Have you talked to your coordinator yet? I've been assigned Valeria but have not received a single email from her yet and I even emailed her introducing myself... I leave on Tuesday so I'm hoping she responds soon!

Btw I love the idea of skyping the bridesmaid in that sounds like a great idea! My brother is in the marine corps and they won't allow him to travel to Mexico, they say its "not safe" for the military! So I was hoping to do something similar but wasn't sure how that would work...

Just a heads up, the wifi connection at the resort is NOT that great, you get kicked out often and there are times it won't connect at all. I think it is probably because there are so many people logged on at the same time.  Also, the wifi doesn't seem to connect at certain spots on the resort.  I facetime chatted with my family back home in Philly while we were at the resort and our conversation was very delayed and would freeze up while the wifi was trying to stay connected.  I'm not sure if skype is any better, its definitely worth a shot.

Hopefully you hear from your wedding coordinator before you leave, but if not I'm sure she has everything under control.  They really do an amazing job! Have a great time!

Mca: your pics are gorgeous! I'm leaving in 1 week from today!! Any last minute advice?!

Thank you so much! I'm having such a hard time deciding which ones to print out for our house!  The only advice I can give you is to not stress about the wedding.  I know it is easier said then done but they really do make your day so very special!  My wedding coordinator did an amazing job, I have NO complaints about anything involving our wedding or our coordinator! (I had Lily Sanchez)  Everything will be perfect, just relax and enjoy your day!

    I have a few questions.

    1. Is anyone aware if the resort has WIFI?  Unfortunately one of my bridesmaids is unable to make it, and I am hoping we can skype her in and have a groomsman carry her down the aisle on an ipad.

    2. Are there outlets/power source on/near the beach?  We are bringing a speaker, but aren't sure if we need to have a battery powered one.

    3. Lastly, we were just assigned our wedding coordinator. Zaray Casillas.  I haven't seen this name before.  Has anyone had her?

Thanks for you input!  You ladies have been super helpful.

Speckles- Keep your chin up.  You are a beautiful woman and he was clearly a fool to let you go.  Much better to find out on this side of the wedding.

The resort has free WIFI, it isn't that great but it worked for what we needed it for.  I didnt notice any outlets by the beach.  Hope this helps!

  4. We have been back from Moon Palace for a little over a week now!! Our wedding was AMAZING!!! We had such a great time and all of our guests said it was the best wedding they have ever been to! I will write my review soon.  Here are some of the pics from our photographer.  We used Ocean Photo Studio and I could not be happier with our pictures! They did a great job

I knew going into a destination wedding that not everyone would be able to come because of money, kids, etc.... totally understandable! But I guess there were some people who i just did NOT expect to back out on our wedding day. Found out this past week that my fiances TWO sisters have decided they will not be coming. (Mind you, I asked both of these girls to be IN the wedding last November!! A year ago!!!) The wedding is not until May so they have had plenty of time to plan and save. Ugh... my fiance is not one to show much emotion but i just KNOW its killing him inside and i feel horrible!!! Let alone.. not one person has booked their trip yet... i know we have a good 7 months to go but as of right now I feel like we are going to have zero guests!! I just needed to vent with some girls who have an insight into what I am going through!! sad.gif

I know it's easy for me to say but it will all work out trust me... People wait until the very LAST minute to book.  Our wedding is on Saturday and we just had someone book their room today and we had a groomsmen back out last monday, his room was booked and he still backed out... because they waited until the last minute to book their airfare and now flights out of philadelphia are outrageous.  My fiance is the same way he shows no emotion and acts like it doesn't bother him but I know deep down it does.  I felt the same way you did about people booking, then all of a sudden people started booking about 2 months before the wedding.  We have also had our fair share of family drama, my fiance's sister told us numerous times we were selfish, she can't believe we would ask people to spend that much money for our wedding, how could we get married on foreign soil blah blah blah.  Then she said she was coming, then she wasn't coming, then she was coming again and guess what she is NOT coming now and we haven't talked to her in 4 months.

One thing I have learned is that some people do not care about anyone but themselves and think because your having a destination wedding its no big deal.  Some people who I thought would never spend the money to come to our wedding did and others that I thought would be there for sure have given us some lame excuse as to why they cant be there.

I leave in 2 weeks!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot believe how fast time has flown by!!!!

Anyone have a great contact in regards to booking excursions?  I have a great contact for the spa/salon already.  I think I have a few saved somewhere, but I figured I'd find out someone more recent if possible! :)

We leave tomorrow!!!! I'm so excited.  My wedding coordinator gave me Javier Cortes his email is [email protected], but he is out of the office until november 12, his email said if you need assistance to contact Dai Jimenez at [email protected].  Javier let us reserve the dolphin swim for 15 people.  He has been awesome to work with!

  7. Well my fiancé and I leave for Cancun in one week!! We are super excited!!!! Except there always seems to be a bump in the road with something, we were all set and good to go with enough room nights to get us all of the group benefits (we had 80) until hurricane Sandy hit our area!! We now have at least 2 guests who are not going to be able to attend our wedding due to the damage occurred from the storm, that knocks us down to 73 nights :(.

I emailed asking if we could still receive credit for their nights because it is out of their control as to why they will not be attending and was told NO, I can't believe they won't sympathize with us over 2 freaking nights (I'm not asking for credit for all of their nights, just enough to get us back to 75), we had a natural disaster hit our area pretty badly, it's not like our guests had a choice in the matter and just woke up and decided they didn't feel like going to Cancun next week.  My next question to them is going to ask if we can just pay out of pocket for those two nights ourselves.  It still ends up being cheaper then paying for our reception and welcome dinners out of pocket.  I'm really stressed now because we had all of our events budgeted around the unlimited events.  Is anyone else having to deal with something like this?

    Thank you!

    Hi,

I am getting married on November 10.  I ha NO idea there was any construction going on in the sunrise section until I read it on this forum.  I called and tried to have all of my guests moved out of the Sunrise section this is the exact email I received...

"My name is Abril Reyes from wedding sales department in charge of moon palace.  I have been reached by Ms Elvia Gilharry on regards to your request to change your entire wedding group to our Nizuc section of the resort due to the construction going on Sunrise section.  Unfortunately I don't have room's availability on your traveling dates to fullfill this request.

The construction is currently being held only in the lobby since most of the work on other areas is almost done;  as of today, the "sky bar" is open and fully functional, the kid's lounge "wired" is also open along with our fully remodeled night club "noir."  All of these areas are featured only in Sunrise section.

Please accept my apologies if this caused you an inconvenience, however, our staff will out do their best to make yours and your guest a very pleasant stay."

So I emailed her back and told her I find it hard to believe that the resort is that booked and I will just try to have it taken care of upon my check in.  I think I am just going to wait and see what it is like when I get there before I make a total stink about it. I can't stress out about this construction thing until I see it for myself.

  9. I'm waiting to pay my final PO upon check out, I refused to send them any money and my coordinator was completely find with it.

Hey Guys! I just received  my PO. I have heard horrible things about the Miami office misusing people's credit card numbers. My current co-ordinator  (in Cancun) has asked me to fill out a credit card auth form...did you guys do this or are you waiting to do it once you get there? Thanks for you help!
  10. We will be there the same time!!! Our wedding is November 10 at 4pm! We are staying from the 6th-15th.  We are using smile market/ocean photo studio, I didn't want to deal with the hassle of bringing an outside photographer in.  Our locations were confirmed when we signed our wedding PO, but it does say they are not guarenteed until we arrive in Mexico, I'm not to stressed about it.  Our group is staying in the Sunrise section, I was told by someone who has been to Moon Palace that it is the "louder/partying" section.

We will just miss each other! Our wedding is November 12th! Thanks for the idea of the photographer booking a room :) I'll definately do that. Are you guys having an outdoor reception. I also just noticed on some fine print that they have a $30/pp charge for "setup" in outdoor locations -- when I called Miami when I was deciding which hotel I was told there is no such charge.....eek!

  11. I have Daniela ocampo morales ([email protected]) she has been excellent! She contacted me on August 3 to start working on our November 10 wedding. She has answered all of our questions and replies to emails in a timely manner, she even gets back to me on weekends. The only problems I have had have been with reservations. Our link only worked for about a month so my guests had to book through michelle farinas in Miami, then they did away with that office and NEVER told me, I found out via a guest who emailed her for reservations.. All of our guests then had to book through random people, and all the phone numbers they gave us would be answered in spanish or would be put on hold and forgotten about. the only advice I can give any new brides is to definitely go through a travel agent, it will reduce a ton of stress, and eliminate the tons of calls, emails and confusion from your guests. I have had to call palace resorts so much that some of the wedding planners know me now. The next 7 weeks aren't going to go by fast enough, I can't wait for our planning to be over!

Wow! I have Renee also but have yet to hear anything from her. I plan on asking for a new coordinator . . . not sure who yet. Any suggestions??
  12. Who is Marvin? Do you have contact info? I was just looking into getting outside flowers due to high cost at resort. Thank you!
Im using Marvin at maya floral also, his prices are half of what the resort charges and he has been extremely helpful, even after I changed my mind 2 1/2 months before our wedding. He will do bouquets, boutinerres, centerpieces etc... All I did was tell him my wedding colors and sent a few examples of what I wanted and he sends back pictures of what he creates. His contact info is [email protected]. When you email him make sure you put "WEDDING floral services" in your subject title. I know some brides on here have had issues with him getting back to them, I have not had any problems at all with him responding to emails, in fact he has been very prompt and has even emailed me as late as 9:30-10:00. All he asked upon order confirmation was for a $100 deposit that you pay via PayPal and you pay the rest once he delivers your flowers. You wont be charged a vendor fee because he will deliver the flowers to the resort lobby and you can have someone meet him there to pick them up. Hope this helps, let me know if you need anything else.
  13. It's not only that my guests haven't been able to book, it's that I told all of my guests in our invitations that they had to book via the link so when they go to book and it doesn't let them they then call me and want to know why they cannot book. It doesn't make the resort look very good when people can't even reserve rooms for my wedding. Then when guests email Michelle she doesn't get back to them and they call me wanting to know why she ignores their emails. The other day I sent an email out to all of my guests with Michelle's contact info and telling everyone that our link is down so hopefully that eliminates the frustration of my guests. I just feel bad for them.

Hey. When I started my booking process in January, Geraldine told me the links they used to do didnt work, so i was forced to have the guests fax a sheet with their information, or fax a sheet that asked for her to call in order to collect the information. It has been a pain but everyone has been able to book. So perhaps you can ask them to have this as an option? Hope this helps.
  14. Have any of you ladies had an trouble with your guests booking their hotel stay? We did not go through a travel agent so we had to email all of our guests our booking link, and twice now people have called saying the site is not working. Most recently being today, when my cousin called me bc she has been trying to book her room for over a week... She finally called the 800 number provided on the website and they told her my link was deactivated. The rooms I blocked off are blocked until sept 7, so there is plenty of time left for our guests to book. I emailed Michelle farinas in the Miami office stressing to her how frustrated this is for me and my guests and how it is deterring our guests from wanting to stay at moon palace and she is not the least bit concerned. Their customer service is terrible, it is definitely hard enough planning a destination wedding let alone having to deal with all of your guests calling bc they cannot book their rooms. Also the link on the website to book hotel transfers does not work, so now I have to email every guest their email address so they can get to and from the resort. Just wanted to give all those who did not book through a travel agent that their link maybe disfunctioning!

  15. If I were you I would just check with your wedding coordinator about the cost. When I had Beatriz she told me the fee was for them to set it up, so I said I would just have one of my guests set it up for me before our ceremony started and she told me that was not allowed. So we just decided against it. Just an FYI... She also told me it was $250 to setup any decorations at the reception. I'm not having anything fancy just a centerpiece and I was like I'm not paying $250 for them to put a bowl of flowers on the table. I'm just going to ask my FI sister to take care if that for us. She said the only thing they didn't charge for was putting the place cards out. I also have a new wedding coordinator So maybe she will tell me something completely different!

I am planning on doing the sand ceremony. I am making my own picture frame holder and just going to use sand from the beach for one and coloured sand for the other. I am going to empty it out and have extra sand so we can make it at home again so it wont be a giant mess (bring back the extra sand in ziplock bags). But I didn't know there was a fee. Too bad Moon Palace, I don't need them to read anything for me, I just need space on the table (ridiculous for them to charge for something like that, I can get my MOH to read the ceremony literature which you can find online).
  16. I was told we had to bring our own and there was a $150 set up fee. I don't know if anyone else was charged that but it def detered us from bringing the stuff for a sand ceremony or a unity candle.

Hi Ladies, Did anyone do/is planning on doing a sand ceremony? We're trying to decide if we want to do one.  I've heard it is a pain flying back with it because the sand shifts? Do you know if the MP offers anything for the sand ceremony or do we have to bring everything with us? We are doing a symbolic ceremony. Thanks!
  17. I have finally heard from who I was told by Michelle Farinas was my wedding planner giselle only after sending her a very demanding email and pointing out to her that she has ignored my past emails. She responded by saying she was forwarding my email to my wedding planner Juana moreira does anyone have her? If so how is she? How many wedding planners am I going to have? It seems the more people that we have Planning our wedding the more confusing it will become.

  19. These are the group amentities I was told:

5-9 rooms for 3 nights or 15 room nights= one hour private function

10-19 rooms for 3 nights or 30 room nights = 2 complimentary nights based on original room category up to concierge level + one hour private function

20-24 rooms for 3 nights or 60 room nights = 4 complimentary nights + 1 two hour private function

25 rooms or 75 room nights= 7 complimentary nights + unlimited private functions (one hour cocktail + two hour dinner MAX three hours per day) + one room upgrade for the bride and groom to the next available category up to concierge level.

We basically told our wedding coordinator how many rooms we wanted blocked off and for which dates, booked our room and she emailed me a secure link that we had to send to our guests in order for them to book under our group contract and for them to get the group rates.  We signed our group contract in Feb for a Nov wedding.  Hope this helps a little

I am getting married at MP on sunday 11/11/12 so I'll be there for your wedding!!!

To be honest, reserving my locations was the first thing I did because they seem to go quick. It was a challenge since its really hard to get a hold of anyone or to get my wedding coordinator from miami to answer emails. My fiance would call the palace resorts hotline and demand to speak to someone especially supervisors to get answers and locations. it took us about a month of frustration but we finally got everything settled with locations in a contract and signed it. I recommend you get on top of it ASAP and once its done you can relax. Since I finalized the locations I am not stressing at all and we have 6 months to go, the last thing you want to do is keep waiting and thinking about it so i say fight for it now and get it over with. We also finalized our additional decor with Katie through Zuniga and we choose the lavender luxe collection for the reception, the complimentary package with a few add ons for the ceremony (we are also doing the horse and carrage). Let me know if you have any questions.

I forgot to ask you... have you sent your out your invitations yet? We sent ours out the first week of March because we wanted to give our guests 6 months to book (I made Sept 8 our RSVP deadline since MP said they would only hold the group block until then).  As of now we have 7 people (not including FI and myself) definitely booked for 22 nights, and 10 others that have RSVP'd yes but have not booked, some who have purchased airfare but know they have til Sept to book the room so they are waiting-for what reason I have no clue?? And that number doesnt include 2 people that are supposed to be in the wedding but have done nothing so far! So I guess as of now we get 2 complimentary nights and a one hour private function! Im really hoping to reach the 75 nights!

  21. OMG that is soo exciting!! Your more than welcome to stop by and be our wedding crashers haha...

How did you manage to get ahold of someone to book your locations?? Which locations are you using?? Who is your wedding coordinator? I want to book the tucan beach for our ceremony, tucan gardens for cocktail hour and tucan terrace for our reception.  My miami wedding coordinator was great about responding to emails up until recently.  We decided to switch from a legal ceremony to a symbolic so I emailed her about it last week and she has yet to respond, I ended up calling the 877 number at the end of her emails and spoke to someone in the wedding sales office who took care of it for me, and said the $300 deposit we put down for the civil ceremony will be credited to our room.  I feel like they see your wedding number in emails and just ignore it because they are sick of dealing with us LOL.  Im going to try and call the same number tomorrow and demand to speak with someone especially now that I know your wedding is the day after mine and your booked already! We decided just to stick with the complimentary package and add the horse and carriage, Im totally fine with having the plain setup for our ceremony.  I have been able to finalize our photography with ocean studio/smilemarket, my flowers/centerpieces with marvin at maya floral, and the ipod hook up with PSAV.  Can you think of anything else I need to do? We are in the process of working on our OOT bags, figuring out music, and buying bridesmaid/groomsmen gifts.  Thank you so much for your help, maybe we could meet up while we are in Cancun together! We arrive on November 6 and leave November 15!
