I sympathize with anyone trying to plan a destination wedding, and if you are considering the Playa del Carmen area, pat yourself on the back for having a great idea. Yes, indeed, you are brilliant! I am posting here because I wish I had access to a resource like this when I was trying to find a planner a few years ago for my wedding. The beginning stages were rough because I didn't feel informed about how to choose a coordinator local to Playa. I even took my bridal party to a wedding conference, and connected with a couple different planners, one of whom I lost a good deal of money on because I hired her without the benefit of hearing other brides review her work. I'm sure all you brides out there know how crucial it is to pick the right person, as there is no such thing as flying down to Mexico to 'see how things are going' with your wedding or 'staying on top' of the progress. It just takes a certain amount of blind faith... So all that being said, I want to recommend someone to you, as a bride that wishes a similar anonymous person on the internet (or friend!) had made the recommendation to me before I spiraled down the wedding vortex of panic - it would have saved me a lot anguish. When I found Leanne Rogers of Leanne Marie Weddings, I felt enormous relief. She is a bilingual (Spanish & English) American planner based in Playa, and she is the perfect choice for brides who want to stay at an all inclusive but don't trust the hotel wedding planner, as well as those that want a very bride-tailored wedding 'in town' in Playa. Whatever your vision is for your wedding, she will help you make it happen, and I think when you talk to her it's obvious that she genuinely cares about making your day special. Guess what, she answers all her emails in a timely and professional manner, even if you are being crazy. Ha! And guess what else, she doesn't even hint that you're being crazy even when you are. Double HA!
