All of you ladies who chose the Beach resort, I'd love to hear some reassurance and reasons why you selected it! I'm sure my excitement will come back, just right now the nerves & unknown are overshadowing it...

Hi Krista,  we got married at the Beach resort in January and you have nothing at all to worry about! We picked the Beach because of the price being more reasonable to ask people to pay, and I am so glad we didn't pay the extra for the suites or grand.  We had a group of over 50 people and everyone loved the place. We had a suite room overlooking the beach and the ceremony location on the beach, it was great, but then again we are usually on the beach or at the pool, not in the room on vacation.

there was one day that I noticed was a bit busier then the others and then at the end of the day heard an announcement for the cruise ship people to leave, but that was one day only, and still never felt like the resort was full.

The food was great, lots of loungers at the beach and pool, great service, etc. the wedding coordinator was Santena when we were there,  she was also wonderful to work with, and she didn't just ditch us after the ceremony, she was around almost the whole time to make sure everything went smoothly. Overall, I wouldn't have changed anything at all!

If you have any specific questions just let me know :)

  2. Two big questions: 1)  Does anyone have a daily activity list for IRHS and IRHB??  I would like to start formulating our week schedule based off of the activities they have going on at the resorts, but I don't want to bug the WCs.  If no one has one, I will email the resort when it gets closer.  2)  Cost question:  Do we pay the cost of the wedding and the reception dinner when we get to the resort?  And, is that put on credit card?  Also, how about the flowers (Tai Flora) and musicians.  Do they all take credit card or cash and when do we pay them?   I am just wondering what to plan for.  I even ordered a no foreign transaction fee card for all of these expenses!  Again, if no one knows this answer, I will ask the WC as it gets closer.   Sorry for all the questions on a Saturday morning!   Hope everyone is having a great time planning!!   Court
hey Court, i believe at IRHB they prefer payment for the wedding package and extras by credit card, no sure exactly when, likely anytime after the wedding. i also read that payment for musicians is in cash to the WC before hand. i would imagine you pay the florist directly. not sure if any of this has changed since i got the info but thought i would pass it along! i am not sure of activities other that there is (unless this change too) a beach party on thursday nights. hope that helps a bit :)

I don't know what you've decided, but I'm using SunGold's Associates (Clayton is our photographer) for our pictures.  They do hourly pricing also.  The pricing sheet I have is $400 per hour and includes a DVD so you can print them at home.  Even if you did 3 hours that would be less than $1500.

We have a 3 session package, so we did engagemnt pictures with Clayton in May.  They came out beautiful!!  And he was so much FUN to work with!! You could even budget and do a 2 hr session with him for $800.  I can get you his info if you'd be interested.

Thanks for the info everyone. Heather -  we had a look at Clayton's work and we both really liked it so we are going to go with him as well :) one less thing to have to worry about that day, the last thing i would want is to be worried that we won't have any good pictures from the day!

We went for a site visit last May, and they took our pictures on the beach.  (they walk around all day taking them and you can go to their office to purchase)  I refused to buy even one of them.  They were definitely overpriced and very low quality.  My only advice to you, your day will go so quick you won't remember half of it... is the gamble worth not getting quality pictures?

ew that sucks.  but thanks for the feedback :)  i have a few emails out to get some prices so I will continue with that.  I actually received Clayton's info from Paula yesterday so that's great to hear you enjoy working with him and his work was good! I have asked her a few questions so will wait for her reply.

Does anyone happen to know what the fee is to bring a photographer onto the resort? I know some cover it for you but just want to know in case I find someone that doesn't cover it.  Not sure if its a day pass or vendor fee or if it all depends on the amount of time they are there?

    Thanks!

Unfortunately the pictures were not good, the photographer did not use our suggestions AND the lighting was horrible and pictures came out fuzzy. I just wanted to share my experiance I would not want future brides to have bad wedding pictures... That was just my opinion!

Hmm, interesting.  We decided to go with DigiPix in January because they offered smaller packages and we don't need 200 pictures, and hadn't budgeted $1500 for pictures (which seems to be the average price with photographers for small packages).  I checked DigiPix's website and some pictures look good and others are horrible... Has anyone else had any other experiences with them?  I would hope out of all the pictures they will take, we could find at least 35 good ones!

  6. Thank you all for the comments on the resort salon, I have booked them for hair and make-up :)  One less thing to worry about!

Sjay - i checked out Merrick's site and he work looks great, much better than a lot of other photographers I have check out.  I was wondering if you would mind also sending me his info when you get a chance ([email protected]).  I am also looking for a smaller picture package, with coverage for 2 or 3 hours and a DVD with the pictures, nothing fancy :)  Thanks so much!

  7. After much debate and going back and forth, we've decided to stick with the white shirts for the guys even though my dress is ivory. I figure everything will all look different in natural light anyway, and with the guys beige pants, everything will tie in together nicely. Found this older thread on the same topic with pics and I think it looks great with ivory, white and beige. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/77275/bride-in-off-white-ivory-dress-me-in-white-linen-suit

  8. Hello my fellow Canadian Brides!!  I'm looking for an affordable photographer for engagement photos in the Halton region area (e.g. Oakville, Burlington, Milton, Etc...) We would like an artistic style and someone who is under $200 for 1-2 hour session. We love the style of Renaissance Studios in Kitchener but they are almost $500 for 2 hours! Any suggestions?? Thanks so much!!
Hi there, A friend of mine is a photographer in Kitchener, not sure exactly of her prices, her site is lauraburrellphotography.com if you want to check it out!
  9. Gosh, he/we have checked so many places we can't even keep track anymore...checked Mexx and Le Chateau, nothing off-white.  Good idea about Tommy Bahamas and Brooks Brothers - thanks!
Question about the off white shirt topic... This was something I never thought of and go figure, my dress is ivory and the guys shirts are stark white. Has anyone considered dyeing the shirts? I am thinking that may be the way to go since they already bought their shirts and it was hard to please them to begin with... Thoughts?
  10. Anyone have or are considering cutting their cake on the beach after their ceremony? I'm trying to avoid running out of time during the reception and thought it may be nice for ppl to have cake then instead of a cocktail party.
Hi there! Yes, I think we are going to have the cake on the beach. As of now we are going to have a 4:30 ceremony, followed by cake and champagne and then a cocktail hour from 5:30 to 6:30. We want to try and keep the group together until dinner so people don't feel like there a big gaps of time between everything. That was one piece of feedback I have heard from people who have been to destination weddings is that they felt like they didn't know what to do after the ceremony so people know just went their separate ways.
  11. When did or when are you planning to hand out your OOT bags?  I'm debating whether to do it at the airport or transport 50+ bags down there to hand out at our welcome party.  I'm thinking handing them out there would be cool, but at the same time I don't want the hassle of hauling down over 100lbs of stuff along with all my other wedding stuff.
I debated all of this too and we decided to give them out at a meeting and greet gather we are having for those going. I couldn't be bothered to lug them there along with all of the stuff we already have to take. And then I figure people have enough to juggle at the airport I didn't want to add another thing for them, plus we are putting sunscreen in each bag so people can't even put it in their carry on, they would have to try and put stuff in their checked bag. Giving them out before just seemed way easier.

  13. Hello Erin, No Mine got moved to the 27th because the 28th was booked, guess I know by who now lol. Don't worry Love, it's all good
Ah! Sorry about the conflicting date thing but it's kind of relieving to know they have stuff together and know what dates are booked already! I still feel like it's so far away. Do you (or anyone for that matter) know if you take items for centerpieces and guest favors, will the coordinators set the. Up? I am wanting to take my own simple ones but hope they will set them up...
  14. haha, thanks Marcy!!!!! ( small world that our wedding is on the same day eh? haha)  Thanks for the tips!!!
Hey ladies! Good to know the timing of the ceremony etc, I was wondering that too! You guys have me into panic mode though, Marcy, are you on January 28 at Rose Hall Beach?? I hope not because I received confirmation for that date but Britt mention you guys are on the same day!? I have been having fears of that happening lol
  15. I also completely agree with you Allie! I am not getting married until January so as long as I know my date is confirmed I am happy until Nov or even Dec! I would rather take a back seat now and have them be there for me 100% come our time. I know it can be frustrating but in the big picture, it's less stressful than a big at home wedding...I think at least! So, just sit back, relax with a drink and think about how great it will all be!
