  1. Bare with me guys... I've been super busy and have not been able to log in and mingly with you guys lol!!

My colors were originally coral and mint also, but now it's more pink and mint bc it's impossible to find anything coral on Long Island apparently. I'm having gold accents and also want NOWE009 all white but add a Few pink to accent it... Love the idea of adding fake flowers, cannot wait to see your photos!!

I love the pink and gold with the coral!! I will def put up pics of how mine turns out but cant wait to see yours!!!

February 2015 bride here!  Did you girls bring a lot of your supplies like sky lanterns, table linens, napkins, centerpieces or use the resorts?   Did you have assigned seating arrangements?

Congrats!!! I am bringing chair sashes, table runners, my own centerpieces, straws, programs, fans, bubbles, im making a "take-a-photo guestbook" so ill br bringing props as well. I'm thinking of doing a cute/simple pin-up seating chart for everyone b/c I'm only having about 20 ppl coming.

Hi everyone. I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Lori and I'm getting married at the Now Jade on May 8, 2014 (Eek! So soon!!). I read this forum often, but I'm such a procrastinator that it started giving me heart palpitations because brides getting married a year after me were so much further in their planning that I was haha. I am now all caught up and was hoping to hear from some of the brides who will be there from May 3rd-10th. I have a group of 53 people joining me. The majority of the group is in their 30s. My biggest concern about the Now Jade from the inception of booking was the lack of liveliness during the day (that was not catered towards families and children) as well as the lack of nightlife. My group is no by means looking for a Spring Break in Cancun atmosphere, but can certainly be a fun and boisterous crowd. I'm sure between 50 of us, we'll be able to create our own fun, but would love to hear from previous brides regarding the atmosphere at the main pool during the day and the sports bar/disco at night or brides or brides who will be down there with me with a similar concern. I would just hate for my guests to pay all of this money to be kind of bored (but nonetheless bored in paradise!). While the TripAdvisor reviews all speak to the activities at the main pool, none really talk about music playing or fun at the pool bar or the dancing at night or anything.

Congrats!!! And trust me I am a procrastinator as well!! I have read several reviews that the resort has daily activities for the guests so I really wouldnt worry about your guests being bored I am sure they were enjoy it ALL!!! Btw cant wait to see your pics and review!

I'm getting married at Now Jade 4/18/15!  Did the wedding planners work with you on crediting items included in the package that you didn't need?  Does anyone have pros and cons of the ceremony, cocktail hour site, and reception site?  What do you think the best rehearsal dinner option is?  We are having about 70 guests.  Thank you!!

Congrats on your wedding!!! I have not really asked for credits on my package but instead have tried to use the items towards other days: for example i am having an outside photographer so I asked if the photographer in the divine package can be used for a trash the dress on another day, I am also having an outside make-up and hair dresser come in so I am giving my mom the hair/makeup provided in the divine package to my mom, etc. I think that it is easier for them to try and accomadate you on another day for items in your package then to credit something back to you... :( i would prefer the credit lol

As for the rehearsal dinner- I am having it in the buffet restaurant b/c there is no charge and they will reserve tables for you. :) Good luck with everything!

Hey everyone! I just had my wedding last Saturday, 4/19. I am writing up a review but if anyone has any questions let me know. I'd love to share any info!

Hi Adrianne, Unfortunately, they don't really credit items from the packages. I tried to credit a couple things or switch them out for others and I had no luck...but it's always worth a shot! I just had my wedding last Saturday 4/19. We had the pergola for the ceremony, the blue bar for the cocktail hour, and the bamboo room for my reception. I'm so happy I choose these spots, they were absolutely beautiful! I would check though if they would work for your size of group because we only had 23 guests. We also just had our rehearsal in Carnival which is the buffet because it was the only option that would not cost for us. The other restaurants cost around $20-$30 per person. Good luck with the planning!

Congrats Megan I cant wait to see your picures and review!!!!

You could really go either way with a smaller group and especially smaller population of young adults....

We are doing the full reception with DJ, even extending it to a 4th hour. It could end up being money not wisely spent, but at the same time if we are having a great time and it ends prematurely I'll regret not doing it. It's our wedding, something I only plan on doing once (knock on wood, lol) so I don't want to leave anything to chance. I'll spend the money and see what happens.

Completely can't fault you for wanting to do it the way you mentioned either though. I could definitely see a scenario where the dj is pumping the music out to a small handful of people. My hope is that with the smaller group (and enough liquor) people who normally wouldn't dance much at larger weddings in front of more strangers will let loose and get out on the floor.... we will see though!

The wedding is coming in a week and a half, so I'll gladly report back to you with my results!

Congrats!! I am also cuffing up the money for the DJ... my fiancee just wasnt into the whole wedding app... although i have read many reviews that brides LOVED IT!!

I cant wait to see your pictures and review!!!

How far in advance did everyone send out their invitations? Also did u include the food options in the invitations for them to choose? I assume we have to let the hotel know in advance what everyone plans to eat?

I sent my Save the Dates about a year in advance and the invites about 6 months in advance. I did not include food options b/c I was told it would be one set meal for everyone.  Although i did have some guests chose a different entree due to allergies and the wedding coordinator was helpful about that.

(Sorry for all these replies lol)

  2. which bouquet did you like from the package options? I also liked some but my colors are purple and lime green and the purple option she showed me was roses and a very gloomy looking purple lol not what i expected so im very nervous. I did look at afloral.com but im nervous about them looking really fake and cheesy. What are you colors ? And are you requesting specific flowers or just what the package ones are?

I liked NOWE009 its on the guide under the NOW to Eternity Bouquets. My colors are coral and mint. My plan is to ask for them all in white and just add afloral orchids and lilies in the colors coral.

And i actually found out about afloral.com on forums here- I was skeptical of how they would look since they are fake but after seeing pictures the ladies on here use them for DIY centerpieces, bouquets, etc.  I was sold; I just ordered a batch so I’ll let post how they feel and look.

  3. Hey Ladies,

So i was quoted for the DJ $350 per hour... so I was planning on hiring the DJ for 3 hours meaning $1,050.00. But as I was looking at the NJ Wedding Guide I saw that it said DJ $1,000 for 4 hours.  Now the 4 hours seems like the better deal... could i use the DJ for the Cocktail hour, which is in the Mix Bar, and then the reception in the Bamboo Room?? Did anyone else get quoted the same?

    Thanks girls!

    Annette

    Hey Ladies,

so quick question for those of you doing a TTD session, where did you buy your makeup? I purchased mascara and eyeliner from bobby brown but it isnt very "waterproof" . I think i will return it and try something else. I read somewhere that sephora has a good eyeliner that doesnt come off but i need mascara too. Thoughts?

Also, whats everyone doing as far as bridal bouquets? I only like a few of the options they offer and our colors are purple and lime green . My wedding coordinator showed me a sample bouquet but i hated it! LOL it was like an ugly purple rose with light pink roses. I want something with bright purple flowers! I love orchids but i know this is way too expensive since they are imported.

So as far as waterproof make-up... I was just going to purchase anything that said "Waterproof" lol but if you did that already and they were really "waterproof" then I'll probably purchase a couple of things and let you know how it works out.

For bridal bouquet I decided to go with one of their options i saw... I actually have the Divine Package but I saw a sample on their guide from the Eternity package that i liked and i was going to order a couple of flowers from afloral.com and add them on. I'm actually making a couple of

boutonnieres for the groomsmen and the bridemaid bouquets using afloral.com. Check them out! :)

  4. Hey ladies,

so jeez my day is literally around the corner!!! and i must say I AM VERY EXCITED! I'm still purchasing extras for the doecoration and welcome bags.  I have a question has anyone worked with Fernando Hernandez as their wedding coordinator?? I was just wondering since i knew Pilar was away for a while for maternity leave.... just want to make sure I'm getting someone on top of things!

  5. Hey Ladies!

So I am getting anxious/nervous/excited, etc!! my wedding is on May 31st and i am literally trying to get my welcome bags, deocrations, and all my DIY projects together NOW! i am only having about 20 ppl going... I am getting nervous b/c I've had a couple of people text me that they migth be going so idk if i should take them serious or not... <_<

I am thinking about doing my "photobooth" with a couple of things i found on oriental trading... but i was wondering if they let you place anything on the walls... I was thinking about purchasing a drop down as a background?? has any of the past brides done this??? Well happy planning all!!!

PS; as soon as i finish with my DIYs I will def add it to my wedding planning thread for all you to see!!!

  6. Anyone else have pictures of reception table decor? Looking for some ideas!!

Or does anyone have any ideas where to get flowers for cheap for chair decorations? I already bought the sash in coral. Now just looking for flowers.

try bbcrafts.com i saw chair sashes and table runners that were very affortable!!!

oops sorry i misread that! i thought you were looking for chair sashes lol!!! oopsss. i bought flowers at AC Moore and i had coupon and spent a pretty decent amount!

  7. My bridesmaids also are wearing coral dresses and they are wearing sandals that I found on 6pm.com ... The shoe is the Gabriella Rocha Dilia and I got it in a nude color which I thought looked really pretty with the coral. Plus is was SUPER cheap, $14.99.  There is also a coral option that I ordered for myself to wear with my wedding dress.  I just thought we would all be more comfortable in sandals instead of heels!

I had good luck finding a nice pair of shoes from zappos.com!

thanks girls!! i will def check these sites out!!

So now, here we go, my back and married post because today I am having the post wedding blues because it is over and I am sad lol.

It was beautiful. They are doing a really great job! There were a few minor issues but nothing that I would say "God, they really messed up".

We met Pilar the day we arrived (Saturday). She knows what she is doing and when she saw how I had everything prepared, she asked if I wanted to move to Mexico, she would hire me lol. I had everything in labeled bags and pictures of how I wanted it to make it idiot proof. Yes, I am controlling hehe. Anyway, she saw my seating chart and asked if I really wanted to use Castaways or if I was open to switching to the Bamboo Room because it would work better for our group. So we walked over to both locations and she was right. The Bamboo Room is beautiful and it was an easy decision for us. As for the payment. I had called my bank and they told me they would charge 3% foreign transaction fee. I remember we had the discussion here, which made me look at our statement from the deposit where we didn't pay the fee. So in my mind, there had to be a way around it. So I asked Pilar if we could pay the way we payed for the deposit. She told me it would be a different compartment but she would ask. She did, we payed and voila, 90 bucks in our pocket. :)

On Sunday we had our welcome party, where we planned trips. That day I had my hair and make up trial. Holy cow, was I glad I did it. They use SO much make up. I am only 30 and you could see the wrinkles around my eyes because the make up was so heavy. So the day of I knew I had to tell them only eye make up, I take care of the rest. The hair trial was great. She didn't use my extensions but I got the point how it would look which was what I wanted to get out of the trial. I forgot who I had but she was sweet. Unfortunately, she barely spoke English, so when I tried to tell her she could use the fake eye lashes because I had more of them, she didn't understand and kept telling me we would use those on Wednesday. Somehow I managed to tell her "Tengo mas para Wednesday" and THEN she understood. The eye make up was good but my husband didn't really like it, possibly because the rest of the make up was so heavy. The day of though he loved it. :)

Due to our trips we had to do rehearsal dinner the day of our bach parties right beforehand. So rehearsal dinner wasn't right after but the night before the wedding. We had it arranged at the buffet (my husband didn't like the buffet but he thought the restaurant food was good - I am less picky and was fine with buffet lol) but when we got there it was closed. Uhm. Ok? So we had a group of 21 people and nowhere to go. We ended up at the show buffet but the show was terrible and we couldn't all sit together, so there went the rehearsal dinner. Oh well.

The day of we woke up at around 10am, ordered room service, and then went to the pool for like half an hour to see if somebody else was there from our group. I had to leave at like 11:15am because I wanted to be at the Spa at 12:30pm. For some reason I had no motivation. The weather wasn't particularly nice, so I got coffee at Coco and sat a little on the balcony just to relax. Of course then I ran into time problems lol because I still had to iron my bridal robe and I had a bride application for a white top that I still had to iron on. Once that was done I had like 20 minutes left to shower and blow dry my hair. Oh, and of course I had forgotten to do my eye brows beforehand so that needed to be taken care of as well. Anyway, it all worked out. At 12:20 my one bridesmaid came to bring all the dresses, while another was getting the flowers from the hotel entrance (they turned out beautifully!!!). We all got ready and everyone was happy with their hair and my make up was amazing as well! I felt so pretty. ;)

We decided to check on the decorations and while we were walking towards the Bamboo Room, I heard someone yell "Nicole?" We turned around and Sascha Gluck took the first picture. HE IS SO INCREDIBLY AWESOME! He was there super early, and hands down, was probably the best decision we made. We got a teaser pic already and wowsa, it is amazing! So after we checked the room, we walked back to my room and some of the girls did their make up, while my one bridesmaid tried to cover up the bug bites my MOH had. Holy shit batman, she looked terrible! Make sure you use some kind of bug spray at night! She ended up having to go to a doctor and got a shot in her bum because it got so bad. We ordered room service while we were at the Spa, so it came shortly after we got to the room. Then Sascha arrived and everything becomes a blur. Time ran by so fast. All I remember is we took all pics I wanted (and trust me, the lit was quite comprehensive, poor guy!) and at some point I realized, damn it, I am not wearing my earrings yet lol. Quickly it turned 4:45pm and we walked downstairs. We wanted to take pics at the bar but one of my bridesmaids checked the lobby first and thank God she did. Everyone was still there. But I was able to hide. Phew. Once they were gone, we took a few pics, none at the bar, but that is more than ok. :)

When the bridesmaids walked in, I realized they played the wrong song but oh so be it. They played the right song for me so I was like eff it. ;) When I got to my husband he told me that I chose the most beautiful dress and that my make up looked perfectly. I love this man! ;) After that we just cracked up, because the minister was TERRIBLE. All he had to do was read the script I had provided but apparently that was really difficult lol. It didn't matter to us - we thought it was so bad that it was just funny. We walked out to LMFAO with sunglasses on and that was FUN!

After the ceremony the sky turned dark grey. I just looked at Sascha and asked him, "It is gonna rain isn't it?" But he told me that it wouldn't. I trusted his judgment and it didn't. They know how to read the weather! So we took all kinds of pics, and Sascha made sure he took all the pics he wanted (he had the list on his phone lol). I lost my veil all the time because people stepped on it or it got caught somewhere but on this day, nothing mattered. I was in 7th heaven. <3

We saw a few pics on Sascha's camera and even without retouching them, they looked phenomenal. Can't wait to receive them!

Then it was reception time. I snuck into the room right beforehand to make sure everything was how I wanted it. It looked amazing. They did a great job! All I had to do was tell them the cake topper is missing and the memory candle needs to be lit. But that was it. :)

The next 3 hours went by so quickly. The waiters were awesome. Nobody was ever without a drink. The food was eh ok. We had the shrimp and scallops with lime vinaigrette (wasn't great), then I don't remember the second course but the steak was fine. And boy, the wedding cake was amazing! We had the cake testing the day after we arrived and it was a close call but we were happy with the almond and raspberry filling. :) We had wedding cake for the rest of our time there hehe. :)

At 10 we ended the night with "Don't Stop Believing" and it was just amazing. After that we went to the sports bar and had the after party. We changed clothes though because as much as I loved my dress, I got really hot. ;) A piece of advice if you go for a princess gown: The petticoat was a life saver!

All in all, I cannot wait to see the pics and video. It was truly one of the best days of our life and I will never forget it! If you have any doubts on your mind - don't! They know what they are doing! :)
