  1. thanks for your advice very much. Now I have known that nothing is more important than the happiness we can get. So no matter how others look us,we don't care. We just seek our love for ourselves, which may be my family want to see most.

  3. Please pardon the down-in-the-dumps attitude below... I'm trying to budget for our wedding (way ahead of time). We want to get married July 2014. We are just starting out (he'll be 24, I'll be 23), and we are getting no financial help from our parents. I'm finishing off my BA and heading into a master's program. He's just finishing off his education and starting to work. I hate feeling inhospitable, but I'm starting to entertain the idea of a cake and punch reception. We've cut our guest list a lot (we both have large families) and are trying for 50 guests. In my family, just a cocktail reception would be severly looked down upon, as would not having a cash bar. I feel like there's so much pressure to entertain people and go all out! I feel like we're in an all-or-nothing situation. All we want to do is get married. We've been together for 6 years already and don't want to wait any longer than the two years until 2014. It's important for us to just be married, rather than postponing to save up for an extravagant affair. I can't seem to get over horribly disappointing my family though... Anyone else balancing family expectation issues and a low budget?
  4. My FI and I have decided to not to the unity candle or unity sand things, but I kind of want something to show the same basic concept (two become one) is a unique way. I came across a brief description of hand fasting in a magaizine, but it didn't give a whole lot of information. All it said was that the hands of the couple were wrapped in a ribbon or something and that it came from an ancient Celtic tradition possibly. Does anyone have anymore information about this tradition?
  5. Hey guys, I suffer from mild acne and I am worried about my wedding day. Do you think a professional will be able to cover up my acne for the wedding? I have been using a lot of different methods to get rid of my acne completely, but unfortunately it never completely goes away.
  6. Good evening, ladies! I'm getting married next year in August and have been looking for a honeymoon destination that isn't wracked with bad weather because of monsoons or hurricanes. We're looking for a place to spend roughly 12-14 days with a combination of beach, activities, and day trips. What places would you avoid? Where would you go? We're working on options first. We've already been to Greece, Jamaica, the Bahamas, the Caymans, Mexico, etc. So we're looking for something else! Any suggestions and help would be great - we're kind of getting lost with options and aren't sure what to do because we don't know if we should go somewhere after I move (my fiance and I will be living in London) or leave after the wedding from Michigan.
  7. My FI and I have decided to have an afternoon wedding after a lot of thought. A morning ceremony with a reception following directly afterwards will be a lot less expensive and we are paying for this ourselves. We also have 3 nieces who will be 2, 3, and 6 and our going to be our flower girls and our ring bearer (6 yr odl) and feel an afternoon reception will easier for them and their parents to enjoy since we really want them there. But I don't know how to plan an afternoon reception! I've only ever been to evening weddings. I also worked in catering but also only evening receptions. We are serving a full meal, which will most likely start around 1ish. What kind of food does one serve for a lunch reception? Should we have a DJj becuase people will still dance at an afternoon reception? Our guest list is about 50/50 people in their 20s and people in their 50s and older so I am not sure if that makes any difference. My mom can't really help me plan because her wedding was a mass followed by dinner in my aunt's basement and his parent's are divorced and had a wedding similar to my parents for all of their weddings.
  8. Woohoo!! It only just opened on Wednesday at the Intercontinental Hotel Sydney. Only stumbled across this the other day when I was about to call the New York store, only to see a Sydney store listing on the VW website. It looks like Helen Rodrigues no longer sells VW. It was on the website not long ago offering 15% off new VW orders from 15 April 2012.
  9. My bridesmaid is getting out of control. My sister is my MOH and has been really supportive and said no matter what dress, hair or makeup i pick for her she will be happy as that's what i want. My best friend who's my bridesmaid is driving me crazy. All she talks about is how she wants HER hair, HER makeup and what style of dress SHE wants. I want them to have natural elegant makeup. She wants a slinky sexy dress, i want a nice knee length chiffon dress. Everything i send her pictures of she disagrees with and sends me pictures of glammed up models she wants. Now all she is talking about is her wedding, she doesn't have a boyfriend so i don’t know why she is doing this. I'm not being unreasonable and I’ve let them have input into what they want but she is driving me crazy, i would never put them in anything that didn't suit them both. I don’t know what to do Anyone else experienced this?
  10. We have seen more charming in stores at the moment and the ladylike trend seems to be turning up with Doctor-style bags . We love the retro-elegance for the colder months but is anyone wearing it?
  11. Did anybody bougth their wedding dress online? Just saw some topics about the http://www.vicyc.com and it is highly reccomended. The dress of my dreams cost $13 000 AU and I don't think i want to spend that much money on my wedding gown. The website sells the same designer dresses for $1700, but I couldn't find my dream dress there
