  1. My (now) husband and I went for the laid back, chill option. We've both been married before and both had the big "to do" for a wedding. This time we wanted the wedding to be all about what really matters, US! There were 10 of us all together, so we decided to rent a villa in Playacar. Villa Izcalli, 5 bedrooms, 5.5 baths and the ultimate deck with a fantastic view, to have the ceremony. We went through Erin at Latin Latitudes for the Villa Rental. She also works in conjunction with Susan de Lima of Uno Events. Susan is a godsend!!! She understood exactly what we were looking for and made it as painless as possible. No stress, no worry, Susan took care of it all. We opted for a civil ceremony, which Susan orchestrated all the documents needed, the blood test- the nurse came right to our villa, and arranged a time for the officiant to be there. After the ceremony, we had a cocktail hour with bar service and appetizers, then after a 4 course meal prepared by Susan's catering crewe. All of it was beyond delish! I want to stress, our wedding was a lot of "do it yourself" to save some money. We are veteran travelers to Mexico and not afaid to venture out to shop. We did bring the majority of our wine and champagne in our suitcases. Duty free was an excellent place to find the rest. Other than that, Wal-Mart in Playa? Just a short cab ride away. I was ambivilent about the hair and make up, but I'm glad I chose to have it done. Susan recommended Trevor of Waves salon. TOP NOTCH!!! It was fantastic!!! We drove to Trevor but he does travel to your location. We popped a bottle of champagne and let them work their magic. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect wedding with family and friends close by to share it. If anyone wants tips for the do it yourselfer, fire away.
