  1. Thank you for your kind words! We are loving married life as I am sure you will too! I think about OCT all the time and wish I was there right now! Ericaa849: Ana did not physically take us around to pick what we wanted. However, we had already e-mailed her the places for our reception and ceremony. If you are unsure, she will def. take you around to see your options. I asked her a million questions when I was there-but don't worry! She is very patient.
  2. Hey Ladies! I just read on OCT's FB page that you can now broadcast your wedding from the resort! The people who couldn't make your wedding can watch from home

  4. Hi Ladies! I am finally ready to post my review! We have a fabulous time relaxing, basking in the sun and of course, getting married. Here is my review of the resort. (Borrowed the format from some others.) Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Overall Experience: Lovely! Everything about the resort was wonderful. Our flight ended up getting canceled the day we were supposed to come home, so they shipped us over to Dreams Resort. I saw a wedding there, which was beautiful, but am very happy with our choice of OCT. I would do it all over in a heartbeat. I don’t think you will be disappointed. Rooms: I really loved the layout and decor of the rooms. It made for some great pictures on our wedding day. Comfy beds! Stocked fridge with waters and soda. The resort is very modern with bold colors and a Mexican feel. Some complained about the “musty†smell but I really think that is hard to avoid with the climate and amount of humidity entering the rooms. They were very clean and well taken care of. Some have double twin beds while others have King sized beds. Keep this in mind for your guests. Some of our married guests were given two twin beds. For the amount of time you will spend in your room- they were perfect. Food: Keep in mind I am a very “non picky†eater! I thought the food was very good. When I traveled to the Dreams Resort- it was evident Dreams had better quality food, however, I was quite happy with the food at OCT. Casa Del Mar: We ate the buffet breakfast every morning at Casa Del Mar. (The only breakfast available.) I loved it! They had everything imaginable. Kids choices too. Made to order eggs. Fresh fruit. (Mango and guava!) Pancakes/Waffles/ Cereal. Dinners and lunches were great. They try to have a different dinner theme each night~ American, Mexican and so on. I could have ate there every day. Italian Restaurant: We also ate at the Italian Restaurant for our romantic dinner. (I did not care for my meal- but my hubby loved his.) The Italian Restaurant has different menus for their outside guests than inside. I heard the outside salmon was delish. I would def. try it again. The Score: We ate here once- food was good. Fries come with everything! The Villa Marina: This is buffet style for lunch. It was very convenient and located near pools. They have a small selection, but nice if you want something small to hold you over for dinner. They also have dinners here, which you order from a menu. I had the Hawaiian Skewers! Yum! * These are the only restaurants we visited. I wish I would have tried the Japanese one. Maybe next time! Pools/Beach: There were three main pools that we were able to use during our stay. (1. Kid’s pool. 2. Swim Up Bar Pool- Party Pool! 3.The main activity pool. The 4th is for Privilege only.) All three were great. The pools are spaced apart, which is nice. My husband! And I used the kid’s pool often. It was the most quiet and relaxing. Everyday they had water aerobics, fun music, and games for children. Be aware everyone puts their towels down to hold a spot. The resort has signs saying not to, but everyone does. This makes it hard to find a spot at time. However, if you get down to the pool area by 9, you should be good. The beaches were very calm. I loved the canopies! There was a lot of seaweed, but workers come by to remove it as much as possible. It did not bother me much. I did think I was going to see clear blue water! Instead, the water was murky. I was a little bummed but some days were more clear than others. Hospitality: I will just say the people at OCT are by far the kindest, most hard working people I have ever met. They are so friendly and make you feel welcome and loved. Ha! Silly but true. (Not to keep comparing this to Dreams, but the staff there was SO unfriendly and not welcoming at all. Sorry to make such a harsh generalization- a few were nice, but nothing like OCT.) Some people said the staff goes above and beyond if you Privilege, but I did not find that. They were so nice to all of our guests. Now the wedding! Just some background: I traveled with 13 of my family members. We had a very low-key and simple ceremony with a dinner reception. I did not bring any decor or extras. We did not hire a DJ or traditional wedding events. Feel free to ask me something unrelated to my wedding- I saw a few while I was there and may be able to help! We chose the Romantic package. Meeting with Ana: Ana is the best. She is very calm and reserved but listens to your requests and thoughtful before she responds to you. I met with her two days after I arrived. Our meeting took 20-30 minutes. We also met with the doctor for our blood work. (He was so kind…) She showed me some pictures from a book and also used her computer to show me flowers, table set up, sashes and so on… That day our 4 witnesses had to come to her office to sign paper work. She could not have done a better job. Getting ready: I began getting ready at 1:15. My hair/make-up was scheduled at 2. (Ana arranged this for me at our meeting) I brought a few pictures of how I wanted my hair and make-up. Litzi (Who I thought was a man?? Some people say he is a she? LOL) Either was he/she was amazing. He/She far exceeded by expectations with hair and make-up. I would put your faith in Litzi. My make-up was flawless and my hair turned out great. The back did fall out a bit at the night went on. Bring bobby pins! My mom and sister also had their hair done by Vicky. She did a great job too. I got a mani/pedi the day before by Vicky. ($80 total.) Ana gave me 15% discount My hair was around $84 and make-up $64 with the discount as well. My sister and mom also received discounts. It took about 45 minutes to do my hair and 15-20 for my make-up. Flowers: I chose pink and yellow roses, as well as white lilies and greens (Not sure what they were.) There is a picture hanging in her office wall of the bouquet I wanted. They were so pretty! I also was given a similar centerpiece for our wedding ceremony, which they brought to our dinner as well. I ordered extra boutonnieres for all of the men who attended ($14 USD) and corsages for the moms (Don’t remember price, sorry!) My sister was given a smaller version of my flowers. Ana’s assistant brought my flowers and all other flowers to my room about 20 minutes before go time. My sister’s BF had to run the boutonnieres down to our wedding guests. Ceremony: Around 4:45 my guests had arrived and I waited in my room got Ana’s assistant to escort myself, MOH and dad down to the site. They drove me in a golf cart (seated 6) to the site. It was fun! The assistant helped time everything out. Perfect! The only glitch was, the person operating the music was not familiar with Ipods and fumbled with our “marriage license signing†music. The officiant was very nice with a good sense of humor. I mentioned before, he stood far behind our guests near the speakers. This made for nice pictures. I was somewhat sad about how little I had to say during the ceremony. I only said I DO! The civil ceremony is required to be scripted but someone mentioned you could have added your own vows. Ana made it sound as if we could not deviate from this and was not able to meet with the officiant before hand. I am sure he would be willing to add some items in if he was able. Doesn’t hurt to ask! After we were married we had champagne toast with our guests and pictures. Reception: At 6:20, we headed up to the lobby terrace for our reception. We had our first dance and ate. The food was awesome! We had feta and tomato salad (This may be too strong of a taste for picky eaters- but I thought it was great… see pics on my link.) We also had cantaloupe sherbet. Our main course was surf and turf. The steaks were mostly done well to medium well. Our vegetarian friends had the veg. strudel. Everyone loved the food. For dessert we had wedding cake (Vanilla with vanilla fondant) Also, very good! They asked if we wanted to keep to eat the next morning. I said no, for some reason. Boy, was I mad I did’t say yes. I have been craving that cake ever since! J Like I said, my guests basically ate dinner and relaxed. We had the ipod playing and we did some slow dancing, but no fast. It was very nice. After dinner we went back to the room to change, then went downstairs to the lobby for a drink with some of our guests. One more thing about the ipod- the person working the ipod had no idea how to work it.... I had to tell him several times what to play when. He didn't really get it. I guess I should have hired someone for this job! Other events: My husband and I had breakfast in bed the next morning. It was very sweet. J We also chose to have our romantic dinner a few days later- I didn’t realize we could have ate on the beach and chose a restaurant. I saw another couple eating on the beach- it looked very romantic! I hope this review was helpful! Please contact me if you have any questions. I would be glad to help. [email protected] -Kristi
  5. Jdavidso- When I spoke to Ana she explained they are pretty strict about the civil ceremony. However, I would request talking to your officiant before and ask. They may be able to work some things in. I did not have the option to talk with him prior to the ceremony- but if you ask early enough, I am sure you can see him The officiant who conducted our ceremony was very nice- he did not stand where they typically stand. He stood far behind our guests with a microphone, instead of between my fiance and I. It was kind of funny because I did not know where he was coming from at first! I do not know if they are all like that, but he did.
  6. Hi Ladies! I am back from our OCT wedding! I will report as soon as I can. Our flight was cancelled yesterday so I am running on 3 hours of sleep! I was able to peak at Sandy's wedding, which was devine! Feel free to e-mail me any questions: [email protected] I'd be happy to help! P.S. I do not have the exact wording for the civil ceremony, but here is the brief rundown. Civil Ceremony: (10-15 minutes) Processional Presentation of the bride Welcome and gathering words Reflection of marriage and love (He read a traditional piece from Mexican weddings) Witnesses/Bride/Groom sign marriage certificate Declaration of consent (Saying I DO) Presentation of Rings (We did not have to say anything- just exchange rings.) Pronouncement of husband and wife Introduction of husband and wife Recessional *I was not aware that the civil ceremony could not be deviated from. Ana said it has to be scripted. You may be able to try to ask them to add something in, but I don't know if they can or will. I was not able to meet with the officiant before to ask. The only thing I had to say during the ceremony was " I Do." I was a little disappointed I didn't repeat traditional vows, but since I didn't meet with him beforehand, I did not know what to expect!
  7. Thanks! I am off to OCT in the morning! Wish me luck. Miss Sandy- I am sure I will run into you somewhere, somehow. If not before your big day, have a wonderful wedding! You did an amazing job planning and all of you hard work will show... I'll report back with my reviews when I return! Love, Kristi
  8. I know this has been answered before- but dress code for restaurants? Should by "hubby" bring pants and closed shoes? How about ladies? Thanks!
  9. Can anyone tell me about the documents you have to sign and finger printing.... when does this take place during the ceremony? Thank you!
  10. ErikaK- Welcome! My fiance and I had looked at many resorts in this area. When it came down to it- we chose this site because of this forum! and the price. We wanted it to be affordable for our guests. This was one of the most affordable that we found. We also, are having a very small wedding of 15 people. If you work your way through this forum, the former brides always had positive things to say about Ana and OCT.. I hope this helps! Good luck!
  11. Did you ladies bring your own make-up to apply- or did the salon supply the make-up? -K
  12. Our wedding is two weeks from today! I can't believe it is almost here. Every morning I wake up and it dawns on me I am going to be someone's wife. LOL! Feels like a dream. These little details are keeping me up at night- but I just keep remembering what you all have said about Ana. I have confidence in her! Sandy! I will see you very soon my dear!
  13. Camilla S! Congrats! Woohoo.. time is going to fly by- happy planning to you.
  14. Shannon~ From what I have heard- hair and make-up is decent at the resort! Brides have suggested to bring pictures of what you want your hair to look like.... "Litzi" is the most requested stylist! -Kristi
  15. Camilla S. I agree with Sandy! While planning my wedding I have learned to really follow your instincts. I know that sounds cliche, but it is so true. If there is a little voice inside your head telling you what to do: Listen to it. You won't regret it. I think both of your color options would be beautiful in pics. The bright colors make gorgeous photos, but so do the soft! I think you really can't go wrong with your ideas! Your mom's fav. color is yellow? That is so sweet to consider using it! Good luck to you- we patiently awake to see what you choose! -K
  16. Now that my head won't shut up-- I am thinking I should not opt for a cake type dessert- if we are having wedding cake. Veteran OCT girls: Did you serve your wedding cake and dessert at the same time and had your guests choose or did they eat both? That sounds silly- but I love dessert! Tropic Lover: Thinking of it now it probably would have been a good idea to provide cake boxes so our guests could bring it back to their room for a late night snack. Great thinking!!!!
  17. Thank you for getting back to me. You ladies rock and are so full of knowledge! Sandy- sending you the cake choices..... Another question: Who controls your ipod as you walk down?
  18. One more thing! If the desserts are separate- I wouldn't want one of the cake options and then our wedding cake too....
  19. Never mind- I found it! Any suggestions of what is the best choice? I am not picky what-so-ever- but some of my guests are...
  20. Hey Ladies! The dessert option that comes with our meal is completely different than the wedding cake served or are they the same? Does anyone have the types of wedding cake choices available? I know I have it somewhere....! Thanks! -K
  21. Thanks for the advice! I am already over it....! Tropic Lover!!! Your pictures are absolutely amazing! Everything about your wedding was perfect-from your dress, to your guests to the cake!! Loved loved loved it. Congrats to you! <3 K
  22. I hate to be a Debbie Downer and def. not trying to discourage anyone! I guess I'm looking for reassurance... http://news.yahoo.com/travel-warning-mexico-possible-violent-retaliation-against-americans-143445504--abc-news-topstories.html What do you ladies think? I feel like horrible statements are always said about MX. Tomorrow Yahoo will post an article how Mexico is a top rated vacation spot. When we first planned our trip, we had a ton on opinions- "don't go to Aruba, it's dangerous"... blah blah blah.... Thanks!
  23. Thanks Ladies! Sandy- great find! Sandy- I can't find the link- but I could have sworn I saw a picture of OCT and fireworks... I'll keep searching!
  24. Can anyone tell me how close your room was to your guests? Is this something that Ana controls? (We booked through Expedia.) Thanks!
