  1. Good morning ladies, So I ordered a dress from baby online recently. not my wedding dress but a blue dress fort rehearsal dinner. I requested that they send pictures prior to sending the dress. well they delivered the dress without pictures. I was away for the thanksgiving holiday and now I have to go out of my way and pick it up. it is crazy how they work. I hope the dress looks great but I am upset at the fact that they did not send me pictures as I requested. What is that? I am furious!

  2. Angelnjewels meeee! I am less than a month away from my wedding. How far are you?
Hi Katherine2go, wow less than a month... how exciting!!!! I have 4 months to go and have my planning call next month. Ugh I am so nervous.... I hope that All turns out well for you. I have heard amazing things. please post pictures and a review if possible when you return. :) What are some of the things that you have chosen? How many people are attending? My fiancé and I have about 60 ppl attending which is more than we ever expected. We chose the Tailormade and also added some things as the fire dancers, the trio and dj etc. How are you feeling now that you are only less than a month away! :)
  3. Hey Girls, i've been trying to jump on the forum but i guess my last post never got put up. i am new to the planning process. i just put my deposit down for our wedding in august 2014 paradisus palma real. i have a few questions and im sure i will have a ton more as the planning process begins. does anyone know where they move your wedding to if it rains? we are having the beach ceremony and was planning the terrace for our reception. i dont know if this is going to be really cheesy and cheap looking. we hare having lots of guest come from all over and i just can't see having a wedding and then it rains right in the middle of things. What would you do if you were having dinner and it started to pour? has anyone had their reception at Gabi Beach Club? im thinking to pay this extra upgrade fee. also, does anyone know if there is an additional charge for the wedding coordinator that is on site? thank you, cant wait to hear more feed back
Hi krisod, Welcome!!!! Congrats and wish you all the best with our wedding plans! If it rains you can speak with the wedding coordinators on where you would like your event held. The gabi is beautiful but pretty expensive!!! If you afford.... It is really awesome!!!! The Apollo ballrooms, Apollo terrace are also indoor spaces whic work beautifully. We decided on having our reception at the Apollo ballroom since it has a/c and we did not want to take the chance. The wedding coordinators do not charge extra for their services. You have to pay for your package, upgrades and add ons. My wedding is less than 5 months away and I feel like I have so much to do. Just got my bridesmaid dresses!!!! Oh boy!
  4. IT'S HERE!!!! My replica dress... I need to get a petticoat but wanted to post... Ordered from babyonline... Here's the original... 400 400 And here is what I just got... Actually EXTREMELY happy... I didn't want any bling bc I'm going to have a blingy sash... 400 400 400 400
Wow I'm impressed.... Thinking of purchasing a few dresses from babyonline... I just wondered if it was legit...
  5. Hi Ladies, I haven't spend a lot of time posting on the message board, but I just had my wedding on September 27 and I thought I'd share my experience. We arrived on Wed and met Mariela who was our assigned wedding coordinator.  We reviewed all of our details and I must say, they were on top of things. If you have a good MOH, bring her to this meeting.  My sister was present to take notes and manage all of the final details, which I must say was priceless. Couple of notes: We held a welcome cocktail event on Thursday for our guests in the Plaza Colonial. I had 52 guests and requested large group dinner reservations at three restaurants to accommodate everyone. My sister created a sign-up sheet that we passed around at the cocktail party so that guests could choose where to dine. We did go ahead and get the Bridal Suite which turned out to be pretty nice since it allowed the groom to use our hotel room to get dressed and my girlfriends and I had our own little party in the Bridal Suite.  I had a couple of guests that cancelled at the last minute which helped defer some of the $300 cost.  I did not use the PPR team for hair and makeup, but only because I knew my girlfriends could get the job done and that was one less expense. :-) Although our wedding was held in the Garden Gazebo area, we elected to have the ceremony on the lawn across from the gazebo since the gazebo itself is so small and guests have to sit far away. We provided our own wording for the entire ceremony (use the web for ideas- and it's a great assignment for the groom), and provided a transcript to Mariela about a week before the wedding. (We used my ipod on their sound system for the ceremony music.) Make a note to bring your own runner for the ceremony (I forgot).  The only options are at PPR are a burlap runner (which is perfect for the beach or more rustic themes) or a white feathery thing that looks like a boa and is a nightmare to walk on. Overall it was very hot, but the wedding was beautiful. My cocktail reception was at the Plaza Colonial. We used our own docking station and ipod for music since it was only an hour. My reception was in the Apollo Ballroom.  I was thankful my guests had some relief from the heat.  The decor was beautiful (I used amber lighting and draping) and the DJ was great.  I provided a complete list of music for dinner and the party and he improvised perfectly.  I asked a really good friend to emcee the evening and she did and outstanding job and made it much more personal than the DJ could have done. Also I added an hour to my reception so that things would not feel rushed. Since my wedding was on Friday, we had all day Saturday to relax at the pool and enjoy visiting with our guests. On Sunday we had breakfast at Naos with all of our guests, which was the perfect way to say goodbye before we departed. Sidebar: About 3 weeks before the wedding, I sent all of our guests a mailing that included tourism information about punta cana, a weekend intinerary, info about the PPR restaurants (including dress code and access). I'll try to post some pictures. Adey
Hi Danny, Thanks for the review. I love your pictures. So beautiful!!!!! I am super excited... My wedding is less than 6 months away at PPR. I am going to book the bridal suite and going to have my hair done at the room. Ugh I find that there is so much to think about... But it sounds like once you are there it is amazing... We are going with the tailor made package. And we will be having our reception at the apollo. How did the draping work out? I am thinking of adding this to the room. Any other tips would be greatly appreciated... Congratulations!!!

Did you go with the tailor made package? If so how many quest will be attending your wedding?  I'm still undecided on the packages, I love the tailor made package but was wondering if its worth it!

Yes we chose the Tailormade package. The revised package includes more guests and since we want to have the BBQ on the beach we thought it was worth it. I hope it all works out. We are expecting 50-60 guests. So far 50 have booked so we are just waiting for the rest of the people to book.

I know that it is really pricey but we figured it is still more affordable than having a wedding here. I have saved in many areas, i made my own Save the Dates, response cards, invitations and my dress was affordable so i think that we are just adding it all to the wedding weekend.

    I am super excited.

We are thinking of getting the fire dancers as well for the BBQ, and adding more video and photography for both days.

I hope it all works out... Less than 6 months to go!!!!

    Happy Planning!

CONGRATULATIONS angelnjewels! 6 months is just around the corner :) So many decisions to make, and it's a destination wedding which is supposed to be easier lol. My mom and I looked at wedding venues back in my hometown and the details to keep track of as far as catering, florists, decorations were a bit much. Unlike majority of women who see wedding planning as exciting (including one of my best friends, who pulled off an amazing fairy-tale wedding), I see it at work :( At least there should be less stress I'm hoping anyway with planning a destination wedding. Well, I'm hoping anyway.

Which photographer/videographer did you and your fiance decide on? The company that the resort works with or a different one? That $1K surcharge is nuts.

    Islandgirl808,

Yes i agree with you... to much for an at home wedding...

Thank you so much... I cant wait and cant believe how fast time flies. Yes i think that even though it is still stressful this was the best option for us. A lot has happened. I have learned about other people and about myself. I am telling you this has been a bumpy ride and i know who is with me and who is against me but all is good.

Regarding the photography/videograher we have decided to go with Arrecife. Even though we have not signed a contract yet we do not want to pay the outside vendor fee and feel that they will do a fabulous job with video and pictures.

We are actually trying to negotiate and have them during our BBQ the night before. I want to capture every moment of our wedding weekend.

How are you doing with your planning?

    Happy planning!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Ladies I finally chose a package. My fiancé and I chose it because with the changes that best fit our wedding weekend. We have arraigned to have the Welcome BBQ the night before on the beach. We are debating wether or not to have the photographer and videographer that night as well to capture such an important time of our wedding. We are also planning on having the fire dancers That night because it will give a great feel and leave more room for dancing at the reception lol... Everything is still in the works but as I get closer I feel this knot in my stomach I think it's my anxiety. I have 6 months to go... yay!

  9. That is incorrect. We had the option of a bank wire transfer, certified bank check, or credit card. The 5% charge is on the total package and the wedding extras- so lets say your entire wedding cost is $10,000- that's what the 5% charge is on- the entire amount of the balance- not just the deposit. The cheapest way to pay is a bank wire transfer. We calculated each form of payment. The most expensive is paying by credit card because depending on your package- that price can soar. Sending them a bank certified check- you have to fed ex it and fed ex charged us $60 to send our documents to the church- and they were lost along the way. The wire transfer depends on your bank- but I was able to submit it online through Chase- I don't remember but the charge was less than $25 I believe and the resort also assesses a $25 fee to accept- so we ended up paying $50 as opposed to all the other options which were far more expensive.
Ev, is there the option to pay with personal check.
  10. Hi Ladies, I am new to the forum and will be getting married at PPR on November 30, 2013. All of the information posted is very helpful, there are so many questions I have! Hopefully someone who has been to the resort can help me! I will be having my ceremony and cocktail hour on the beach, and beach terrace for reception. I initially didnt like the pictures of the beach terrace, but the other locations I wanted were not available. I was thinking of going with one of the Apollo rooms, because I want my reception to have a very romantic and ambient candle-lit feel. Have an of your brides seen the beach terrace or any of the apollo rooms in person? I am so confused about this and know I need to make a decision soon. Also did anyone rent the bridal suite? Was it worth it? Will the makeup artist and hairstylist come to my room to get me ready or do I need to go to SPA? Also, anyone use the new DJ Abentos? My fiance is Dominican so thankfully he speaks Spanish, but reading the thread makes me nervous that the MC doesnt speak much english. Any info on these items would be a huge help! Thanks Ladies, Devina
Hi Devina, Welcome to the forum! My wedding is in March of next year! I met the DJ abentos in January during my visit. I have heard positive things about them. My concern is that the MC dos not speak English well which kinda bothers me bc eventhough I speak Spanish everyone going speaks English lol I know it's amp other country so I am going to deal with that. It will be fine. I did not have a chance to see it but I am planning on booking it. I was told it is 300.00 plus 18% tax... Ugh And you only get it for four hours but oh well. Its all about getting pampered. ;) I believe they will do your hair and makeup in the room. Which is great!

I know that the planning stages can be frustrating but have no fear everything will be great.

I celebrated my wedding on July 9th in Paradisus Palma Real and worked with Massiel and Mariela. All I can say that everything was absolutely AMAZING!! The girls and their staff were super attentive, professional and accommodating. The girls were always available and quick to address any concerns I had.

137 friends and family members traveled to Punta Cana for the event and they were all more than satisfied with the ceremony and reception. Our party was so good that we extended it an extra hour.

Due to the storm we were unable to have our "Welcome" Party on the beach but Massiel assured me that they could work something out for us. They decorated the event space outside of the Apollo Hall beautifully. You would never think it was a hallway. We were able to enjoy the outside breeze but still have cover in case it rained.

The reception was awesome!!! The decorating company was able to make my vision a reality. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in. The waiters at the reception were a hit! My family was so amazed at how attentive they were and they made sure to keep the drinks coming. I cannot tell you anything about there DJ company because I flew my DJ and MC in form NY. The food was good and the cake was delicious.

My husband and I loved our wedding so much that we would do it all again!

Believe me when I tell you that the most difficult part is making it to the date. After you reach Punta Cana you will have no worries. They will take care of everything!

    It is all worth it!

    Hi Marysabel,

Thanks for your review..I have some questions since you used the Apollo. I am getting in March and have decided to use the Apollo Rooms. How was your decor? I want to use curtains but they told my that it would be $900.00 per room.

How was your welcome party? Did you do the tailor made or did you add the welcome party to your package?  My fiance and i have decided to do the tailor made package because we think it is the most reasonable for our group.

I am also in NY who did you have as your DJ and MC...Do you recommend them? I met the DJ company Abentos when we had our Love at first site visit in January and we were not happy that the DJ did not speak much English. I know its DR and i am Dominican but my fiance and his family do not speak Spanish. It is going to be tough to have the DJ not engage our English speaking crowd which is everyone...

    Any other suggestions are welcomed...

Thanks so much...Wedding planning can be stressful...

Thank you! Yes we know its expensive for people so we are trying to do as much as we can. I may skip the robes and do the t-shirts or tops that say Bridesmaid...I may just get a white robe for myself..haha!!!

Is anyone getting the bridal suite? I think i will get it or book a room at the reserve...
