  1. Hey JayKay and all others who so far have gotten married in 2012. I got a response in regards to the additional cost of $250. I was told that it is mandatory for all weddings for 2012. This was a response from Chandlyn and she said that so far all brides have been paying this fee. I'm confused cause I thought I heard you ladies paid $200? Soo frustrating. Less than three weeks. Can't wait.
  2. Thanks for the advice JayKay. I did email her back today asking for clarification. It's frustrating because we are already paying for the Unbelievable package, we have 29 ppl coming so the package was the most cost effective for us. To have only a month to come up with an extra $250 is a bit unfair and this is extra money on top that we haven't really accounted for in our budget.
  3. Did anybody else get this message from the wedding planners today? As per our head office, there will be an additional cost of USD 250.00 to the wedding packages. This cost is for the Legal and Government Fees and applies to all guest getting married at the resort. We are looking forward to working with you and cannot wait to welcome you to our resort.
  4. We arrive March 12th in the afternoon and fly out on the 20th. What time is your wedding at? My fiance and I would love to take a peak. We get married at 2pm on Friday. The planning has been ok. I'm not too picky about things and since we only had six months to plan/organize the wedding our budget hasn't allowed us to do too many extras. We got travel mugs for our guests as a thank you and helped our wedding party with their outfits. For now, we need to organize the little things for our big day such as the MC duties and vows (if we say personal ones). How about your planning? So excited.... we will be there in 30 days. I can't wait for a holiday and our wedding.
  5. We definitely get to Jamaica earlier but we leave an evening earlier than originally planned. The flight from TO to Montego Bay is three hours and Van to TO is 4.5 hours. Depending on which airline you choose, there can be anywhere from 2-4 hours between flights. It will take us about 11 hours to get there too and it's pretty much the red-eye. There didn't seem to be any other choice. I'm just happy to be going and can't wait to get married! - Angela
  6. Still new at this. This was meant for you cdnbridelinzy My fiance and I had a freak out this week too because our flight with Thomas Cook is not flying direct to Jamaica from Vancouver anymore. We chose our package based on that. Apparently there isn't enough business even though I know our flight was full. Even our second choice, Air Transat, isn't flying direct anymore. Fortunately West Jet will be taking our group of 21 people down via Toronto AND we will be arriving earlier than expected. We now get to enjoy the after noon of March 12th instead of just arriving at 11h30pm.

  8. Sorry if this has been posted twice, it’s my first post. Hi everyone! It's taken me about two weeks to read all of the posts and there has been such great advice. I know we have made the right choice with the Gran Bahia Jamaica. I'm getting super excited for my wedding taking place on March 16, 2012 and my fiancé has a countdown going on as well. I saw two others who will be getting married during the same week as my trip and perhaps we will spot each other. I have been dealing with Donnalee and I haven't had any issues with her and my emails have been answered within three days each time. My fiancé and I have only had 6 months to prepare this wedding and we have only had a few requests of her. She has confirmed a few days ago that we will have the gazebo for after dinner dancing and that has made me ecstatic. We have 27 people and the cost of a bartender is too much for us since we have had such a short time to save up for this wedding. I was curious if any of you knew how much bottles of rum cost from any of their boutiques? or if it is easier to tip a bartender for a few bottles? Those of you who have had the DJ, does he play his music off of a computer or a CD player? We have some specific requests (Journey - Don't Stop Believing) and our First Dance song (Jason Mraz - I'm yours) and I want to know if it's easier to bring my iPod or burn a CD. I wanted to share one of our welcome gift ideas. We have given all of our guests a custom-made travel mug from 4imprint.ca. They are an awesome company for all of the Canadian brides who want items personalized. We got our logo and wedding color (purple) put on it and they look fantastic. Angela To Tris: I LOVE your hairstyle from your wedding, it’s exactly what I want and now I know how to describe it.
