Just sent off our deposit for June 7, 2013 at Dreams Riviera Cancun!!

So very excited.  I can't wait.  Time flies by so we wanted to reserve it now before it got booked up, as our original date June 8th is already taken.

Hey did anyone find out if there is no open bar during dinner?  My FI are going back and forth between DRC and Now Sapphire, and I'm trying to get all costing together.

I also know that you can only use their approved DJ, DJ Visual Sounds?  Has anyone came across any reviews on him?

I think I may end up doing something similar to Shay4966.  That is such a great idea, especially being that I am making my own invites.  Shay which wedding website are you using, or are you making your own?

I think you hit the nail on the head.  As long as you and your FI are happy, what else matters?

It's funny, My FI, my future MIL and I were talking about this just last night, as we are still trying to pick a venue that is affordable for our guests and has everything we want.  At what point do you stop sacrificing the things you want for your wedding, just so that certain people will "try and make it"?

I guess after talking about it back and forth, my FI made a good point.  If we send out the save the dates in June of this year for our wedding next year, our guests can start putting aside $100-150 a month for their trip.  If that doesn't happen then, then I guess its on them.  They have more than enough time to save.  If I just have our family and our wedding party then I would be happy, anyone else that can come is an added bonus .

I think I am more excited about planning the events of the wedding (ceremony, etc) and I think it is driving everything, like wanting to book the resort now. 

I do think I need to slow down and take my time.  I know that BDW is setting up some webinars on resorts, so hopefully those will help.  I'm just new to all this, and I sometimes think the information overload on DWs doesn't help sometimes .

We are  set on Mexico as that is where my FI proposed, and we love it there.  It's just narrowing down the resorts on the Eastern side of the country (most of our guests will be coming from the East coast of the US).  There are so many good ones out there.  I've also been toying with the idea of not having it in a resort and doing something in an estate, but I know a lot more work goes into that.

What made you change your mind about Jamaica?

I've had a mix of both, some people avoiding us and others telling us that they are going to go, and we haven't even sent out invites yet.

I guess one of the reasons why we decided on having a destination wedding was that we wanted to be selective when inviting people.  We want our wedding to be a more intimate affair, with people being there that want to be there and that will celebrate our marriage, not because they are obligated to.

I come from a very Cuban family, where if I had a wedding in New York, everyone and their mother/father/sister and brother would have had to be invited, even if I don't know them.  Choosing a destination wedding cuts all that drama out, and is easier on our pockets too.

Focus on the people that can be there.  If you are as important to them as they are to you, then they will make it, or be genuine in their reasoning why they can't.

I am so excited about the Now Sapphire one.  It's the resort that I am leaning towards, so we will be checking it out!

I'm a June 2013 bride.  We are looking towards the Riviera Maya area, FI likes Dreams RC (I don't, bc they don't allow outside vendors) and I am leaning towards Now Sapphire, but I just don't know .

Although I absolutely love this site, everytime I come online, I end up seeing something better and changing my mind, and I am so anxious to book a resort, (I'm probably way ahead of the game).  I can't wait to start planning!

I actually jumped the gun and contacted TA Wendy.  She's been very helpful in answering my crazy questions! 

We are not going to pay for travel costs either, but I do think we will pay for the outfits and/or hair/makeup for the ladies on the day of in lieu of bridal party gifts.  Is it a bad to not give bridal party gifts?

Hey Everyone,

I am toying with the idea of using a TA for our wedding in Mexico, but am unsure if it's better to have a TA to meet in person or do everything over the phone/email.

Does anyone know of a good TA in the New York tri-state area?  We are planning on inviting about 80 people and expect 40-50 to come.  We would be open to someone outside of the tri-state area as well.

I'm new here.  I just came across the site today and I am so glad that I did!!  There is so much information here, and it has all been helpful, especially the pictures.

My fiance and I are shooting for a June 8th wedding, and are leaning more towards Dreams Riviera Cancun, or Now Sapphire.  Does anyone else have any other options we should look at?  We definitely want something thats all inclusive and affordable.

I was also wondering if I am planning too far in advance.  I'm a planner by nature and have already pinned so many things to pinterest for my wedding and just basically planning it all.

Anyone have advice as to when to start sending out save the dates and other information?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
