Please go back and read the horrific posts on the resorts photographer. THey are horrible. SImply put- horrible and you WILL regret it. @ANAS- I am soooooo excited for you ! It looks like you are our next OCT bride on this forum!!!!! It will be here before you know it. My work bridal shower was yesterday and tomorrow is my family and friends bridal shower and it is really starting to hit me!

@ JBandDJ- Congrats!!!!! You are an official OCT bride!!!!! How was it!??? Tell us everything! Did you the makeup and hair with the Spa? So many questions!!!! Thanks for the advice on the extra hours ! My fiance and I have been going back and forth on whether or not we should do an extra hour of reception. I think my fiance and I might opt for one extra hour just because we are doing a cocktail hour before our reception.

@Archily- The resort has two sides. The Ocean Coral and the Ocean Turquesa side. Ocean Maya Royal Resort is their sister resort; an entirely different resort (the adults only resort) is located about 10-15 minutes away by shuttle. We are staying there for our honeymoon. :-) I would recommend the Ocean Coral side if you are looking to stay away from children. The Ocean Coral side is quieter. It has the quieter pools and is void of children. The Ocean Turquesa side has the Teen and Daisy club and kiddie pool is located there. I hope this helps. :-)

@andecker23- We are doing OOT bags and because of the $4 charge I chose to give them out when the guests arrive at the hotel. The hotel is small enough and if your party is small enough you can personally greet them when they arrive at the lobby. We are also having a welcome cocktail party and plan on giving it out then if I don't catch them at the lobby. You can mail things to Ana before hand. Ask her for the exact address to mail to and she will give you it. I am doing this with my favors. :-) @Andrea28- I don't think it is refundable. :-( but I bet you can negotiate depending on how long ago it was placed.

Can anyone give me a review on the DJ that Ana provides for the wedding reception? The contact name she gave me is DJ Nico Cano. I am a little worried about this aspect of the wedding. Anyone who had this DJ at their wedding reception? If you can give you me a review that would help settle my nerves.

AwayWeGo- Our weddings sound very similar! My fiancé and I are having beach ceremony, lobby reception, about 50-55 guests booked so far, DJ thru resort, and Juan as our photographer! We are looking forward to hearing about your experience! I am thinking as a back up of booking Litzy for my hair and makeup so that my Maid of Honor can relax on the day of so I am hoping you can give us a good review with that. Cannot wait for this to be me in less than 4 months!!!! Good luck and we will all be thinking of you on your day!!!!

@modizzle- Hi! Like you I have nightmares about the passerby's walking by during my beach ceremony. Ana said this happens less near the Privilege section. Our ceremony is set for 5:30 with cocktail hour immediatly following on the beach too from 6-7pm. My fiance and I would of loved to of had a beach reception but we cannot because our wedding is in July. After 7 pm between the months of May- November, they do not hold any ceremonies or receptions on the beach. I have seen pics of the set up on H10's website and they look beautiful. When I was at the resort, Ana showed us pics of a huge party they did with tables and chairs set up near the quiet pool and it was really nice but she explained they only do this for huge parties. Anyway, I hope that helps.

We are so excited and love the effects he does with his pictures! @clair20 & JCCP62212- Hi and welcome to the forum! Did you email Ana Bautista (she is the WC at the resort) She takes awhile to get a hold of but she does return all of her emails. PM me for her email. I am not sure if we can post that on here. Picking a package would probably be the first thing I would start thinking about. Decide on the ceremony and reception location and book your photographer quick as they book up quickly! Do not even think about the outside vendor fee and day pass as being an issue. . . .BELIEVE ME, and everyone else on here when they tell you that their photographers are amateur at best. My fiancé and I were not impressed at all. The outside vendor fee and day pass are worth every penny for your cherished memories. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. Lots of the brides on here helped me with getting package/menu/decoration info etc. BTW OCT BRIDES, my fiancé and I just booked out videographer and decided to go with PlayaWeddngs Videographer Paul Schrank.. .his videos are amazing. TropicLover-Gorgeous girl!!! Loving the side bun,,,, I haven't had my hair trial yet so perhaps I will try that one too! I remember the Super 8 vintage film reels! Lots of videographers are offering this option at a hefty cost so consider yourselves lucky!!!!

@LeahBecker- I plan on wearing my hair down in soft curls but with the wind, I am a bit worried. I haven't heard anything about the resort salon. Sorry. Are any of you guys going with a videographer??? My fiancé and I feel like we might of overlooked not booking one. Everyone keeps telling us what a big mistake it is not to get it on video. My photographer recommended Mike Canterell. If anyone is going with a videographer, please let me know who you're going with and if you know anything about Mike Canterell. Thanks!

@TropicLover- Right now, the maracas are the only thing I am having done in Mexico. I plan on only bringing my fans (oriental trading), and my menu cards. I am going back and forth with the OOT bags. They seem like such a hassle and after pricing things out, it can get very expensive (we have 50 guests coming). I was thinking of doing something like a small gift and hand written letter thanking them for coming out. I don't know.

I am ordering maracas from Mishka Designs (I heart her!) and they will have a tag with my guests name and table name. They serve as our table seating cards as well as fun favors/souvenirs for our guests. They will also have a little note underneath the table card that says "Don't even think of tapping a glass, let's do this with some Mexican class. Stand up and shake with all of your might, to see the groom kiss his bride tonight!" I saw this early on in my wedding planning and fell in love with the idea. Attached is a pic of the design we chose but it will be yellow maracas with pink and white design They will be laid out in sand filled trays. Mishka is based out of Puerto Vallarta and is sending the maracas to the resort attn to Ana so I don't have to bring these with me on plane. JBDandJ- I would not do assigned seating chart if I were using the long tables but if you are using the round tables, I recommend it only because I feel like your guests will expect to look for a seating plan and then you don't want them scrambling to find seats and arranging it by themselves. I feel like it creates less confusion by telling them. For a party of 35, you can go either way. Hope that helps. You must be soooo excited with everything being soooo close! Sandy

Thanks Tropic Lover! I thought 8 but wasn't sure. Do you think if we really wanted to squeeze 9 at a table that would be pushing it? Running into some table seating issues and currently I have two tables with 9 people at them. So frustrating. I don't know about the dimensions for the long table but from looking at past pictures I think they seat 8 on each side so that would be 16 for for the whole table.

We are skipping on upgrading the wine, we'll just tell our guests to steer clear of it. I don't think they will opt for wine when in Mexico though.

@Tropic Lover My fiance and I had the house wine at the mexican restaurant I remember and it was not good. We skipped wine at the resort altogether and ordered mixed drinks (the mojitos were exceptional). I would upgrade the wine if that is what you think your wedding guests will opt for. Could you PM me the Audio Visual price list?
