I figure they deserve it.  You definitely get better drinks when you take care of the bartenders. I'm going to be selling some stuff after I return, so be on the lookout if you see something you like in my pics. My reception was at Plaza Zavas and i recommend it. If you have any questions feel free to ask.  I gained so much from this forum and wouldn't have had the wedding I had if not for it.  Now I want to share my experiences to help future brides. here are some photos... I see you have your hair down and I am wondering how that was for you, was it very windy? I am trying to decide between half up and half down or up completely and having a hard time. Thanks!
