It's just a bit frustrating not really understanding how things will play out financially until the my wedding day actually arrives.

Yes I completely agree.  I think they don't want to be held responsible in writing over e-mail but are much more lenient in person once you arrive and have your meeting.

Interesting, I have never heard her use the word "credits" in any of our correspondences when discussing the option of swapping out items.  Does anyone else have experience with credits or the value of items ot used that could be applied to something else?

It is not considered credits....everything has a price tag and if you don't use it they MAY credit you back the money or apply it to something else added.  I hope this clarifies things a little.

We are booked for Castaways for our reception and we are paying for the extra hour. Has anyone else done this and will they kick us out of the restaurant right at 11:00?

I requested an extra hour but didn't end up paying for it.  I would def try to talk her into giving you an extra hour.  3 hours is no where near enough time! 4 hours was even pushing it! They do try to clear you out quickly! we all just went right to the beach bar after.

If it is open just tell them that you want it earlier.  It should not be a problem.  I had mine at the Pergola at 4pm.

    Thank you!

I brought my own photographer and he stayed on the resort so there was no extra charge.

I do want to have maracas and thought about tying a name tag on each with the entree selection but I also want to have the cute saying about "shaking the maraca" and it's too much to have 2 tags on the maraca. Would it be too much to have names & entree on one side and the saying about shaking the maraca on the other side?

I like this idea! I think it will work just fine! You will have to have table numbers on each table though.  Instead of using a number we put a picture frame and a location my husband and I had traveled to together. We had a message in a bottle with each persons name and had a tag hanging off with the table location name....just an idea.

I did an rsvp card with 3 entrees to choose from and I also asked guests to list any allergies (some people are also vegetarian and gluten free which they have separate menus to choose from).  I had 45 guests at our wedding and almost everyone sent back an rsvp card even those who were not attending (but we did provide them with an envelope and return stamp).  I also had a website which no one rsvp to.

Work with Wendy! I just got married in Mexico and Wendy was my travel agent.  She did an amazing job! Nothing but positive feedback from all of our guests! She is extremely helpful and is always looking out for your best interest!

Has anyone looked into something like that or had them at your wedding. Or any other form of entertainment then a dance.

They do have a fire dance show on the resort once a week.  You can also hire them for your wedding.  I did not have them but I know of one other bride that did.  I believe it was between $800-$1000. Sounds cool!

I am trying to book my dates (most likely at the Now Jade) for June 2013, but since I know it's a busy time, I'm considering a weekday wedding instead of a weekend.  That is in the hopes that there aren't as many weddings going on at the same time and that service itself isn't slower.  Has anyone else had a weekday wedding?  And if so, can you please tell me your experience?

    Thanks!

I had mine on Friday and it turned out great! When you are away every day feels like a weekend! I would suggest getting married either on a thursday or friday for the people who don't want to take many work days.  We had ours on Friday so it worked out perfect.  Some people made a long weekend out of it but didn't need to take the whole week off. Seeing as it is a destination wedding people are going to have to take extra days off regardless so its not like a wedding back at home.  Just a heads up....June is definately a high season for weddings but just remember there is a lot of rain in June! It rained on my wedding day but everything still turned out beautiful! Good luck!

I was on my site visit for your wedding and caught a glimpse of the setup. I thought it turned out beautiful, even in the rain :-) You didn't assign everyone an actual seat, just table, right? Did they pick up their bottles and take them to their seat at the assigned table? Thanks!

Thanks! Correct, I just assigned each person or couple to a table. Yes, they took their bottles to their tables.  Only a few were left behind.

I want to be able to provide my guests with the option to choose their entrée†s but I donâ€t want to coordinate assigned seating. My guest count is +/- 25 and I plan on having a long table set-up. What is the best approach for this scenario without accruing added cost from the resort? Do I just provide Pilar with quantities per entrée selection and create placecards with the guests name and entrée selection and direct them to choose a seat and place it on their plates? Is this acceptable? I'm open to suggestions.

If there is no specific seating arrangement for the guests the servers will not know who gets what meal. For our seating I made messages in bottles with each of our guests name with the table number they will be sitting at as place cards.  But if you are only having one big table I am not sure how that works.

We decided to use her because we didn't want to deal with collecting money, or making sure everyone had their rooms and shuttles booked, etc. Originally we were just going to book through the resort's travel agent, but we wanted to get the best deal for our guests - and when I price compared with the resort TA, Wendy, and 5 other Travel Agents, we found that Wendy offered the best price (AND seemed the nicest and most on-the-ball!).

ALL of our guests that used her had nothing but great things to say! She took care of everything for them, made sure they had all of the information they needed, and that they got where they needed to be on time.

A few of our guests didn't use our TA... they were able to get a slightly better deal through Travelocity, because they could book their flight and their room as a package, and it got them a better deal. However, they only saved about $100-$200/group of 3, and in the end it was more of a hassle for them, because they ALSO had to set up their own shuttles to and from the airport, and they didn't get put in the same block of rooms as the other guests.

Halfway through the booking period, when some of our guests had already booked, Wendy was able to negotiate an even BETTER deal with the resort, and she saved everyone over $100/couple. The guests who had already booked were refunded their savings. It was a great thing to be able to tell everyone in the midst of planning "Hey - our wedding just got cheaper!"

Not only was Wendy fantastic, but the vendor she uses for the shuttles was also great. They picked us up at the airport with a heart-shaped sign, got us in a shuttle, and on the way to the resort gave us a ton of really helpful information about tourist attractions. We even arranged with them to drive our group to Tulum the next day - and they showed up with coolers full of ice and beverages in the air conditioned vans.

I would say DEFINITELY go with a Travel Agent. It will cut down on the amount of questions you have to deal with, you can just send them straight to your travel agent, and it will ensure that everyone gets their reservations correct. It was definitely a nice thing to NOT have to worry about that portion of the trip/wedding.

    Yay, Wendy!!!

I totally agree! I recently got married in Riviera Maya as well.  I used Wendy as our group travel agent and she did a FANTASTIC job! She was on top of things from beginning till the end! She was so sweet and easy to talk to.  She answers your e-mails and phone calls right away and always has an answer for all of your questions! Our guests had nothing but nice things to say about her! She made things so much easier for us to focus on the wedding instead of having to help our guests with all of their questions and bookings!

It is completely beneficial to you to book with Wright travel.  You don't have to pay extra for their services and sometimes you even get money back with a group booking (in our case it paid for our whole wedding package)!

Focus on your wedding and leave your travel bookings to the professionals! Good luck!

Thanks again Wendy for all your hard work!

Which airline did you take? I am now just reading borrow reviews about how the checked luggage got lost or stolen. I am taking Aeromexico and my wedding is in 2 weeks!! I am freaking out! I am probably going to shell out extra cash to fedex it there in a couple of days!!

I took united airlines and did not have any problems what so ever.  The most important breakable things I just took on the plane with me.  We seriously had over 10 suitcases between all of us and not a single thing happened. I was freaking out at the time too but honestly there is nothing to worry about. If there are certain things that you can't go without just bring it on the plane with you.  good luck!

I've stayed from Playa del Carmen and Puerto Morelos down to Tulum and most were rocky beaches (with the exception of Maroma Beach....if you an afford Secrets Maroma...book it!)   Cancun beaches are more wide, flat and hardly any rocks if any at all.  If thats something extremely important then Now Jade may not be your place.  Keep in mind, the majority of your time will probably be spent in and around the pool areas.  If your family and friends are "pool people" then this is an excellent resort.

Secrets Maroma and Barcelo both have really nice beaches! We love the beach too but just like Kerri said....we didn't spend any time on the beach! Everyone hung out at the pool!

As I plan reception decor in my mind I am thinking it's going to be a lot to pack...so has anyone had experience shipping items down there? I am thinking that is the way to go but wanted to know if anyone had done this and did it go smoothly?

I recently got married at the Now Jade and brought 8 suitcases filled with wedding stuff! I looked into shipping things but it was way too expensive so I just had some of my family members pack light and take some of our suitcases with them!  It all worked out perfect! I even brought a whole bunch of vases on a carry on with me!
