  1. Hi Ladies!

Well we just got back from our visit a couple of days ago.  We stayed at a different resort for the trip but drove to Jade to meet Pilar and check it out.

First and foremost - Pilar and Daisy are INCREDIBLE.  She took over two hours to meet with us and show us around - and we have already booked and placed our deposit.  We were very interested in the reception locations and had scheduled Mix bar, pergola and the terrace.  We have about 50 people coming and wanted to see the layout.  After checking everything out we moved our reception to CinCin - and I am so excited.  The terrace could accomodate us, but the area that would be used for dancing is very small, and not central.  Pilar made a good point in saying that you dont have the ocean view at night - something I hadn't thought of.   The other options for locations are much more accomadating, and I believe, much nicer now that I have seen them.  Regardless, it will be beautiful.  Darius (the bartender at Mix) is fantastic.  We told him we hadnt yet decided on a signature drink - he asked our colours and starting making us samplers.  The reviews about him are spot on.  I also met with adventure - as we are using them for our photography.  They completely cover the getting ready, ceremony and most of the reception for an additional $700 on top of the divine package.  Their photos were lovely, and you get the disc with them all - free of copywrite.  They suggested that we make of list of certain shots we would like and they will make sure they do this for us. Not once were we told "no" we couldnt do something - they were very accomodating with all my requests (including bringing gluten free cake mix for our cake).  We arranged some extra events (golfing and a trip to playa) through the concierge.  They were very accomodating as well.  After our trip around the resort we were invited to spend the day - which we did.  The service around the resort was fantastic, the rooms beautiful, and the staff so friendly.  The resort has something for everyone - adults pool, kids pool, and the beach.  The beach is rocky - but there are swim friendly areas for those who love the surf.  The rooms are all stunning - even the basic room selection.

After our meeting, FI sat me down and said we had to talk.  I was a little stressed as to what the problem was.  He pulled out some beautiful crystal earrings with aquamarine that he purchased at the jewelry store at the resort.  They are to wear with my dress and they are stunning.  He wanted me to have something special, and blue, for our day and he thought it would be very special if they came from Jade.  He is a winner!!

I feel very lucky I was able to make this trip - but for the many brides who are not - DO NOT STRESS.  These women are professionals, and very, very good at what they do.  They are on top of all the details, so you dont have to be.  Let her know your vision and she will make it come true.  Just know that when you arrive everything will be handled, and fantastic.  I met a few brides there, and watched a wedding, and all was well - actually, better than well.  Both FI and I hugged Pilar and Daisy when we left - and couldnt thank them enough.  3 months and 12 days to go.  We can't wait!!

If I can answer any questions - just let me know.  All the info is still fresh.

If you do a search for maracas, you may see the thread. I think they originally tried to charge her an outrageous amount but she was able to talk them down a bit. It still don't think they were cheaper than http://www.amols.com/catalog/medium-traditional-maracas, on that website they are $1.95 a pair. I don't think you can beat that.. Although it may be a hassle dragging them down but that's my plan :)

As for the swapping and credits, they are very inconsistent so I'm not sure. Hopefully they will be a little more lenient once we get down there :)

I just ordered hand painted authentic maracas from a supplier in Mexico.  For $326 (including tags, date, logo, shipipng and tax) they are making 40 of them.  This saves me the hassle of getting them there and they are gorgeous.  I am using them for my place cards, and "shake for a kiss" as well as the reception gift.  http://www.maracasartanddesign.com

  3. Hi All,   We are getting married April 24, 2012 at Now Larimar. 4 Months to go super excited.... I feel like its crunch time for working out to get in shape! When is everyone booking a fitting for their wedding dresses? I booked mine for January as the place I go to said three months in advance is good for the first fitting. Seems soon to mee.....  Mandie89
We have the same date and a jan fitting. Congrats!!
  4. You are lucky to be able to visit in January! When you get back, can you let me know what you see and find out? I would really appreciate it!!  Unfortunately, I have to rely on pictures (which I wish there were more of) and BDW:) I was thinking of the same layout as you described for the "head tables" but I am not sure if they will be able to elevate them or not. I like the idea of having the tables set up like that! I was thinking that I wanted my guests to be closer together though, which is why I was wondering if the head table can be set up to the side and have the guests tables set up essentially across the front by where the dance floor will be. I am sooo curious to see the size of the area for dancing!! It's funny, because when I asked Pilar to send me some pictures of the terrace set up for a reception, she sent me a pic with round tables. I wonder if you can get round tables then?
Who knows! I will give a complete update when I get back. I know it will for sure be helpful!

Hello  brides!! I am trying to envision the space of carnival terrace set up for a reception. I asked Pilar to send me some pics of the terraces set up, which she did send a few, but I still can't get a good idea of where the dance floor is positioned and the cake table ect. I was going to do one long table, but I think I want to set it up in a different way to encourage more mingling and fun! Does any past brides or soon to be brides have any pics they can share or ideas on how they plan on setting up their reception on the carnival terrace. Any help would be appreciated:)

I am having the same difficulty.  We have over 45 guests, so the long table isnt going to work.  I am going to do my best at describing what I am thinking (which may sound ridiculous). Let me know if it makes sense to you.  I am also going to visit while on vacay in Jan and see if this will work.

I was planning on setting up a large square table (possibly elevated) for FI and I, as well as the BM's and GM's.  Directly in front of us are the doors to inside, and space for the dance floor.  Off to the left and right of us will be two long tables with the guests.  They only offer square tables, not round, so in theory this should work.  In front of the doors is more space, making it my suggestion for the dance floor.

Hey Michelle! Yes, it's $15 per person to extend the reception an extra hour. I'm getting married June 14, 2013 and plan to send my invitations out mid January and ask for an RSVP date of March 14th. I think 5-6 months in advance for invitations works good. My future mother in law seems to think the RSVP date is a bit early but I highly disagree! I need some kind of head count so I can plan accordingly. The way I see it, if you don't know if you'll be leaving the country in 3 months, then your not coming!

We based everything off our travel agency timelines.  Given the early booking discount we received I needed to send my save the date as an email in July (for April 2013 wedding).  Final payment was due Oct 5 - so this gave people time to put there deposit down and plan their finances around the payment deadlines.  I sent the formal invites in August once they were ready - bt most had already put down their deposit by then.  So now, 6 months out, we have our confirmed attendees, and a good idea of where our budget stands.  We also used a wedding website, where we post updates etc.  It was a good thing we did it so early - the price went up over $600 per person !!

  7. I asked {ilar about the complimentary room for the Groom and they do not offer it :frown:  My FI will proably stay in onw of his guys rooms and I'll stay in ours. We also have close to 80 guests so we saved $$ by cancelling cocktail hour and trading for extra dinners. We didn't upgrade the cake since dessert was included with dinner package. Would still like the champaign but I was thinking of doing a signature drink at reception maybe instead?
They offer a signature drink for both the cocktail hr and ceremony. 80 ppl??? Wow. We have 45 and I am stressing :)
  8. we created a logo for our April wedding in Mexico.  We then had leather travel wallets made with the logo, as well as luggage tags - that had each persons name engraved on one.  We included a pen with the logo - and created an invitation that looks just like an airline ticket!  We boxed them in a beautiful gold box with ribbon.  If I could figure out how to post an image I would show you!  Very unique and everyone loved them.

I have been in contact with Pilar and from the information she sent me it looks like DJ time is included in the Divine wedding package! She said the package included 20-40 min at ceremony, 1hour at cocktails, and 3 hour at reception. Anything over that time is $250 an hour. I am soooo happy to hear this as I thought we needed to pay an additional $1000 for 4 hours of DJ time. Hope this is as great news to you as it was to me.

    Tamara

Where did you see this?  Our date is April 24 2012, and all she sent me was the planning forms.  I would love for the DJ to be included.  Let me know where you read that.

  10. I am in the process of booking my 2013 wedding at NOW Jade!! So exciting! Can someone please tell me how much time is included with the photographer in the Divine package. Do they come while getting ready and stay until the reception or is that extra? THANKS!
I just got a quote to add to the divine pkg. it is about 700 more for full day coverage (getting ready, ceremony, pics and reception). They take great photos, and compared to the 20 other quotes I received are much more fairly priced. I am sticking with adventure.
  11. We just confirmed for the end of April 2013 - we were able to take advantage of an early booking bonus for now jade. The price tax in for our guests is 1480 for pool view, and 1600 for preferred club, with AC. I contacted a ton of agents, online and in person - the best service and price I received was from Sarah griffiths at flight centre. We receive every 6th room free ( to be applied as we wish) to a max of 2 rooms, double occ. she has been a pleasure to work with and I am pleased with the price I received. I contacted AC directly and didn't receive a price even close to what she could offer. She is very responsive and has been amazing to work with.
This is a Toronto departure. Forgot to mention that part.
