  1. Hi imnnotarunner! I was wondering if you could give us more information on how your site visit went. I am set to get married on June 21, 2014 at the gabi bridge and am planning to do my site visit this June. How was it when you arrived, did they upgrade you like they say they would? Also were you able to visit the different reception sites and do food tasting. I am also very anxious about the whole decorating company they seem very pricey! Do you have any pictures of the center pieces they quotes on you. Sorry for all the questions but I just feel like Paradisus representatives are so vague when answeing my questions Thanks again for all your info!
Our Love at First Site was amazing! We saw each location, tasted the food, wines, met with Perla... Etc. the planners on site are much better than Miami. Unfortunately, you will have to deal with Miami until about 45 days before your wedding. Again, we are so thankful for our wedding planner Janice... She helps decipher all the wedding stuff that stresses me when dealing directly with the Miami Office :)
  2. I was intending on having an acoustic guitarist play for the ceremony.  Haven't even gotten that far yet, though!  Utilizing the DJ seems like a good idea!  I was going to have live music for my cocktail hour and DJ for reception only, but I decided to have him play for cocktail hour too in order to save some money.
We are having a violinist for the ceremony, then using the DJ for the cocktail hour and reception :)
  3. Hey, Congrats to everyone. We booked our wedding on Nov 2, 2013. We're so excited. I wasn't sure when to book our site visit but after reading some of the posts I think March or April are good months. We originally invited 120 guest but after the save the dates were sent out people started backing out so not sure how many people we will have. We chose to get married on the Gabi bridge and the reception at the Gabi club. I also chose Hadar for the night before. I'm not sure if that's a good idea but they told me I can change it. We chose the Tailor-made package it had the most included. I assumed the same thing about the aqua package. All the extras are going to cost a lot. I tried to negotiate the vendor fee but had no luck. They told me I can use Blue Lens for the photographer, but I'm not so crazy about them so I saw a few others that I liked. Check out Del Sol and Elizabeth Medina they both looked very nice. I feel very overwhelmed I'm not sure what my next step is. Maybe someone can help me and steer me in the right direction. Thanks Jess
I feel the same way about Blue Lens. We went with Erick Rodqriguez of www.claudiaphoto.com. Looks like the vendor fee is sticking for us too :(. That $1000 could go so far!
  4. When I went down for an initial visit, I was told by the wedding planner several things were included and even though I had two children coming to the wedding I would be allowed an exception to have my reception on the Perla side. and by the time I had my official visit, EVERYTHING was an extra charge and now I was not allowed to be on the adult side with kids.  Sometimes I regret booking here. They are so much more expensive than any other resort in Mexico: from Gabi bridge fees, per plate charge, per person in the packages to flowers, decor, etc. The people who work there are super nice but it's been frustrating at times to have them stick to their word. GET everything in writing, word means nothing there. During my site visit, for some reason they forgot to include cake in the food tasting.  So I was told I could schedule it day before the wedding. *sigh*
Wow... Gabi Bridge fees? Does that depend on the package?
  5. Hey ladies....I'm wondering how everyone is handling guest rooms for their group. Travel agent? Or did you block rooms through the resort? I'm very confused at how that all works and what the best way to go is!! Thanks. Jess
We are using our beloved Janice Shortier of Destination Wedding Store and Perfect Honeymoon. She is our wedding planner and travel agent and new family friend :). We found her from an article she was featured in the Destination Wedding Magazine. Her email address is - Janice at destinationweddingstore dot com :)
  6. Hi Ladies =) I was wondering if you could offer suggestions... I am having just a one drink waiter served cocktail party (one drink included is the main point) the first night where I will be distributing the OOT bags.  What I am struggling with is what to call it.  I don't want to call it a cocktail party because I feel people may think they can be served many drinks.  Do you all have any suggestions of what I can say on the invitation to drive the point home that this is only a quick thing?  Maybe "Pre-Dinner cocktail" or "Out of town bag distribution"?  It just sounds so much tackier than "Welcome cocktail reception" or something.  Any ideas? Thanks!
Hiya KK :) I would definitely lean towards "wedding name" Meet n Greet or something like this for the title. This way you keep the drinks out of it and any cocktails provided are a pleasant surprise! :)
  7. They told me this when I was out there, so I am going to send it out with the invitation on the RSVP card.  They were very strict about this...and you need to provide them with a seating chart 3 weeks before the wedding with who ordered what, and where they are sitting!  Tough!
Same here... I told my guest that haven't responded yet that they will all end up with sea bass.... Lol :)
  8. I chose same locations - I love the gabi club! I received an email the other day that I need to let them know what each of my guests will be choosing as reception entree (since we are giving them 2 options)- I guess I will just give an estimate? No way am I calling my guests to find out- what did you guys do?
Haha! :) I totally understand. We asked on the RSVP card. Too bad we don't have most of them back yet!!! :)
  9. I am  contemplating the DJ thing as well.  I still haven't even gotten a quote from them.  Yes, I went into the bridal suite...it is SO beautiful!  Here is my link to pictures of the resort, and there are pics of the bridal suite in it! http://www.flickr.com/photos/29144048@N06/sets/72157632460224679/
Thank you for the photos!!! They are GREAT!!!
  10. Chelae- I actually have 60 adults booked and 10 kids. What I did was I told everyone that the I had a deadline of when they had to book or they would be subject to hire priced rooms! Some people got scared and booked immediately . Others are still taking their time but I am having my travel agent send an email to the last 10-13 people left and tell them that they must make a decision in the next week . Are you staying on the la esmerelda side? Doing a welcome party? I am trying to decide if I should have an after party at the red lounge? Or just extend the wedding for two hours? What are you doing?
Hiya Rola :) We are on the La Perla side... Our guest wanted to leave the children at home... Lol We are having a welcome BBQ, and our reception is from 6pm - 10pm... Had not thought about the after party! My bridesmaids say after the reception, my new husband and I need to disappear together for some romance... I actually can't agree more :) I so wish my guest were as cooperative as yours... Some have even booked outside of our room block :/ oh well! It is going to be a beautiful and romantic day :)
  11. Michelle - how many people do you have attending the wedding? We will be there the same week and Im sure will see each other constantly!! Have all of your guests booked? Its so hard to get everyone to book, I am still working on getting the last couple to book so I can stop stressing over guest count.. Btw- great invites!!
Hiya Rola! It would be wonderful if our guest booked... But that is only a mere dream for me... Lol We actually have a room block of 20 rooms through our travel agent and I am not even sure we will make it :(. We are making wrap up calls this week... Some people still haven't sent back RSVP cards... Shame. So far our count is 39 people... I will be so happy with no more than 50 people :) Do you have any tactics to share to push your guests to book? We are totally out of ideas! Thank you for the love on the invites! Seems like there is still so much to do! Are you having a rehearsal dinner on the resort, any other events as apart of your wedding? Xoxo - Chelle
