Hello ladies.  I have returned from my December 8th wedding at The Royal in Playa del Carmen, and everything was wonderful.  No need to stress.  Also, we used Phoebe Landa Photography.  Barteck was our photographer and our pictures are amazing!!  http://www.weddingphotographermexico.com/

Congrats!! Looking forward to your photos!

I did 1 song for while everyone was getting seated, 1 song for my MOH (she was my only bridal party person), 1 song for my dad and I to walk down the aisle, and then 1 song for DH & I to walk back down the aisle afterwards.

    That helps so much! Thanks!

  3. Hey all!

I can't believe we are less than a month away!! And we are leaving Dec 30 and going to be at the Royal Cancun for a week prior before everyone else arrives so I have less than 3 weeks to have everything ready! We are pretty much good to go I think.  Just a few little things here and there to do.  Part of me wants to start packing so I don't forget anything. Lol!  I have been assigned Denys as my onsite wedding coordinator and have yet to hear from her...but I know this is usual from what I hear.

I am working on music and have a few questions if anyone can help?

We are going to be using a ipod/iphone for the ceremony and reception.  For the ceremony I understand that someone from the resort will run it but how does this work exactly?  Do I just have all the songs in order on a playlist?  How do I know how many songs to have for guests seating/bridal party/family walking down the isle/bride walking down?

Thanks as well for all your input and help! I know I am not as active on the forums as some brides but I am still on here alot and plan to do a review when we return!

  4. Hi all!

Thought I would jump in here! I am getting married at the Royal Playa del Carmen very soon! I also did not like any of the floral centre pieces and had planned on bring my own glass vases (only need 3) with me and then was going to add a block/foating candle.  Then I decided that travelling with glass was not the best idea.....I asked my wedding coordinator Maritza if there was any glass vases for rent and there is.  There are a few sizes 10cm-40cm and are priced 9-15$.  I am going to then bring either block or floating candles and will add some color to it somehow!

I have a picture of the vases if anyone is interested!

I am also going to write a planning thread so I can go into more details about things other than the resort and their restaurants. I will post that link once I' done!

Great review!! Looking forward to your planning thread!

For our wedding cake we ordered chocolate with raspberry filling, which we thought was great! Word of advice, their cakes are huge! So unless you have a huge party coming with you, don't let them scare you that there won't be enough cake. Another bride told me this piece of advice and I'm glad I listened. Our "tiny" cake as she called it, was enough to feed our entire group of fifteen with cake left over.

    Good to know! Thanks!

  7. We are having our ceremony on the beach and then the cocktail hour and reception at the gazebo.  I will def be wearing heels but plan to kick them off when I get to the beach and then put them on again for the cocktail hour/reception.  My dress is hemmed to my heel height, I don't think it will be too long to wear no heels...or so I hope!!  I think wedge heels is a good option if you wanted to keep the height. As far as I know the Royal PDC just puts down that carpet/isle runner.

Go with what your dreaming of!

It seems that past brides have been successful with this according to the reviews on here! I believe it is included in many of the wedding packages as well.  It is worth asking for!

    Hey ladies-

I have been trying to get some answers from my wedding planner for months now with no response...

When we booked, we were sent a document with a list of all the Menus. We booked the Classic Wedding, so which menu do we get to choose from? And if we decided on a buffet style instead is it more money per person?

Also, did they print out a copy of the menu to place on the table or is that something I should be using my wonderful Vistaprint Voucher for?

    Hey marron13!

My WC said you can pick from any of the menus, so you can mix and match!

Sorry...:( not sure about the buffet pricing.

From what I understand you have to print your own menus if you want them, they won't provide them for you.

    Hope that helps!

Let me know if you have any questions regarding the resort / wedding stuff.  Getting married at The Royal PDC was the absolute best!  Our guests had such an amazing time and many said it was the best wedding they've ever been to. :) We are STILL in wedding withdrawal.  Good luck to all you future brides out there - and enjoy the moments planning, it will end before you know it!!! :)

Maritza my off site wedding coordinator had sent me a pic of this box filled with sand, a candle and rose petals but when I had met with Zulma my on site wedding coordinator she told met that she had never seen that pic or center piece before. So I said ok well what do you use for the standard centerpiece then? She told me it was some sort of lantern thing, so I said ok thats fine. Well when I started looking at my pics, I noticed that the only thing on the tables where the sashes that I had asked her to put on the tables. So I thought centerpieces were a big deal but apparently not if I didnt even realize they were not there until I got back from Mexico!! lol we had a flower centerpiece at our bride and groom table, that came standard with the package so that was nice! I mean I am telling you that day/night goes by so fast and the things that you think are a big deal dont mean anything once you get in that moment! It was the best day I have ever had mainly bc I tried not to sweat the small things and just rocked on :)

Oh my goodness that is funny!! Yes I am beginning to think that all theses "little details" will not matter when the day is actually here.  I am also seeing how all of these "little details" can add up $$.  We chose a destination wedding to keep it simple and it's kinda hard to stick to that when alot of options are presented to you. Lol I am happy to know you didn't have any center peices and didn't even notice!

  12. Yes I had thought we had decided that the classic wedding package would be cheaper overall than the free wedding package.  But now I am thinking I may be wrong.  We are staying for 7 days(flight and air package) and to book a master suite would be a extra 1200.00 CAD for us.  I will have to recalculate it.  If we are spending that anyways I would much rather get a better room!! You gals sure keep me on my toes!

Also, booked our photographer this morning! I know its super early but I didn't want to run into the same dilemma with the photographer I wanted being booked already. We went with Photos In Cancun. I love their work and their in my budget. I got quotes from about 10 different photographers, so if anyone is looking for a photographer and needs a better idea of prices, PM me and Ill be happy to share them with you.

That's perfect! We also didn't have a choice where on the beach.  We choose the gazebo for our reception so Maritza said we had to have the ceremony on the beach in front of gazebo. I think I originally asked for the beach area in front of pelicanos too as I heard it is supposed to be more private. Exciting!!
