  1. Thansk for the info!! We are doing the sound stange but don't need the dance floor. I'll just have to see what I can negoiate. I agree 100% i don't want to be messing with an Ipod. I want to enjoy our night... and my dress!!!! haha

The sound-system and dance-floor were only going to be about $50 cheaper so we opted to use the DJ for the extra little bit. Either way would have been fine as we could have just let the ipod play through, but having someone else not involved in the wedding to control the music was a nice option. The only annoying thing was that sometimes the DJ would play his songs and some that kinda sucked, but then we just asked him to change it if we didn't like his song choice. I'd do it again for the $50 extra, but wouldn't pay hundreds. It was only a small amount more because of the packaged option...if you left out anyone of the 3 items (say just DJ and sound-system), the DJ cost was WAY more.

  2. We are going back and forth on the same thing now too. I know you can ship to Mexico a friend of mine plans corp events in Cabo all the time and does it. BUT I'm freaked out still there are too many what if's. Plus considering it is $20-50 for an extra bag on the plane might just be cheaper to take it on the plane with you depending on how much the shipping is...

I knew it wouldn't be cheap to ship but I figured it would be easier than lugging it all to and thru the airport. After asking around on a few threads, I'm really nervous about shipping. FI and I are now thinking we'd rather go thru the hassle of lugging it around then it not making it, arriving broken, and/or costing an arm and a leg.

  3. Yeah that's pretty crazy and concerning!! If I hadn't already booked I would be looking into diffrent resorts. Saying a prayer and crossing my fingers it works out okay. Does anyone have the email address for the wedding coordinator taking over? If you could post or message it to me that would be wonderful!

I know part of it is that Dreams PV holds way too many weddings for what they are able to handle and that's why there are so many issues. To accomodate the 250-300 weddings per year that they (Dreams PV) want to hold they need to have a minimum of 3-4 at minimum coordinators, not 1 or 2.

It's definitely more expensive to do a legal ceremony in Mexico, but I would find out if that's the blood test, paperwork and everything (which is usually about $400 or $500 I think).. or if that's just a "Dreams Fee".  We'll be getting married here in Chicago maybe a week before our DW on the hush.  Hoping to do the least amount of real vows so we can save it for Mexico!

Yes.. That quote does include all the blood work etc.. I think we may do the same thing. Legal paperwork here in AZ before we go. I was looking online and it looks like it will cost $100 total. Plus I have two friends who were married in Mexico in the past 3 years. They are having one heck of a time getting their passports corrected to their married names because their weddings were in Mexico.. I like the idea of saving $300 that could cover the cost of the bonfire I have been wanting. lol Thanks Sarah for the info!

Hi Sara and NM!  I think that is a great idea to skip the cocktail hour.  I'm just curious.  Are you doing everything a la carte and not getting one of the wedding packages?  Since the ultimate comes with a dinner I am finding it hard to swallow that I have to pay between 45-60 per person to have a buffet.

We are doing the ultimate package and seated dinner. The buffet is just way to much!! We are expecing about 50 plus people but having them remove the cocktail hour. I have been doing a little research and most likley going to use the puerto vallarta adventures photographers. They do good work from what I can tell. I really want to do the bonfire though... It's hard for me to pay $400 for some smores. LOL I can get them from the store for $30! Are you ladies doing the bonfire?

  7. Yep dress has been ordered. So far we have 9 guests but my FI family hasn't started booking yet. They are the larger side of our group! Invites just went out last week. Going on a trip with my bridesmaids at the end of the month to get their dresses and hoping to find a great deal on some OOT Bag stuff! Yours??

We're having about 50 guests and Esman said it's fine that we don't have 60.  And he directed me to the "wedding extras" web page as well and we picked International Buffet II for $45 a person.

We are not doing a cocktail hour... $30 per person when everyone is already all-inclusive is crazy to me.  We're doing a champagne toast after the ceremony ($3 per person I think) and then guests can either walk to one of the Dreams bars for cocktails or wait until dinner starts!

    Curios what others have done...?

Hi Sara.. That's exactly what my FI and I are thinking. I'm not paying for a cocktail hour when people can walk and extra couple feet and get it for free! I'm kinda nervous that people will be standing around while we take pics but oh well. The extra per person for our group would just be too much. Let me know how yours goes with no cocktail hour!
