  1. Kerala is a state that is gifted with abundant natural beauty. With the importance given to tourism, Kerala tours have increased immensely over the past few years. A number of tourists visit Kerala each year to have a glimpse of its immense natural beauty. Kerala beaches are among the best in the world. Kerala’s coastal length is about 900km and the whole of it is lined by swaying coconut trees, rocky cliffs and silver sands. The sun drenched shoreline of Kerala with the heavenly palm trees on one side and the rippling waves on the other side is a treat to watch. The trips can be made more delightful by taking advantage of the magical ayurveda therapy that is available in many places. Beaches of Allapuzha which is also called the Venice of the East, the beaches in Kovalam, Bypore beach, Varkala beach, Marari beach, Fort Kochi beach, Kumarakom beach, Kappad beach, Payyambalam beach, Thangassery beach, Thirumullavaram beach and Bekal beach are some of the most famous beaches in Kerala. In the beaches in the Northern part of Kerala, the headlands rise above the shore from the fringe of the beaches. Forts built by the colonial powers such as the Portuguese, Dutch and the British dot the highlands. Towards the South the view changes to flat lands with rocky outcroppings jutting out. Beaches are among the favorite destinations of foreign tourists and the miraculously unspoilt serene beaches are a paradise for nature lovers. The total revenue created by tourism is greater than Rs 1000 billion and hence Kerala tourism is launching a 1000 million plan for the development of 22 other beaches.
