I've also heard of a stone ceremony, where everyone holds a stone during the ceremony and afterwards, everyone walks to the ocean and casts them in.
I was thinking of doing something like this, but I think we now like the idea of tying a sailor's knot instead!

I sent my STDs 10 months before the wedding.
My super official invites went out about 5 months before the wedding.
However, we kept a mailing list of all of our invitees' e-mail addresses and kept in touch starting 2 weeks after we sent out invites. That allowed us to send booking info and keep in regular contact with updates, reminders, etc.

I think your idea sounds lovely and a great way to incorporate your father into the ceremony even more.

Yeah, I was pretty nervous too, but since I live outside of the US, it was my only option! I made sure to measure myself VERY carefully (and multiple times!) and checked, double checked, and triple checked my measurements against the designer's. My dress came brand new, and without alterations. If I had ordered through a bridal shop, I would have had to wait up to 6 months for the dress to come in! I'm very happy with my purchase. It's definitely an option.

I think you're probably better off just browsing the forum to see what you can find. Good luck!

I second buying "used." I got mine NEW (never worn or altered) at a steal. The bride had bought two and decided to go with her other choice. Try recycledbride.com or preownedweddingdresses.com

I'm definitely going barefoot for the entire ceremony! Sand aisle at the ceremony and reception directly on the beach sand. It's also a relief to not have to worry about comfortable shoes.

Awwww! Great to hear Mimi!
I can't wait to hear your review. Can you also by any chance answer another question? Does Mayte take care of the timing for everything? I was wondering who organizes things like... speeches, cake cutting, first dance, etc. Is that something you plan, the DJ, or Mayte?
Thanks!

Hey Jamie!
Where do you live?? It loves so lovely!

My dress if ivory and my fiance will be wearing an ivory shirt. I think it might look a little off if he was in bright-white.

I know this is an old post, but it's great! It has really helped me figure out how to fill my own pre-travel brochure. Thanks a bunch!

Wow these are amazing! Some of the most professional boudoir photos that I've seen on this forum. Your fiance is going to go nuts.

Yikes! Sorry you had to go through that!! I can't imagine how frustrating that must be. Especially after taking so much time to do that. :/
As a wedding stationery designer, I'm really nervous about using Vistaprint for myself. I've heard horror stories from fellow designers about streaking, poor color, poor paper experiences, etc with VP. I also think they have odd trim sizes. BUT.. the deal is so amazing that I'm going to take a chance with it for some of my OOT bag stuff. Crossing my fingers!!

Great thread! My skin tends to get oily and shiny in warm weather (especially my t-zone) so I'll be watching for recommendations!
Also, does any body know of a good waterproof mascara? All the ones I have ever tried have really lacked in the "va-voom" department..

Wow this is a fantastic idea!! I am definitely going to include something like this in my welcome bags! Thanks!

Have you thought about outsourcing your printing?
Doing printing at home (even on an expensive printer) can be tricky and frustrating to say the least. Plus, after factoring in cardstock and ink cost, etc.. it can come out cheaper to have a professional printing company print them for you.
I'm an invitation designer that currently does all DIY invitations.. meaning my clients print out their final designs. I send them all to Catprint.com and they have raved about how nice their invites turned out. I also used catprint.com for my own wedding invitations and they came out looking absolutely fantastic. They did a great job and had wonderful customer service.
Anyway, it's something to think about!

Thank you for the templates! I have marked this thread and will come back when i have enough posts!

This is perfect. I like that you thanked both of your parents to start. I think it's totally appropriate and will not raise any eyebrows.

How did you get the bags for free? I haven't seen any discounts on these. They're currently $12 each!!

Hey Donna!
I think that being able to zip the dress up all the way will make a HUGE difference. Try to get a friend over to help you with it, and then see how you feel. You can also look for a tailor in your area, though I know it's much harder to do things like that here in Korea.
Don't worry... it will look MUCH better when it's fully done up in the back.

Well I'm still 4 months away from my wedding date, but this is relevant to me now.
I sent out about 60 invitations 2 months ago (mostly to couples or guests +1). However, I've had an e-mail list and have been keeping prospective guests informed about the resort, costs, book-by dates for at least 4 months.
My book-by date with the resort is January 8th. On our invitation info cards, and our e-mails, we've been telling people November 15th.. almost 2 months before the actual date to get people in gear and not waiting until the last second.
Until a few days ago, I had 4 people booked... my parents and his parents. We sent an e-mail 2 days ago reminding people of the "deadline" which is happening in just a couple of days. We told people that this was our super formal RSVP, and even if they had mentioned yay or nay in the past, please super confirm again. We've had some issues with people not responding to our e-mails in the past. Maybe assuming we knew they were coming or just being undecided.
Anyway, I got an e-mail from my travel agent today, and within 48 hours or reminding people of the deadline, we've gotten a ton of responses and 16 more confirmed bookings.
Out of 60 sent invites: 18 confirmed bookings. 4 more people who are "definites." 5 more who have an 80% chance of coming, and a bunch who still have a couple of days to think things over.
I'm expecting about 30 at the wedding. So far, only one guest is bringing a +1.
I think we'll have a much better picture of things in 2 or 3 days when we hit that RSVP date and pseudo book-by date.
I DEFINITELY recommend releasing an earlier RSVP/booking date!!

I agree about Central Park. It's absolutely gorgeous and there are areas on the North end of the park that aren't very crowded. Good luck!
