  1. There are renovations throughout the resort. Mostly in the Grand and sunrise section- but hardly noticeable. There was just a small amount of construction in Nizuc section. We had our ceremony on the beach at grand and cocktail hour was by the infinity pool at grand- it was Beautiful!! Also- had I known before-I would have tried to book the roof terrace at Caribeno for one of my events. Amazing view! We stayed at Nizuc, which turned out to be perfect for us. We had 70 guests so it made it easy to all meet up and find each other. It is a 5 min walk to Grand section and 10 to Sunrise. It's a good combo of sunrise and grand. There is a Rowdier crowd, lots of people and kids by Sunrise. Grand is much calmer and had a 75m Lap pool if you're interested in that. Nizuc is smaller than Sunrise and bigger than Grand. It was Easy to relax but also had a great swim up bar. The rooms were also pretty nice at Nizuc- but think they are newer/modern in Grand. We didn't see the inside of the rooms there. So I guess it really depends on what you're looking for while you're there. I really don't think you can go wrong with any section. They are all so close either walking or using the free shuttle, so even if you're not staying in your fav section, it won't be hard to get to.
  2. Hi Ladies, I Just arrived back from MP yesterday. We were in Mexico for 14 days. A week before the wedding and a week after. 2 days after the wedding my hubby and I took off and stayed at palace resort in Isla Mujeres for 4 days. It was amazing! I highly recommend doing if you can. Much smaller and quieter resort, but perfect for a short honeymoon. We had 70 guests at our wedding- so the R & R after was much needed. As mentioned by prior brides. Relax. Everything turned out PERFECT! One thing I would note that I was not aware of before we went is the wind. It is EXTREMELY WINDY! We were told it wasn't typically like that- but we were at MP for 9 days and it was non-stop. It felt nice- given the heat, but hair and decorations will NOT sit nicely. Last minute we decided to keep out ceremony and cockail hour outside and move the reception indoors. They did a fabulous job! Emy our coordinator was awesome. We used the MP photog- he seemed to be pretty good, but haven't actually seen the prints yet. Should be arriving in the mail this week. My only issue was that I requested a specific picture ( with the mariachi band playing at our cocktail hour) and he took too long doing the "traditional/required" photos that we missed them and weren't able to get that shot. Also- we did the legal ceremony. The blood tests were not too bad. It took less than 5 minutes on resort and we never received the results. I'm guessing that means that all was good. Feel free to message me if you have any specific questions! I am bummed to be back to the real world and am already trying to plan my next trip back!
  3. Hi DZ... It was $56 for all our kids. 3 are in a family suite, the others are in the typical deluxe room sharing with 2 adults. Hope that helps!
  4. Hi Stef, I just wanted to say hi, I've been sort of a lurker on the site trying to gather information. But I saw we are getting married on the same day! How is your planning coming along? We are gearing up to leave in 3.5 weeks! Seems like everything is coming together- but we are still waiting on our final purchase order from Brenda, so getting a little nervous. What time (where) is your ceremony? We are at 5pm on the beach - I think by Nizuc section with cocktail and reception at the Venado terrace/ Garden. We are getting very excited! Coming up quick! Also- I can't remember who posted about the kids- but we have 9 in our group and got a rate of under 4 free and 4-13 $56/night.
  5. I also asked about adding decor. Kalena said that we could add favors and a few candles to the tables, but said they weren't allowed to really "change" anything with the new collections. On a side note. I noticed a few other Boston brides on here. Quick question- do you guys know if we have to do anything locally to make our ceremony valid and recognized when we come back home? Thanks!
  6. @Julie Mara- Yes! We are getting married on the same day 4/13 MP Brides. :-) It appears right now we are going to have about 65 guests! Much more than we were expecting, but we are very excited!! We confirmed with Kalena that the wire transfer for reserving rooms is a brand NEW policy. Everything else CC is ok. We are still not keen on the idea- but made sure our contract is very explicit and detailed so hoping will be ok!
  7. Hi All, We just booked for MP beach wedding 4/13/13. Can't wait. The pictures look amazing! We are sending in our deposit early next week. We are a little weary- as after speaking with Kalena yesterday- she mentioned that our "deposit" is our entire stay (10 days!) for the groom and I that is to be wire transferred- no use of credit card available. Has anyone else ran into this. Seems a bit weird to us...
