I really like the Tiffany chairs but am not sure if they worth the extra money...

Not lame! I am happy to answer questions since this forum helped me so much!

We did not want to pay for upgraded chairs either so we decided to just see what we got. They are basic plastic outdoor chairs but not uncomfortable or anything at all. The white chair covers actually looked much nicer than I expected. And I originally emailed and asked what sashes were included for free and Jenny sent me 5 colors, blue, green, pink, orange, red, all just solid plain bold colors. But when we got there we told Yanna we wanted blue and she showed us two different options, one was the light blue sheer which we picked. I thought that looked much nicer! Not sure if other brides leave things, or they just have extra laying around or what but we were happy. One thing that surprised me though was we got charged $3 per chair for the number of chairs over 10. When we booked though the wedding guide did not have a price for chair covers and the latest one says $3 so maybe it changed. I didn't argue it since we only had 26 chairs. I tried to attach a picture of the whole ceremony set up but my pictures are all really big and it won't let me use any that are over 10 mb. These two kind of show the chairs more.

We saw a reception set up at the Seaside Grill while we were there and it was gorgeous! Not sure if they had the inside set up too, since the restaurant has most seating outside and on the deck, but the outside looked stunning.

Thank you! We used HDC per the reviews from this site. Charlie was the photographer and Carlos the videographer and everything turned out beautiful! I could not be happier with the photos and video!

  4. Hey ladies! We just returned from our wedding and it was absolutely amazing!! I was so stressed before getting there and wasn't getting responses from my WC Jenny but after arriving we met Jenny and Yanna and had Yanna for the wedding day. She was amazing and everything was perfect. The resort is beautiful and you have nothing to worry about! Let me know if you have any questions! I will try to post some pictures too.

I'm not sure why I got mine so fast sounds like I got lucky- I emailed Jenny with a bullet point list of things and she replied next to each which is really handy, who is your coordinator?

I also have Jenny. I emailed her a week ago to discuss the final details and I have yet to hear back! Getting a little worried since I have a few more questions for her!

We are getting married at Dreams La Romana on 11 April 2014 :) Qe've got the garden gazebo booked for 3pm, then cocktails on the pier and the seaside deck for the reception... We booked the Ultimate package so everything is included, and we've booked some extras on top of that too like gazebo drapes, flowers and the DJ. I have a few questions I am hoping for some help with please...? The ceremony - in terms of what is said at the ceremony, can I customise it? There are certain readings we'd like in place of others The Seaside Deck - is it really dark there in the evening? Is is best to book extra lighting or should I change the reception venue? The Reception - what is the "basic" tableware that you get? I have got table decorations, chair sashes and LED tea lights to take with me Thanks in advance Steph x

Hi Steph! Congrats! Since I haven't gotten married yet, I can only answer one of your questions. Another bdw bride emailed me the ceremony that DLR uses. She said you can use that, add/remove/change anything or completely write your own and they will read it.

I don't know if this is a stupid question, but what happens after this?? I haven't heard from the resort since. When do I start planning what venue and locations I want the wedding and reception??? Sorry completely new to this :)

    Hi Lili!

I agree that the resort does not contact you for a while after you make your deposit. I would suggest you choose your venues ASAP and get confirmation from the wedding planner. They do have multiple weddings per day so someone else could book the spot you were thinking! My wedding is coming closer (!!) on October 18th and I have not heard from them at all after I booked the locations months ago. From using this forum I'm not sure I expect Jenny to contact me at all, but I will be contacting her when I have my final guest count to ask a few questions and try and get a estimated price. I figured we would choose the flowers and such after we get there.

iburic, what have they contacted you about? I would love to know if I'm supposed to be doing something else :)

    Thanks!

It was really our dream come true!!! you can rest assured, Jenny and Yana are really pro in this, and they reeeeally make your day special. Even my guests were amazed with how Jenny managed to fullfil every request, so plan your dream wedding how you would like it to be, and once there at the hotel, relax and enjoy the stay with family and friends, since Jenny will take care of the rest!

I hope you enjoy the pictures of our butterflies wedding, and if you have any questions let me know and I'll do my best to help cheesy.gif

I wish all the new brides a beautiful experience, and my advice is to enjoy everything, from the first preparations to the day of the wedding, every moment is a treasured memory!

Congratulations Butterflies! Thanks for the review and all the pictures. You are beautiful and your wedding looks amazing!

I am going to do my own hair & makeup. I have been experimenting off and on for a few months now, and I really  just want him to recognize me when I walk down the aisle. :-)

Question for you that have been there - did you use the music they provided for the ceremony? How was it? What was the song used at the end of the ceremony with the champagne toast? We have some songs selected for the ceremony that we want to use, but haven't found an upbeat, celebratory one for the end yet. Any suggestions? We're using Jason Mraz "I'm Yours" for the entrance, and "God Gave Me You" by Blake Shelton for our ring warming ceremony. We'll use "Dream Big" by Ryan Shupe and the Rubber Band when we do our sky lantern release after dinner.

Congrats JenWren! Have a wonderful time!!!

We are not planning to do a cocktail reception. We are only going to have 7 guests and they are going to want to follow us around and take pictures anyway, I think. We are just going to pick a bar to congregate at before dinner, I think. We are doing dinner on the beach - for those that have - how is the lighting after sunset? I requested some tiki torches and candles on the table, but I didn't give any specifics other than to use the "altar" centerpiece as the dinner table centerpiece. We thought about the wedding gazebo for dinner - how far is the main white gazebo from the rustic beach gazebo? It looks like it's all the way across the resort.

I am also wondering about lighting on the beach. We will be having dinner there as well. I saw one bride on here a few years ago with rope lights - does anyone know if we can bring rope lights or regular string lights to put on trees? I reserved our ceremony time at 4 pm but Jenny never asked for cocktail hour or dinner time yet. Does anyone have any suggestions on timeline?

  11. Thanks jessicalynneh and Vancouver Bride! It helps to see both of your circumstances since you had such different size weddings. We are planning to get the complimentary wedding package and add on the things we want, and should have only around 30 guests. So far Jenny has only asked me for the date, time and location, and sent back a short confirmation letter. We still have plenty of time and don't have any guests booked yet, but now I will be sure to spell everything out and get a quote a few months before we go. We are working with a travel agent (Patty from this site) so I will also ask her if she can help.

Vancouver Bride, did you like the officiant you got? I'm glad to hear they will perform the ceremony in English! This is one part I have not given much thought to yet, although it's a pretty important part! I would love to see the script they gave you. I will PM you as well. I also see that you added on the extra silver dinner and open bar, but not a cocktail hour. Did you do a cocktail hour before dinner? If so, did they set up the bar by then? I want to provide something for the guests to do for the hour between the ceremony and dinner but if we add on the cocktail appetizers I feel like no one will be hungry for dinner! But it would be nice to have the bar available at that time.

I also have another random question for you ladies... did you tip the resort staff regarding the wedding? I have heard some people say you are not expected to tip at all, and some say you should tip 20% like we do in the US. I am wondering if we are expected or not to tip the coordinator, officiant, waiters, etc. on the day of.

    Thanks!!

  12. Thanks for sharing Vancouver Bride! I'm so glad everything worked out well for you. Did you receive this quote before you got there or while you were there? I am wondering if I should ask for a quote before the wedding to compare to the final bill. And final bill in pesos/Spanish - wow! I thought they accepted USD.

This is the first I've heard of $60 for the officiant. I hope there are not too many other surprises like this! Who was your officiant and how did you like them? Did you write your own ceremony for them to read or did you just use what they had? I also thought I heard somewhere that they include speakers for the ceremony at no cost. I see this is not true!

I truly appreciate your tips and answers to all of my questions that I can't find answers to anywhere else! Once I got my date confirmed and made the deposit, Jenny doesn't really respond to my emails anymore sad.gif

  13. Congrats and welcome back Vancouver Bride! Thanks for sharing your reviews and pictures! They are beautiful! Would you mind sharing what happened with the extra venue fee? I believe something similar happened to another bride too. Can I ask how much you were charged for the fabric decorations on the gazebo? I think the flowers are not needed at all.

We are in the process of book our wedding here! I am having a hard time deciding on which package to choose though! If anyone could give me some advise I would love to hear it. I am wondering if you have to pay extra's for things like the sash's on the chairs in all three of the packages? Does any of the packages come with a dance floor for the reception? I am also wondering if you have to pay extra to have the reception on the seaside deck. I am not sure if I am reading their information properly. I was adding everything up and it seemed even with the top package with decorations and such the price comes to around $5000. Is this correct? It seems more then I had expected but maybe my expectations were off. I would love any feedback.

    Hi APNK,

Congrats on choosing your wedding at DLR! I can give you my opinion on your questions. There is no charge for the white chair covers, sashes or table linens. The sash colors they have for free are fuchsia, green, orange, red or turquoise. Jenny also told me any other color is available for $3 each. Comparing the wedding guide last year to the new one this year, they increased the price of the dance floor and have 3 specific sizes available. Since it isn't listed under any of the wedding packages I would assume none of them include it for free. We decided to choose a beach reception and are not planning on getting the dance floor, so hopefully it will be fine to dance on the sand! I also asked Jenny about the reception locations and prices because I was seeing a lot of conflicting information. The free reception areas are beach, garden and ballroom. Any restaurant is $500 and the Seaside Grill deck is $300. I'm not sure what you are including to reach your total price. For me, I separated each included item for each wedding package and then compared to the "free" (when you meet the room requirements) wedding package with adding in the items we wanted. We decided a lot of the things included were things we didn't want anyway so we are choosing the free wedding package and adding what we do want. Although this package includes no dinner, you can add that on separately by the per person price.

    I hope this helps!

Jassmaine, I know it isn't ideal, but when you are there in person, things will smooth out.

We were married October 27, the first real sunny day since Hurricane Sally. It was amazing, and beyond anything I could have hoped for. I will do a full review soon!

Vancouver bride: I saw them setting up your ceremony and then later saw you doing some photos. You looked gorgeous! Hope you got to enjoy mostly sunny weather!

Congratulations and welcome back Andreanna!! I'm so glad everything was amazing!

    Looking forward to your pictures!

  17. kkimi, I do not have an answer about exactly what veg options are available, but I did ask Jenny before we booked if we could have a vegetarian menu. She said yes! So I figured we would wait and see what the options are but at least I know they will offer veg. I still don't understand if the bride/groom choose one option for everyone or guests get a choice... if anyone could clear that up I would appreciate it!

  18. @Kelly Horton - Hi and welcome! I think I can help with a few of your questions. You can download the wedding guide if you haven't yet here: http://www.dreamsresorts.com/drelr/plan-your-wedding.html . It has the silver and gold menus. I do not know what types of drinks are included with the silver bar, but I am interested too if anyone else knows! As for the SSG, I posted above what Jenny answered when I asked a few days ago. The beach/pool/ballroom receptions are included, but the SSG deck or Oceana deck have a fee - $300 & $500. Jenny also sent me another PDF called "wedding presentation" which I will email to you right now. It has some additional pictures that might help you.

  19. @Clare-Marie - my plans are going great. Right now I am still pricing everything out and have not booked yet. We are actually thinking of a date during fall 2013 - it seems so far away! Have you looked into having dinner at one of the restaurants since you have a small party? I believe they will set up a special table for you that is semi-private. I also heard there is a room available in between two of the restaurants that seats up to 12 people. Someone else might have more details about this or you could ask Jenny.

@jessicalynneh - thank you! We don't have a guest count yet, but it might be around 40. I did get the buffet prices from Jenny since my last post, but thanks for your offer. Hope your planning is going well!

  20. Thank you Clare-Marie! Jenny did email me back last night. These are my questions and her answers:

The Wedding Guide says reception options are only beach, pool, or ballroom, but the document you sent me also has the Seaside Deck and Oceana Deck. Are those available too, or is the policy changing?[Jenny]  no, those three areas are without extra fee, other restaurant (US$ 500.00 fee) are available upon request, the sea side grill deck is US$ 300.00 fee, prices are negotiable for groups over 45.
What is the pricing/policy for a buffet reception?[Jenny]  the buffet selections are for groups with 40 guest minimum.

So I did get my questions answered about the reception sites. If you find out anything additional about the buffet prices please let me know.

    Thanks!
