  1. Hi ladies! I just had a "panic" moment and wondering if anyone has any feedback to ease my mind! My beach ceremony is scheduled for 4pm end of October and I'm just wondering when the sun may set? I want time for pictures on the beach after the ceremony but am worried I'll run out of daylight! I did ask the wedding coordinator at the resort when booking and she wasn't very helpful.. I did a quick google search and it stated around 6pm the sun would set, I imagine the ceremony wouldn't be longer then a half hour so that gives us an hour and half of picture time before sun sets. Thanks!
  2. Ooo what cruise ship? I'm a travel agent and work at an agency that specilizes in cruise vacations. haha.
  3. Ah nice! My only thing is I don't want to put my guys in a full out suit. I'm looking for nice but still casual, nice pants and a dress shirt. I don't need a tie etc. Maybe I need to consider a tie as my pop of colour! haha. Dammit!
  4. Oh that is VERY pretty! How are you doing it? Are the guys wearing a navy shirt or....
  5. I love pink and gray, my house is actually gray, brown with hot pink accents. haha. BUT my concern with gray on the guys is too hot? Also would gray not be "awkward" on a beach? I dunno! haha.
  6. Hi brides to be or now Mrs! I need some advice on colour schemes. I know I want my girls in a bright pink, in particular I love the "Guava" pink colour or like a fuchsia pink colour. I'm stuck for the boys... I had originally thought nice turquoise coloured shirts with white pants but when I shared this with two friends they were totally "no way!" I was also thinking light pink dress shirts for the men but that 1.) might be too much pink and 2.) not very masculine? haha. Did/does anyone have pink in their wedding and if yes what was or is your secondary colour? Does anyone know of a good website to find colour schemes/palettes for weddings. There may be a GREAT colour with hot pinks that I'm night even considering so am open to all ideas! Except maybe yellow. haha. Thanks in advance!
  7. Thank you everyone for your responses! The # of 109 was before my fiance cut some not necessary ppl off his list, we are now at 79 people AND I've still got 7 as maybes. I think I'll be removing 6 of those though. So we'll be close to the 70 range you guys all seemed to be at. I already know for sure both my grandmothers can't make it and my aunt and cousin. They can't afford it unfortunately but we are planning to marry prior to our destination wedding at city hall and doing a nice dinner or lunch with them. So I feel much better now that we are under 100 people! That's what I wanted. Now the planning process begins! haha.
  8. How many people should you invite to your destination wedding? Currently our guest list is at 109, do we invite the whole guest list as not everyone will come or do we scale it down? How many ppl are or did you invite to your destination wedding and how many people ended up coming or are coming? Thanks brides to be!

Yikes, maybe post pone the wedding by a year and that way you have more time to plan a destination wedding? Gives your guests more time to save too! When did you get engaged?
  12. Hello fellow brides! I'm new to the site and was looking for opinions and advice! We are debating between a Dominican Republic or Jamaica wedding. We are looking at either end of August or October. First I was wondering if anyone knows of a really good website that outlines typical weather patterns for Jamaica? I know hurricane season usually starts in August and goes to November but I think I also read somewhere that Jamaica doesn't really get hit by the hurricanes.. *shrugs* Second, does anyone have experience attending a wedding or having their own wedding in Jamaica? If yes what resorts, cities and how did you find the whole event? Third are you or did you plan your destination wedding with the help of a travel agent or consolidator or did you do it on your own? Someone I know planned their destination wedding with out the help of a travel agent because she said it was more expensive to deal with a third party? Does anyone find that statement is true? Thanks in advance ladies!

That's what I'm thinking, It'll be too stressful dealing with coordinating family members etc on their "trip" for our wedding. I think I'd prefer someone else deal with that aspect of it. haha.

Hello fellow brides! My name is Meghan and my fiance Michael and I got engaged June 2011 after 4 years of dating. We are planning our wedding for 2013 and just 100% decided yesterday we are doing a destination wedding. I have always dreamed about a destination wedding but was trying to find a venue close to home to accommodate our guest list. Unfortunately the whole planning process, especially the cost of a home wedding was causing too much stress and anxiety. I finally got the "go with what your heart tells you" speech from my mum last night which was the green light to go with destination! I'm feeling so much better and excited but a little apprehensive that I have to start from scratch for planning again! haha. A few questions I'd love feedback/opinions on! We're thinking of trying for end of August to October for a wedding, we're looking at Jamaica, Dominican Republic or St. Lucia. Anyone know of a good website to check what the weather is like during those months in those destinations as I know hurricane season starts around August to November! Does anyone have experience attending a wedding or having their wedding at any of the above destinations? Any feedback on what resort and how the wedding was would be appreciated! Did you or are you planning the wedding with the help of a travel agent or consolidator or doing it on your own? Someone I know who did it on their own said they did it because doing it through a professional was more expensive? Does anyone find that? Thanks!
