As the photographer mentioned, our ceremony was at 4, it maybe took about 30 minutes or so for our ceremony. Dinner was at 6:30, by 6:30 it was dark.  We got married at the gazebo, and it was HOT!!!! We were all sweating, we had more than enough time to take pictures, the sun began to set around 5:15 or something like that.  The sun takes about a full hour to set, so if you take pictures anytime between 5 and 6 you will get awesome photos!!!!

If I had the choice to do it again, I would have picked a letter time to better preserve my make up, because in some of my pics you can see a sweat streak running down my cheek, LOL.

LADIES I CAN NOT REPEAT THIS ENOUGH - RELAX......TIME, LOCATION, DOES NOT MATTER!!!! EVERYTHING TURNS OUT PERFECT.  DO NOT STRESS THE SMALL THINGS. YOUR GUEST WILL BE WOWED BY THE BEAUTIFUL SETTINGS NO MATTER IF YOU GET MARRIED AT THE GAZEBO, PIER, BEACH OR IN THE POOL!!!!!

I can't agree with you more, Dreams La Romana is a beautiful resort, your gues will love it and your wedding will be perfect.  I did alot of worrying and we forgot so many little details the day of but it didn't matter it rained the day we got married but everything turned out even more so beautiful as I'd hope for!  Good Luck everyone!

@chanelo, sweetie your dress is simply FANTASTIC!!! i love it and I love the whole style, you will look amazing in it hon :)))xxxx Such a shame we arrive at the hotel after your wedding, would of love to get a sneak peak of your big day and congratulate you in person!xx

Thanks also for ebay umbrellas link, it does look stunning and very delicate on your picture with the flower on it! The quality of umbrella does look amazing too, will be definitely ordering some this weekend :D

Oh glad your flight is going to be basically 9h ish and you will be arriving a day earlier to Manchester - it always good to start getting into holiday mood earlier ;) Although we live not far from Gatwick, where we will be flying from, we have still booked a night before in a hotel there, so we won't need to leave home in a middle of the night and than have over 9h flight ahead of us.

And you have scored on your hair arrangements, having someone you trust there doing your hair is amazing :)) I am having my hair down too, not fan of the up does :)) and wearing a cathedral veil, was not keen on the whole veil idea at first, but than tried it on with my dress and it does look lovely :D

Definitely share with us any other ideas you managed to gather would love to see :))) I will post some as well as I go along :D Btw just found a very simple but nice bags for our welcome bags here is pic, tell me what you think ladies:

    Turquoise1-Special-Day-15x9.jpg

Will add some tissue paper and and add all the goods in there :)) Was thinking to do beach bags at first in each room, but than realized that my family consist of majority women and most of them would like to get their own bag lol :D so only for bags I was looking to spend about £200 lol, so found this alternative instead :D I have not purchased them just yet, so would appreciate your opinion on it girls :))

@Jessica we are using HDC photographer too, cant wait myself to see Arnauds pictures, he does seem a very pleasant guy :)

Amurka, these bags are beautiful!  I am sure your guests will love them and enjoy the goodies inside!  I take it you haven't spoken to Fanny, I do apologize, I will actually be in DR next weekend and will see her next Friday night, let me know if you'd like me to have her contact you.

Sabrina, I didn't have a rehearsal dinner.  I had a Bonfire on the beach with a DJ which turned out really nice and was tons of fun.

I'm new to this site and this is my first message. The site is fab for info, I'm getting married at the dreams La Romana on the seventh of September next year and from the Uk so I know little about the resort.

I read your post that you got your tiffany chairs from an outside vendor and was just wondering if they have a website ? or if they speak english ?. Any tips or advice would be really appreciated.

    Congratulations

I'm so excited to have come across this forum... it's like god send! You ladies are great! I hope I can provide useful information as much and as good as you all have.

I have been engaged for almost 3 months now... and from day 1 I knew it would be Dreams La Romana for me! I still feel that way and hope I don't gravitate elsewhere... We plan to marry July 2013... not 100% sure yet of the actual date...

I know 2013 sounds far for many ppl but it will be here before we know it... The more time the better we can plan and look/shop around for options.

In looking at the package and all their additional stuff like chairs etc... it's def going to add up really quick! So if you ladies come across any vendors outside of the resort please post their information this way we can all reach out to them and see what we can work out...

I think $8USD a chair is quite pricey sad.gif... specially when you might have 100ppl at the wedding...

I was curious if any of you have inquired about the ballroom? I have read on their site that if you have an outdoor wedding reception and it's raining you can switch it to the ballroom? How is that? any pictures? is there an extra charge?

Also if you are allowing kids to attend the wedding has the resort given you a deal? like kids under 12 stay & eat free? Just wondering as I have 2 of my own and many ppl in our families do too.

    xoxo!

    Hi!  Congrat's!

You may want to use a travel agent.  I had someone from Apple her name is Sue and you can contact her at 847-623-1919  she will be able to get you great rates, take care of the children and even get you upgrades depending on how many people you have coming who book through her.  You can let her know Francys Rodriguez referred you.  She was amazing.  Good Luck.

    Thanks again!

     Hi Sabrinaa,

The cake came in from the capital (Santo Domingo) Only the bottom two were real, it was delish, crema de leche and pineapple, very very good!  The same person who arranged my flowers, if you'd like forward your email address to me in a message or email her at [email protected]   you will speak to Walquiria or Fanny.

We also worked with Apple, and those ladies are AMAZING! They will do anything for you! On the last night, Kenya even found out that I wasn't feeling too great, and I didn't eat my dinner. So she called me to see what she could get me and called room service to have tea and crackers sent up. And Walquiria sat with me for at least 30 minutes trying to get all my guests in rooms in buildings 4 and 5, so that we were all close. They are just great!

And I'll put it in my review...but ladies, I can't stress enough, if there is something you want, or something that isn't right, just ASK, and everyone will bend over backwards to fix it for immediately! Their cusomer service is beyond anything I could have dreamed of!

I am so happy to hear you had a good exprience as I did.  Walquiria was amazing, everyone there was they truly do aim to please.  Congrats on becoming a Mrs, your picture is beautiful!!

  7. Kim, thank you so much for posting the pictures!  Guys please note these pictures are untouched, Cesar Bido is actually working on them and I can't wait to see the end result.

He is an amazing photographer, trust me...we are proff some us aren't as pretty as we look in his pictures ;)

If you can...do jump into the pool!!  It was loads of fun, we had a great time.  You've all made a great selection Dreams La Romana is so much more beautiful than what we see in pictures in person.

Chanelo, Feb is a great month to get married in DR, not as hot as July was but trust me it will be here before you know!

Feel free guys to ask should you have any questions, again...Congrat's everyone!!

    (Thanks Kim!!!)

  8. Yes, they do have flowers.  You may want to look into them.  I had my flowers come in from Santo Domingo also, I got a really good deal on the flowers and cake.

The Oceana is semi outside, there is room to dance, lots of it.  I had 82 people, but it did end at 11ish at which point we all moved into the disco which was nice, I wanted everything to take place outside but I hear the ballroom is really nice.

I will be honest and say, try to get what ever you can outside of the hotel, everything that you do through them will be pricy.  The girls will work with you but the price adds up the more you select.

Glad I could help, make sure you both forward pictures when your time comes. :)

  9. Hi Girls,

Kim, please feel free to post those, I'd appreciate that.  We did have a great time, we didn't allow the rain to stop us.  We used the "Oceana" for the reception, I highly suggest it, lots of privacy on that side of the hotel.

For the chairs, they do have silver they pretty much have any color you would like, they also have settings, overlays, flowers anything you can think of ;)

Tiffany chairs I was charged $145 RD which came up to $3.82 US, for transportation to and from they charged $400 RD/ $11 US.

Please let me know if there is anything I can help you guys with, I wish you all the very best, alot of time and effort goes into planning, girls "The Day" flies by so make sure to take a minute for yourself and just savior each moment.

  10. Not a problem at all, I will forward you both prints.  In all honesty he doesn't have a price list, he just qouted me as well.  He did give me all of the disks (2) with over 1,200 pictures.

He's very well known in the country I am actually working with him again soon, I'm getting a session just for me and my daughter where we will be taking pictures in different parts of the captial.

Just in case he has a US number 845-445-2186

  11. Hi Brendee and Sabrina,

Please forward me your email, I will send you pictures.  He was great, from start to finish, the man didn't even take a break and he knows what he is doing.  His pictures are amazing, I am beyond happy with his work.  In total including the hotel room I paid a little under $2000.  Trust me when I say you will not regret it.  The room for him and the assistant was $250 for the night but talk to your travel agent I am sure you can get it cheaper, I had to do it last minute.

I was very, very pleased.  The pictures to me were the most important part ;)

    Happy Planning guys,

    Francys

  12. Hello Ladies,

I just had the pleasure of getting married this past Saturday 7/23/11 at Dreams La Romana; I will post pictures as soon as I figure it out.  I do have to say to those planning, please donâ€t worry, there is absolutely nothing to worry about.

Iâ€m sure that sending an email and not getting a response till a few days later can be frustrating.  But, Yanna and Jenny are beyond busy; there wasnâ€t a moment where I walked into their office where they werenâ€t on the phone or with another bride.  However please trust that what ever you say you want you will get, Yanna is very detailed she amazed me at how well she followed through, she remembered things I had forgotten, her notes were on point and once I met with her, I knew I had selected the right location I knew that she would have everything under control and that nothing could go wrong, rain or shine.

I will give a few details as to what to expect:

Arrival    we were greeted with champagne taken straight to the Preferred section where we were staying they checked us in VIP style and I really mean that, when I walked into my suite, I do have to say, pictures do not serve this place justice, expect that it will be way more beautiful than what you see online.  The staff is beyond friendly, everyone was simply amazing.

Arrival of my guests    I worked with Apple Travel and Walquiria their representative on premises is amazing, she greeted my guests in separate area (near the club) with snacks, drinks and champagne. From the very beginning they were all very impressed.

The Rooms     Not one of my guests complained, everyone was very happy.  We had 3 birthday girls while we were there and their rooms were beautifully decorated with balloons all over the place a banner saying “Happy Birthday†on the door and a bottle of champagne.

The Welcome Party   The DJ was great, my husband is West Indian he had a great selection of smooth reggae and soca, as well merengue and bachata.  The bartender was also great, honoring my many requests with special drinks for the “Bride†Belliniâ€s and the “Groom† Cocolososâ€.

Our Wedding Day  It rained, I was very upset but as I stated above, Yanna ensured me nothing would go wrong.  I had my hair and make up done at the spa by Maria and she was beyond patient, I had a trial the day before where I left feeling a little uneasy but the day off my hair looked great, the makeup looked exactly as I envisioned it.

Cesar Bido was my photographer and he was simply amazing, I will post pictures soon however you can view his work at www.ceasarbido.com  now, Tropical pictures is also great, they did take pictures also since it was part of the “Ultimate Wedding†package and I do have to say, their pictures are also very pretty.  The Video brought tears to my eyes; it was very well put together from beginning to end as well as the music.  He captured the sweetest moments creating great memories for us.

The Ceremony  we were able to have our wedding at the beach gazebo as we hoped for, the sun came out for just enough time for us to get out there and have our dream come true, the gazebo was beautifully decorated, our guests are looked amazing with rose petals, rose balls and gold tiffany chairs which I rented from an outside vendor at under $5 each rose petals.

The Ceremony lasted about 30 minutes from which we quickly moved into the Cocktail Hour followed by the Reception the food, drinks, music was all on point.  I used an outside vendor, the centerpieces and décor at the reception…amazing, the cake…beautifully done, surprised and impressed everyone.

Overall  I have to say I would rate it an A+  our wedding was everything I dreamed off and more with the exception of the rain.

  13. Hello,   Just sharing for those who may be interested in Tiffany chairs, I found a great vendor who was able to provide the chairs at $5 each, you can contact Alex Rijo at 809-556-5959 or  via email at [email protected]   I am also using Cesar Bido as my photographer, you can take a look at his website at cesarbido.com his work is amazing and his prices are very reasonable.   We're getting married July 23 if anyone has any questions please feel free to ask.  Good luck and happy planning everyone!

  14. Hi guys,

Sorry it took me a while to get back to you, the person whom is supplying the chairs for me works for a local company in La Romana, the Tiffany chairs come in various colors, the same offered by Dreams.  The only problem is she only speaks spanish, if that is not a problem you can contact her at 809-526-7448 her name is Marilyn and you can let her know Francy gave you her number and you're interested in the chairs.

She does more than just the chairs, she can also provide flowers at a great rate and more!  If by any chance you don't speak spanish, I have no problem speaking to her for you.  Just send me a message with the date of your wedding and what you're interested in.
