I'm still getting used to the circle cutter, so this one was a bit rough looking.  Practice makes perfect!!

Thanks to Coconoir for the door hanger template!  I got the ideas for the sayings from different forums on here about door hangers. :)

The DIY lab will be open all weekend!!  LOL!

Today, upon my arrival was a box.. well since I shop online mostly, we are always receiving boxes smile159.gifbut this was wedding related.  Here are pictures of our cake knife, server and forks which were made by a vendor on Etsy.  The server is engraved with "The Wrights        April 21, 2012"  I may send the forks back to have them engraved one with a C and the other a D, if I find it too costly to do here or if they can't match the print.

Many of you know that I am winding down from quite a few DIY projects with the following left:

~ Putting our wedding program together (programs printed last week)

~ Place cards (I have a few formats that I am working with, however; I won't print these until Mid-February. Final payment for everyone is Feb 3rd)

As mentioned before I have some extra paper left over so, after I accomplish the above I may try my hand at a few things that are "not essential" and will do so only if time permits.  So, now that I will be focused on decor I wanted to take stock of the items that we already have, along with those that are in the works so that I will only buy what is needed.  In doing so, I realized that I didn't take a picture of the first 2 wedding items that we brought prior to moving in our home.  Both are from Etsy vendors. Knowing me I totally have more stuff that I put away and since I only went through one box .

  3. I know with the new packages you get the wedding coordinator included. I dont know if that is the difference if some of you have the old packages.

So, what am I doing wrong!?  I have managed to only get my information about wedding locations, food, etc... from several of you!  THANK YOU, I am muy appreciative and you have kept my sanity up til now!  But....recently after reading through this thread, how are so many that contacted MP after me getting so much more info from them?  I feel like I am doing something wrong and I have been trying to be very patient!  I am saying this, because now I am getting stressed that my wedding is going to be fly by the seat of your pants type event.  I feel like I can't do anything until someone will answer all my questions and I have yet to have them answered by anyone associated with MP.  They REFUSE to reserve my locations until 90 days before despite my consistent attempts to contact them!!!!  And one of the locations is already booked, so another question is, if I can't book my locations now, how did so many others!!!!!  HELP!!!!  What do I do!?!?!?!  I am feeling stressed now!  :(   crybaby2.gif

  4. These are SUPERRRR cute!!! Do you just want to do all the planning for my wedding when your done with your own because everything you put together is great!!!

I have some questions that I'm hoping you can help me answer...

I noticed that some of you are using outside vendors, but I read somewhere (maybe my contract) that outside vendors aren't allowed.  I want to use fresh flowers for my bridesmaid bouquets if possible and I want some for centerpieces, but from the limited info I have, Palace flowers are really expensive.

Also, does anybody know anything about the old wedding packages versus the new ones?  When I signed my contract, I chose one of the old ones, but I'm wondering if they are going to change them to the new ones.  Anybody know anything about this?

Is anyone shipping wedding stuff down there before hand?  With baggage fees, I'm wondering if it's cheaper to just UPS (or other mail service) my stuff down there (though I have no stuff yet).

Last question (I promise... well this time anyway), what's the best way for me to find pictures of the outdoor locations for receptions/cocktail hours and of the gazebos for the ceremony?

Thanks so much in advance for your help!

    Nickey

  6. Ohh thats such a good little blurb to put on there!! I'm stealing it, thanks!!

  7. Ohh thats horrible. We were kind of having the same issue with my parents when we first mentioned it all. Its bc they weren't use to this "idea". In the end all that matters is that you and your FI will be there! Don't loose focus of the reason why your going there! Its what you as a couple want!!

I'm just getting back on here after about a week off since it was my birthday so I put aside wedding planning for a bit!  And I needed a break since (here comes the venting) we just found out for sure that my fiance's family isn't coming to the wedding.  And when I say we found out I mean that I got back the RSVP reply with no!!!  Not even a phone call or anything to apologize- I guess to them its no big deal that their oldest child is getting married!  I just feel horrible for my fiance, but he says he is ok with it because this is how they are.  They have used every excuse to get out of it- his mom doesn't like to fly, his dad doesn't think Mexico is safe, they don't have the money, they have to help his brother with money for his surgery he doesn't have scheduled, etc.  Basically they don't want to go because it is outside their comfort zone.  I wish they could have sucked it up for their son and even just came for a few days.  Then my fiance talked to his mom about maybe financially helping his brother come and what the options could be, but she said not to since he isn't really concerned about coming.  I guess its hard for me to understand this because my family, who are not as financially well off, would do anything to be there and wouldn't miss it for the world.  Hopefully my family's support and our friend's is enough for my fiance because they all love us very much.  Ahhh sorry for the vent!

    Anyways....

LOVE love LOVE all of your DIY projects!!!  Very impressed and I'm sure your guests will be also with all of your hard work!   I need to get cracking! haha

  8. Thanks for the info..maybe we could just do a backyard bbq type. Who is Marvin that you are using for your flowers??? Can you PM me his information or anything you have on him?!

I also am using Marvin since his prices are half that of the resort's

I had a shower over the summer and I wanted to keep it simple because of the costs of the wedding.  And my mom also didn't want to stress my girl's out so she didn't expect any money from them and instead just wanted them to help set up and clean up.  We had it at my parent's house and my mom made the food to keep costs down so that could be an option instead of having to rent out a space?

  9. I need your girls opinion..my bridal party wants to throw a bridal shower for us..theres only 3 of them..but I don't want them to spend any more $ than they are for the trip. Its a big expense that isn't really needed.  Did you all have showers?? I just feel like if they throw one they won't have the $ for cancun and I would obviously much rather them there!!  Opinions ladies??

  10. Those are GORGEOUS!!!! So creative!!! I didn't even think fo doing wedding programs..another DIY program to add to the list!!

P.S.  I finally was able to use my new Crop-a-dile tool and Circle Cutter for this --- woot, woot!

P.P.S.  I got the idea for this booklet from the book The DIY Bride Crafty Countdown by Khris Cochran... which I got 40% off of course at Joann's!  haha!

P.P.P.S.  I left out a few pages that have the excerpts from our readings & the hand ceremony blessing.  I LOVE the quotes that I put in here, hehe!  OK, this is enough post scripts.  Bed time for me, friends!  Happy planning this week!

IMO the top priority would be to SET your budget, get our your STDs (save the dates), have your website ready (if you plan to do one), and decide whether you will use a TA, do thing on your own, or go direct with MP, having this done will allow you and your guest to plan payments accordingly.
