  1. Beautiful!  What are the hanging things behind your huppah? So simple and elegant! And where did you get them from if you dont mind me asking?  Was going to make some floayitng orchids on string but was scared of the wind.  Did you have an issue with yours?
Thanks- they were actual beaded strings my friend bought them from a party store and we just gave to wedding planner and they hung them up. They were blowing with the wind but nicely- I felt like it was just a nice touch because I kept everything very simple

I believe the price was like 800 dollars which I thought was to expensive.

So I have a family friend who is a seamstress and she was able to make it for me, in addition to my civil ceremony dress, bridesmaid dresses and flower girl dress.

  3. Hey ladies I got married July 28th everything was amazing! Anel was my photographer-I am still waiting for my official slide show but I figure I would share the one with all the pictures taken. http://colindreswed.dreamsriveriacancun.adventurephotos.com.mx/ We did a welcome cocktail hour the night before the wedding in lieu of a formal rehearsal dinner and we also did the TTD. I will do a formal review but if you have questions please let me know.

any opinions especially from people who have maybe seen any of these options or had them would SOOOOOOOOOO be appreciated!!

    Hey Emily,

We had the dance floor on the deck and I felt like it worked out perfect, the beach is very dark so Im sure you would need extra lighting if you get it on the beach. I think it also depends on the amount of guest your having because that will determine how many tables you will have and how much room it will take up on the deck- we had 6 tables.

Also there are crabs that come out at night we did not see many just a few but they were right off the deck.

    Hey Ladies,

I leave in 5 days and I am just wondering how did everyone pay for their wedding? Should we get travelers checks? Did you just charge it?

Also my wedding coordinator has not answered my emails in weeks so I am really going down there without knowing much details about the big day! its so frustrating!

I hope your super excited and do not worry- i was the same way before I left! You will sit down with your planner and go through every detail- my suggestion would be just to have everything you want written down along with your questions to make sure you remember everything. Also, if you have pictures of what you want bring copys- I did this for decorations and hair/makeup.

As for paying we opted to charge it- just be aware you may have a foreign transaction fee, also we notified the credit card company prior to going on vacation just to make sure we would have no issues.  I had previously read another bride had used travelers checks and that worked out just fine.

One last recommendation bring cash if you plan to tip, and figure out ahead of time who you will be tipping and how much- its one less thing to worry about the day of.

I think it will be OK though, everyone will probably go hang out at another bar or go to their room to freshen up while we have photos taken any way.

The Sports bar is like a 3 minute walk from the beach, essentially it is by the lobby.

I am doing the cocktail hour on the beach

  8. Hi all!!! Today was our first day here.  Customs was a BREEZE!!!  We had 12 bags total, counting out clothes and wedding things, between my parents, brother, his gf, my fiance and I.  The only one who got stopped was my brother's gf.  She showed them her clothes, that's it.  She got the red light that's why.  They asked why we had so much stuff.  We told them for our wedding, offered to show invoices, they said it was okay and we were DONE!!! Dreams has been awesome so far.  They upgraded our room from the honeymoon suite to the master suite without us even asking.  We are so close to the North Beach where we'll get married on Friday and today we watched a wedding there from our balcony.  Tomorrow morning we meet with Lorena! It has only been 1 day and we've NEVER been happier we chose DREAMS!!!!
Yay! I'm so happy everything went smoothly for you! I know everything will be great look forward to hearing all about it!! Will be following you soon can't wait leaving in 9 days!!

You need all the receipts except clothing.

Only 300.00 per person or they will tax you to bring that into their country.

We are planning to give some to mother of the bride, mother of the groom , dads, maids of honour, but remember you need to give them the receipts .

Can you clarify what this mean? Do you mean for any decorations/ we are carrying?

Have you already traveled and was this a issue?

  10. Lorena has not gotten in touch with me AT ALL!!  What is your email?  I will send you what I have been using.  :)  I will also send you my resort survey.  I have been communicating with the wedding manager Evangelina instead of Lorena since she fails to reply to my emails!
Same here I have sent her a few emails and nothing! My email is [email protected] Thanks In advance for the information! I really can't believe how close we are soo exciting!!

I am right behind you!! Im getting nervous I have not talk to Lorena and I feel like I'm forgetting to do stuff?

Do you have any kind of check list agenda that you are using to stay organize you could share with me?

I thought there was a sheet the resort had you fill about regarding all the decisions but I could not find it?

Same here we are so close I cant wait!!

Quick question you had mention something about carrying your invoice or receipt for your flowers to show at customs is this something that is recommended?

I had remember seeing someone else post something about bringing there receipt for all the decor they were bring but I cant find the post now.

I dont think I have kept all of mine and hope this will not be a issue.

  13. So we leave for Mexico in 34 days and I am starting to figure out how to pack.  I am nervous. Besides our clothes we need to bring down... -My bouquet, 3 bridesmaid bouquets, and corsages/boutonnieres  -Sand and sand ceremony kit -Wine stopper favors -Beach towels for OOT bags -20 Embroidered OOT bags -Sunglasses for OOT bags -All of the other contents of the OOT bags -Welcome letter, itinerary, guest book mad libs cards, and programs -Cake Topper * "I Do" letters -Starfish place cards -Menus -Gown, jewelry, shoes, etc. -Kevin's wedding day attire I think that's it but it's very overwhelming!  We are also flying US Air direct but we will have to pay for our bags, I believe, so that sucks.  I am hoping I can do it by Kevin, myself, my mom, and my dad all taking an extra bag.  I will check the boxes that the favors and beach towels are in.  They will count as bags...then I will try to get the rest of the things in two bigger suitcases. My main concern are my flowers.  Does any one have any suggestions on how to bring down silk/real touch bouquets?  I don't want to check them in a suitcase for fear they will get tossed around and ruined, but I will if I have to.  I thought about putting them all in a carry on bag.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  I can't believe how soon my wedding is!
Omg I'm so excited for you I can't believe it's so soon- to bad we are going to miss each other! I'm carrying a ton also- we are flying with Frontier and your allowed one free checked bag each additional is 20 dollars. I think you should just carry on your bouquets because its not worth taking the risk of checking them!

We arrive on Thursday July 26 and will get married on Saturday. You will still be there right? we should catch up and you can give me any last minute suggestions :)

Does anyone know how much a day pass is for anyone who is not staying at the resort and just want to come hang out for a day- (not the day off the wedding?)

Yamina quoted 55 dollars for a wedding pass.

That's awesome -yeah I loved it there that's why when we picked a Destination wedding DRC was really the only option.

While on vacation there I would watch like 2 weddings a day and I never thought it would be me :)

They were always so beautiful that's why I have managed to not overly stress through this whole process!

Our weddings will be great and now were so close- Im super excited!!!

Hey guys!! Haven't commented here in a while although we come constantly to read all of the great reviews and to see some of the amazing slideshows.  Congrats to all the already married couples and to the ones like us that are only a couple of weeks away.  Feels like yesterday we were not sure of our destination for the wedding and here we are leaving on the 27th of June.  So EXCITING!  We just have one question for all of those who have already been at Dreams Riviera.  How does the resort manage the all inclusive benefits?  Do all of the guests wear wrist bands that must be worn at all times? We don't know how we feel about having that in our pictures.  Also how do they know that any random person isn't joining the reception if we have it on the pool deck.  Just some questions that make us curious and were wondering if anyone knows the answer.  Basically how does the resort manage the all inclusive part of it all since i saw in website that they dont require wristbands.  We're a bit confused.  Thanks and happy planning to all!!!

I actually got engaged at DRC last May the resort is enclosed there are no wristbands when you go to the restaurants they ask for your name and room #.

I think for the most part random people would stick out if they just tried to join your reception especially since the pool deck turns into a private section for weddings.

Can you tell me the difference of the rooms- Was the presidential suite on the main level and are you able to walk out directly to the beach and did it have a plunge pool?
