Does anyone know if we are allowed to bring our own candles to put on the tables in the banquet rooms? I have bought tealights to put in our personalized tealight holder that I am worried that we are not allowed to light. Should we be bringing battery tealight candles? Thank you!

Anyone else going to be getting married between October 6-13, 2013? Our wedding day is October 10 but would love to meet up for a drink or a high five.

We are going to be at the Royal Cancun for our honeymoon from October 13-20 if anyone is going to be there (wedding/honeymoon?) and I would love to meet up for a drink? Would love to meet a fellow destination wedding blogger

Finally got in touch with someone and booked our date! On October 10, 2013 at 4:00 I will be a bride! So excited. We decided to go with the Mint Breeze package.

I am using a travel agent to book all of our travel. I had to pay a deposit on ten rooms at the hotel to lock in our group rate. We have 90 days to pay our full payment (end of March) even though our wedding isn't until October. It is cheaper to book through expedia or Travelocity but then your guests are all flying separately and arriving on different days or at different times. It was important to me that we all fly together on the same plane and that we had direct flights. If you don't care about traveling with your group, or have connecting flights, then I would definitely just let everyone book separately via the internet. It's definitely cheaper. I also want my guests to be situated together in the hotel and can only do that with a group booking. For the $200 or so in savings by using Travelocity, I'd rather pay more since I like being able to tell my guests to contact the travel agent directly instead of bombarding me with questions. Takes the pressure off of me.

For those lucky brides that have already had their wedding at the Barcelo, would you recommend bringing outside decorations? I'm trying to decide whether to pack an extra suitcase of decorations or just leave it up to the resort to decorate. Did you use the decor that you brought (for those that packed along decorations) ? What do you wish you brought or did you find that they do an OK job of flowers and decor? Thanks for your help and advice!

Would love to see some pics of the banquet rooms as well. Would also like to know (of those that show pics) if any of the decorations, chair sashes, flowers etc. were brought to the resort from home or if it was all included in the package. I have seen some gorgeous pics but not sure what was brought from home by the bride! Thank you

That makes me feel better. I don't have a Wedding Coordinator yet since no one has gotten back to me or my travel agent! Our Sunwing flights from Vancouver haven't been announced yet either. Just so frustrated. Thought planning a destination wedding was gonna be so stress free and easy! Ha! Guess I'll just keep on waiting and then change the date and time, if necessary. We have a wedding website as well that I can update too. Thanks for letting me know what you guys had to do.

Me too! My travel agent has been trying to get in contact with someone since early December. I had to send out invites with the date and time in October that I am "hoping" for since final payment for the group rate quoted is due march 22. I'm am one stressed out little bride to be!!!

Your responses are so helpful. We are trying to book a June or October wedding (up to me and I can't decide if 6 months advance notice is enough for guests). Was thinking of Barcelo Palace (since there are lower price points for guests) or Excellence Riviera Maya because of the great pics and reviews. Help?
