  1. Well.. my hubby to be did something I dont know if I should be happy or mad about...

    My plan was to leave it and play dumb when I got there...  BUT he took it upon myself to contact the resort and complain without me knowing...
    Here is the reply he just got :-)

     

     

    Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience you may have experienced in respect to the information about the outside photographers.

    At Now Larimar Punta Cana and Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana we take pride in ensuring our customerâ€s satisfaction. Therefore, after analyzing the situation, our management has taken the following actions:

    • At both hotels we have gone a step ahead and our team focused on the photo and video service for weddings  have been renewed, as well as the photo packages, cameras and other equipment, in order to provide you the highest professional level in this service.

     

    • The outside vendor fee to be paid for outside photographers will be of US$500.00 (subject to change without previous notice). This fee does not include food, beverage, or any other services. In case you are interested in any extra service for your photographer, please consult your Wedding Coordinator.

     

    • The fee mentioned above will be applied for new requests. In case you have confirmed (by email) to the Wedding Coordinator about your outside photographer before February 16th, 2013, the previous cost of US$150.00 will be honored.

     

    • When the photographer is staying at the hotel as part of the wedding group, the outside photographer fee will be absolved. It is not allowed to pay a stay for local photographer in order to avoid the fee; in this case, the US$500 fee will be applied.

     

    We deeply value your relationship with us and are committed to providing you with the highest level of service simply because our customers deserve the very best. If you have any further questions or comments regarding this matter, please feel free to contact your Wedding planner.

I expressed to her my concerns and she told me that she is aware that many brides are upset and has communicated this to management. She is waiting for management to get back to her regarding this issue, so for right now she recommends for us to give her some time until she hears back from management. I just asked her to tell management about the number of brides that are upset....I truly think this can be changed...after all I did sign a contract in November 2012, four months prior to this policy change.

    I signed my contract back in April/May 2012.. I also went through everything sent to me and no where does it state policys can change without notice.. prices can and wedding packages can.

    I even have my wedding spreadsheets done and confirmed with the wedding dept stating my outside photographer, thererfore legally they can not deny this.

    So fingers crossed it does not come to that sort of situation ;-)

  4. Just a thought.. at 3 to 4 weddings a day... How much coverage is actually given to each wedding?
    I am sure the pictures are great... But I want a dedicated to me only person for the day.. not a hour or two. I want all the little things captured, I want special effects added ..

    To think of having my wedding pictures ready the day after they are taken is not for me. That to me mean you got a fancy camera and you took some pictures, printed them and put them on a cd.. like anyone can do these days.

     

    My photographer is coming to the resort at lunch time.. my wedding is at 5pm.

    He also stated he includes usually 12 hours coverage and I am provided with 2000+  digital prints with edits.  He has ME only that day...
    And I will not get these pictures for maybe two months later.. thats fine. Looking at his work it is so worth the wait! 

     

    Everyone is different on what the most important thing of their day is to them.. me it is pictures :-)

     

     

     

    Looking at WBA photo website ... there is no mention of Now Larimar....

    I was emailed the prices last year

     

    To have close to what I wanted in pictures it was $2500+:

     

    Royal

    All photos on CD high quality

    HD(RAW)

    Room service , dinner service and trash the dress. - No dance? Oh another 200 dollars.. What about other pictures you may want before the actualy wedding?

    1 h coverage throughout preparation bride + groom - not enough time IMO, to add an extra hour 200US.. crazy

    All photos in a DVD HD (RAW) -  NO EDITS, I could have my aunt or sister in law with her fancy camera do this for me. Same difference, I want edits and some extra touches to them :-)

    All photos on DVD in a slideshow (photo + music) - This is so old.. anyone can do this so nothing special

    All photos printed 6x8 - Waste of pictures

    Photos souvenirs for your family size 4x6

    2500 US

     

  5. My travel rep who is a god sent is looking into this for me... I will post when I hear anything 

     

    I like to play the "I didnt know card" like Danielle said.

    I will NOT contact them to ask about it... if they don't contact me then I would of never known!

    I also have EVERYTHING done with them so there is no need for any further communication

    What are they going to do tell me the day of my wedding .... HA! Tell the guy he can't come on the resort?

     

    I am pretty sure having a lawyer with you will go a long way on this! We all got a lawyer friend attending our weddings right ;-)

     

    On June 13th 2012 I was told the below, and I have the email printed to take with me!

     

    I am bring my own photographer but he is staying at another resort, could you tell me how I would purchase a day pass so he can attend my wedding and the cost? The Cost to be paid for outside vendors is US$150 per person/day (dinner not included). If you want to add dinner for your photographer, the cost is US$35 per person, or you can include him/her in your dinner as extra guest.

     

    If they want to fight that on my day.. bring it! They have no idea who they will be messing with!

    I also looked all over their site.. there is no mention of it. So legally this can not stand... their site and emails states prices can change not policy's....

    No there is no credit for the free wedding if you upgrade.

    Outside vendor fee is 150 a person ( so if you get outside Dj and there is two guys.. thats 300 dollars)

    We are also just renting the equipement.... I have 18 guests.

    For 3 hours ( dinner in that time frame) I can't spend that much money on a DJ... when it is to be over at 9/10pm. The group can then go to club on the resort if they want to continue to party :-)

     

    I guess it depends on where you are having your reception if the speakers from Walmart will work... it may not be loud enough.

    But  I am going to see how loud my dock for the satelite radio goes.. it has an ipod hook up on it... could save 350 dollars!

  8. This is a long shot but I am looking to purchase 2 Alfred Angelo Style 6662 Flower girls dresses.

    Size 2.. I can even make a 3 work.

     

    I left it too late and now I am stuck with paying $600 and there is no guarantee they will be here in time for my wedding.

    When I first booked I had Mercy.. then I was passed to Lusica ( i think thats her name)

    Very nice girl, I have my meal and all locations confirmed. I don't think there is anything we need.... I let everything slide when I went back to work that I am behind on a lot of things!

     

    Our deadline was in Aug I believe.. final payment was due December 28th.

    Right now we have a small group of 16 with a few more saying they may go.. but the prices are way higher than the group rate we got (like 1000 more per person). So hard to say if we will get more or not....

     

    This is my 4th time down south and the first time I am getting twinrix.

    I am getting for my twins so just as well to get it myself. I never though about Dukoral, but now that you mentioned it it woundn't hurt to have! The twins are too young for it though..

    I think it is about 25 - 30 dollars each way.
    All Canadian travel  has transportation included and there is a bus that picks you up.

    The bus can either be a open top (omg we are going to die type) or a nice motor coach bus. Anytime I have been in the DR it was both....

     

    My friend always takes a cab as the bus doesn't have seat beats, so it is safer to take a cab with her son.
