  1. I wish we had a Dollar Tree in Canada!

I can't believe they charge people $1000 for the plantation for a reception and then they give it to couples for free anyway if the steak house is busy! Madness! We had it for 3 hours for nothing.

  5. Very pretty.  Now that I've picked this theme, there are so many options.  I like this cake topper but don't know if it's too much.  For me it's not...hahhaha.

  6. WOW, I would love to know what you put in your $10.00 OOT bags.  For that price, I would totally be up for it.  The amazingness of the ladies on here that are doing an OOT bag has me weary of doing one myself for budget constraints.  Could you please share?

  7. Great question!  Thanks for asking it :)

  8. These look amazing!!!  How much would you say you spent per bag?  How many did you have to make (i.e. 1 per person or per room)?

  9. I think 2 years notice to save is GREAT!  I asked some of my girls to be in my wedding before I was even engaged...lol.  Some of the girls told me they were in my wedding party and some I waited until they had already booked.  If your engagement is 2 years long, then they won't need to do anything for a bit so that could be great incentive :)

  10. Thank you for the great wishes!  I saw that you are originally from Canada but have moved to Playa del Carmen.  My best friend did the same and has been there for 5 years.  She is in the pre-engagement/research phase of her planning but I'll pass along your info to her.  I'm sure she'd love a fellow Canadian to shoot her day.  Gracias.

  11. Thanks Tris.  I saw your TTD pics several times but for some reason I missed those shots.  Great to know we can stay as dry or get as wet as we want.  BTW, George the peacock has now become my inspiration for my theme and colors.  Thanks for posting your pics!!

  12. Thanks Acireta!  I love the idea of the girls wearing different colors.  My FI doesn't want the guys to wear suits for the heat factor so I'm trying to decide how to work that in.  I'm also thinking of the girls carrying a parasol but can't think how to tie that into the theme.  Hmmm, so many choices...hahaha.

Also, I think the colors you mentioned will look great together, especially with bouts/bouquets to tie them together. I had a friend that had three bridesmaids - one each in purple, turquoise and green and it looked great! The GMs all wore all black with coordinating ties (puple, blue and green).

I love peacock, so maybe I'm a bit biased in favor of it! :-)

  13. Hi Ladies.

After much debating, I have finally picked our theme and colors.  We are having a peacock themed wedding and our colors are purple and turquoise.  I'm so excited to have found garter belts on Etsy.com and purchased them already.

My question is how much peacock is too much?  I don't know where to put it and how to use it.  I am thinking of having the girls wear purple dresses and my FI wants turquoise shirts for the guys with black pants.  Do you think that would look good?  Since deciding, I have now found a cake topper with peacock feathers and bouts and bouquets.   Anyone have any suggestions on how to use the peacock them without it being tacky.

  14. For Mahoe Falls, could you have done pics in the water if you wanted to/were able to?  I really want to get wet on my TTD :)

I don't even have any pictures of the restaurant during our meal to show you....  And I can't even remember how many people were at each table!  Everything goes by in a blur so it's hard to remember details.  My only advice is don't stress about the little things - our wedding was amazing, and all the little things I thought would be important just didn't seem to matter when we got down there!  And everyone told us it was the most amazing wedding they've been to, so I guess it didn't matter to them either!

  19. GOOD LUCK!!!  I'm sure you will have a gorgeous wedding ;)  Can't wait to hear all about it!!!

  20. Mexico has such a special place in my heart.  My BFF and I went there together on vacation in 2006.  We loved it so much, we quite our jobs the day we got back to move there.  We had each made a plan for each other on how we could make it work and what we would do for work.  My plan was to go back to school for massage therapy and move down when I was done.  Her plan was to take some courses and move there.  Well, that was 5 years ago.  My BFF has lived there for 5 years now and while I was in school I met my FI and moved to his city instead.

I love Mexico!!!!  I have stayed in Playa del Carmen amongst the locals and found people to be helpful, kind and very warm.  My safety was never an issue, although I certainly didn't walk any back allies at night (I don't do that at home either).  When we were deciding on our DW, Mexico was one of 2 places to make the list.  In the end, we chose not have our wedding there bc we knew many of our guests would not attend bc they also watch the 6 o'clock news.

Thank you for posting this.  It warmed my heart a little and reminded me of how one beautiful place on earth changed my life in more ways than I could have imagined!
