My daughter and her fiance surprised us and recently got married (with a week's notice to close family and friends) in Mexico. Luckily her father and I were able to attend. We had planned on throwing a big reception in town for family and friends next month but have a dilemma. My daughter was extremely ill during her ceremony and really was depressed have her "Big Day" stolen. She wants to do a 2nd ceremony (at the reception site) and wants to apply for a marriage license here in the states so she will have a valid marriage certificate (in English) to send in to update her SS info, change her drivers license,etc. Is this legal? How do you word the second ceremony??? Her close friends and family know that a ceremony took place in Mexico. Any advice and opinions are greatly appreciated. I get such a intense emotional mixed message from women I have talked with. Her new husband just wants her to be happy....As do the rest of us...
