  1. Hi ladies,  Would you recommend getting my hair and make-up done at the spa? Thank you,  Emmy
I can only speak for the hair, but I think it depends on your hair and what you want. I have super thick hair and even though she made my curls super tight to allow for falling and sprayed the crap out of them, my hair ended up looking bad. One of my bridesmaids ended up re-curling my hair. On the other hand my moms hair (she did an updo) and it looked good.
  2. I just read your review. How unfortunate. He was on my top contender list...
I actually used Juan as my photographer and I was very happy with our photos. My wedding was on June 7th and we just received them. Granted there are a few duds in the mix that I could have done without, but with over 400 photos (I don't remember the exact number), there are plenty more that I absolutely love. I will see if I can post a view here.
  3. just wondering what everyone else plans on doing... is anyone taking a separate honeymoon or a few days extra at the resort after the wedding?
We are coming back into New York on the Monday after our wedding and then leaving on Thursday for Bora Bora and Moorea (surprisingly Costco had a great travel deal). It will be three times I've been to Mexico so we wanted to switch it up.

ANyway I just received my wedding video from Mike Cantarell and I would say i am about 85% happy lol I am very picky.. some of the sound quality was a little poor ( just for a few minutes during the reception ) and my cocktail hour was him basically filming the mariachi trio which was not what i pictured.. i thoiught it would be more of my guests mingling and the cocktail hour was beautiful ( on desires terrace ) and i dont think he really captured that aspect at all. it was like a mariachi concert lol i thought maybe he would get my guests to speak and so forth but that part was just dissapointing. also he didnt use most of the songs i sent him ( he asked for about 7 songs ) and used like maybe 4 total. I would still recommend that company however ( my video man was Eduardo )

I did not receive a highlight video from them that I thought I would receive. I know girls on here had posted their videos and I wanted to post mine but he never sent me anything except the final copy via mail. Does anyone know why this might be? does it come later on? Also I wish I would have paid for one extra hour because I had 5 hours of coverage and it did not get my cake cutting ;(

Overall though I think my wedding was amazing- I loved the pool deck and my beach ceremony. I think it is the perfect location. My gurests are still talking about. Also the resorts DJ played great music ( we sent a list ) and i dont see any reason to use an outside DJ. The food was excellent was well.

Here is my slideshow for anyone who didnt see it.. photographer was Santiago

You looked beautiful and so happy!

Santiago took some great photos.  I especially love the one of the little boy (your son?) holding the maraca with you and your husband in the background!

Looking at your pictures got me super excited for my wedding.  I can't wait.

Quick question, did you send the DJ a full list (songs and artists) or just artists that you wanted him to play?

How far in advance did you request final confirmation (RSVP) from your guests that are attending?? We leave for our friends' wedding May 6 and it is in Tulum so we are going to go and check out the Dreams Riviera while we are there. I can't wait, hope everyone elses planning is going well :)

I loved getting my dress! I bought it in October, which is kind of early, but hey when you know what you want you get it woot.gif

We requested that our RSVP cards be returned 2 months before the wedding, so April 7th for our June 7th wedding.  I didn't want to worry about people still trying to book or thinking about booking right before the wedding.  Plus I have to give Gina my menu selection numbers 30 days before hand.

For the people that are pretty serious you will get responses back quickly.

Out of curiosity, what dish did you chose for your fish option?

    I'm sorry I couldn't be more help.sad.gif

We decided on the sea bass with the asparagus and portobello mushrooms in the beurre blanc sauce.  The majority of my guests chose that option.

    Guys,

I just checked and I don't have them.  I have emails floating all over the place and I might have it in hard copy (I would have to check when I get home).

  10. Hi Everyone,

Can anyone give me information about the lighting?  We are thinking about doing the 20 light posts but it's $700 bucks plus 11% tax.  How many of these posts do you get?  It looks like there are 10 lanterns per post, so I'm assuming it would be two right.

Did anyone else bring or do other lighting options?  We were also thinking about doing luminaries but I don't know how much light that would give off.

    Thanks!

bgarcia1026 - are they allowing you to use the pool deck with only 45 people? It is a 60 person minimum requirement. I have about 35 guests and unless it happens to be free that day when I get there,  I have to book another location. My wedding planner confirmed it with the onsite planner.

    Hi DWB2B2014,

I had always told my coordinator that I was expecting 40-50 people to attend and it wasn't an issue.  I don't know if it is because we are having a late reception on a Friday and no one else is booked?

  13. Great! Thank you!!! I will also be including the chicken, beef and fish option in my RSVPs. By the way... Cute RSVP card!!!
No worries! Just confirm with your coordinator as we all know you have to confirm multiple times 😃 to get things done. Thanks! It was helpful to perforate the RSVP portion so they can return it easily. I will most likely give our bridal party and family an opportunity to change their selections right before I send it to Gina.

Does anyone know the procedures for a sit-down dinner? What the minimum/maximum amount of people they allow? Is there an extra cost? How many options do my guests have to chose from? How soon in advance I have to give my WC my guests' meal options?

I will be sending my formal invitations out by the end of the month and I need to know if I should include a meal option (chicken, beef or fish) on the RSVP cards. I would email my WC but I know it will take a few weeks for her to get back to me and I am kind of in a time crunch.

    Hey JustNoelle,

I'm not sure about the minimum/maximum but I have 45 guests (including me and my FI, photographer & assistant) for the pool deck with a sit down dinner.

I was able to get three options for dinner, (chicken, beef and fish) from the ultimate package and I have to provide meal choices to Gina 30 days beforehand.  I included the options on the RSVP (I included a picture).  I also numbered each RSVP with a guest specific number to help me keep track.

     400

    Hope this helps!

Yamina was mine too.  She emailed me this past Sunday, but there was no mention of her leaving.  I swear I get info on this forum faster than contacting her.  Thanks for letting me know ladies!

We decided to use Juan.  Yamina sent me his packages that were Dreams specific.  I asked her if she books him for us, or if I have to reach out to him.  I'm assuming we still get the picturs in the package, but am looking forward to hearing what you find out.

Hey tigerlily, i would just double check to see if you can bring the popcorn with you into the country.  I know Mexico is super strict sometimes with what you bring into the country.

Whats the name of the store in Chicago?  Only because I am a popcorn addict and will probably be in Chicago during October for a conference. cheesy.gif

I feel we should get married before so that when we are there with our friends and family we are celebrating the marriage (that already took place)..

He feels we should do it right after because if we are already married what is the sense in the whole walking down the isle, exchanging vows thing if in fact we are already husband and wife. He feels we can just come back and sign the papers but the symbolic ceremony is our wedding and we are considered married after it.. but i might be dissapointed when i realize the next day we are actually still not really married LOL

    I NEED OPINIONS!!!! thank you!!

Its funny, you have the same opinion as my FI and I am thinking the same way as yours.  Right now we are planning on going to city hall after we get back, and "officially" getting married.  Then the day after we were probably going to leave on our honeymoon.

I am also thinking about having my best friend get certified from the Universal Life Church and marrying us while we are in Mexico. He is such an outgoing, and funny person that I think he would put together a great ceremony for us.

From my understanding, New York (I think you are form NY right?)  accepts weddings that have been officiated by ministers from ULC.  That way you are married and all you have to do is submit the papers into city hall.

If you tell Yamina exactly what you want.. she will work it out for you- it will cost extra however. I am having the most expensive food plan but thats a big deal for us so to us its worth it. and my wedding is in feb. and i have no filled out those forms yet.. i dont think theres any rush with that! lots of luck ;)

Thanks for the advice!  I asked Yamina if I can have more than one option for the dinner and she gave me the go ahead.  I am thinking that three options would probably be best, especially if they have people's entree choices before hand.  I rather it cost extra, then having a few people not being able to eat.

My FI and are still debating between the gold and the platinum, although the platinum menu does have some of the same choices as the gold.

  21. I can't wait.  I'm going to go home tonight and get all my measurements.   Thanks for setting up this thread Shay.  We all need a little support every now and then, and getting healthy while doing it is always a bonus!

Btw ladies, I just read this today, so whenever you go and try on your wedding dress, do not feel discouraged!  Wedding dresses run small, and as long as you look and feel good in your dress thats all that matters.  cheesy.gif

In the two months of fittings before most clients†weddings at Kleinfeld Bridal in New York, seamstresses are kept busy taking in gowns. Brides-to-be say, “I donâ€t want the size 16, I want the 14 or the 12,††said Jennette Kruszka, Kleinfeldâ€s marketing director. (Note: wedding dresses run small, so a typical size 8 dress will be a size 10 or 12, a psychological shock for the young woman buying the gown. Kleinfeld resists brides who want smaller sizes, because taking a dress in is easier than letting it out.)

  22. Hey guys, Eva just introduced me to my wedding coordinator, Yamina.  I've seen her name mentioned here before.  I don't know how many coordinators they have on staff.  Eva also sent me this long questionaire.  Do I need to fill this out right now?  I really donâ€t want to have to pick out my wedding flowers when itâ€s a year before my wedding, unless I really have to.  I rather just pick out my ceremony, cocktail and reception locations now and have the other stuff wait until I am really sure of what I want.

Random questions (You guys are the best, and your answers are always honest)

Has anyone used Juan Navarro as their photographer instead of Adventure photos.  Do the photography prices jump a little if you do?

With the plated dinner, was there any issues with having a large party (40-50) ppl?  Yamina recommends a buffet, but im not sure if I want to do that.

Sorry for the questions.  I'm freaking out a bit.

    Thanks everyone!  Happy hump day!!
