  1. Hello fellow Sandals Brides.

We're getting married on 4th August 2011 & Sandals Antigua Grande Resort & Spa & are having the BB wedding package.  Would love to hear from other Sandals Brides out there.

I am getting married at Sandals Grande Ocho Rios on April 2, 2011.  We are going with the BB theme.

  2. Hi Vickytoria,

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one getting pretty irrational about everything.  No one seems to understand why I'm getting so anxious about things.  There are ony 6 of us in total & all of the guests are FI's family.  (I dont have any contact with my family & my close friends either have booked their holidays for this year or can't afford the trip).  I guess I just feel a little out on a limb.

Like you say, I think we have to feel 100% happy with the dresses we pick but it's so hard trying to find something that you love & also appropriate for a destination wedding.  I'm sure your dress will look stunning.  Do you have any pictures?

We're just starting to plan music.  I thought it would be easier to have the steel drums for the 2 hour reception, but now I'm not so sure because I think we have to provide them with the music we want them to play.  I might ask Dania if they have set music.  We're left with finding music for guests prior to arrival of FI, my arrival, signing of register, recessional & whether or not to have music for the 30 mins Hors d'oeurves.  What do you think?

High heels or kittens....  I'm having a similar problem.  I live in my heels but FI is the same height as me & if I go for my usual 4" I'm going to tower over him in the photos.  That said, it's never bothered me before. LOL.  What are your worries about them, do you normally wear high heels?

I'll let you know how it goes on Monday with FMIL & the dress.

I have the opposite problem - I'm worried my dress is too 'weddingy' for a destination wedding!!  To be honest I bought it with my wedding reception party in mind rather than the wedding itself.  Its not huge but its not a slim and slinky dress some of the lovely brides have in the destination photos.  People are telling me I am just finding something to panic about!  I am going for my final fitting on Friday so hopefully I'll calm down after that.

I have quite a bit still to do - Sandals asked us to choose some songs which we havent done yet (it wasnt something we particularly wanted to do) and I need to decide on hair - it'll definitely be up though.  Im also having a drama over high shoes or kitten heels although I guess its a pretty small thing!!

I have become pretty irrational about everything so if I were you I'd value the opinions of those people around you.  But you only do it once so you have to have the dress you want!  I think the FMIL is a good plan - let me know what you decide.  Whatever it is I dont think you'll be worrying about it on the day!

  3. Hi Vickytoria,

Glad to hear you've finalised things with Dania.  You must be getting so excited!  What do you have left to do, if anything?

I've been having a bit of a nightmare over my dress.  I bought a lovey Alfred Angelo, duches satin, fitted with a little puddle train.  Ideal for a beach wedding but then I started questioning whether it was 'weddingy' enough.  Cut a long story short, I decided to try on some other styles just to see.  I've now found a stunning dress which makes me feel every inch a bride but...... It's 10 times the price of the Alfred Angelo I bought (it was on sale).  Everyone loves the first dress but they know I got it in the sale & I'm sure they are taking that into consideration when giving their opinion.   I've asked FMIL to come & have a look on Monday & let me know which one she thinks is the best.  She doesnt know the price of either.  I just want to have the 'wow factor'.  Really in two minds what to do.

I'm also going to go for the hair & make up package.  I've only heard good things which helped me make my mind up.  Have you got any idea as to what hairstyle you're going to go for?

Will look forward to hearing what the box is like.  They definitely seem to be the best option for getting your dress there safely.

    Take care.

Yes, I'm in the Cardiff.  I've just finalised everything with Dania - I've gone for the hair/makeup/manicure/pedicure package and the dressing attendant too.  You can have the hair and makeup done in your room for $50 extra!  The package includes a trial, which I'll be having the day before, but you can choose when this will be.

I also have a box to transport my dress - it hasnt arrived yet but I'll let you know what it's like when it does!

    Hi Melodygayle,

Still waiting for my WC to get back to me.  Would it be possible for you to send me a copy of the sample ceremony program.  I'm hoping it will help to put my mind at rest.  For some strange reason, I've started flapping about the whole thing.  Thanks again.

I am new to the forum and getting some excellent ideas on here for my Aug 2011 St John wedding- thanks!

I would love to hear of anyone's experience with bringing their gown on a plane, a little worried about that one :)

    Hi Kim,

I've been looking into the idea of a 'Travel Box'.  They seem quite a good idea & you can take them on board as hand luggage. They come with layers of tissue paper etc.  Let me know if you want any further details.

I think you're right, the time will just fly by & before we know it we'll be looking at the photos.   I don't know why I'm flapping about wearing the wedding dress to go to bars etc, I think i keep forgetting there will be sooo many weddings taking place.  It might be that I'm not 100% convinced about my dress.  Have decided to have a look to see if there are others out there that I will feel 100% great in.

Michelle, that sounds so lovely to have your son give you away.  Like you, we dont have a wedding day plan, only the ceremony time.  I've emailed our WC but still waiting for her to reply.

Will keep you updated as to the dress & whether I find something else.

We asked for 4pm but got given 1pm :-( (i'll deal with it) Like you we have a small group coming with us (7 inc us 2) and we will be done by 1.30pm and reception diner not til 6.45 ish.... i WILL stay in my dress though, go to lobby bar etc... im sure time will fly by..... (fingers x'd) then we'll be p***ed by time we have reception diner.... whoops!!!! x

  7. Hi Kerry,

    Congratulations on setting the date.

I'm also worried about setting the right atmosphere.  we only have 4 guests coming & I'm really struggling with making sure they have as great a time as we plan to.  Its hard though, our wedding's booked for 4pm & after trying to work out all the timings etc, I think it will all be over be 7.30 latest.  What do we do with them then?  I'm not too comfortable with going to a bar in wedding clothes but feel it might be rude to simply send them on their way for the evening.

Have you thought about music etc, we're having a 2 hour meal / reception but I'm not sure how to 'keep them entertained'.

How are the rest of your plans coming along?

  8. Hi Vickytoria

    Congratulations!!

I'm thinking of having my hair / make up done at Sandals but haven't booked anything yet.  I've sent my WC, Dania, an email today asking if you get a trial run & if so, when this will be.  We fly out on the 1st & get married on 4th so I'd like to be sure that everything will be done in time.   You can for someone to come to your villa / room to do your hair / make up, but there's an additional cost.  I believe you can aslo ask for someone to come & help you get dressed.

Where abouts do you live, are you in the UK?

Not sure if any of this is of any use to you.

  9. Hi All,

I'm hoping that this thread doesn't already exist.  Apologies if it does, I looked but couldn't find anything.

Does anyone know if the vows at Sandals Antigua are standard or if you have to bring your own.  It's not something we'd thought about before but having viewed a couple of videos online I'm now concerned that we haven't thought about this.

Any info you could offer would be greatly received.

Hope everyone's doing well & looking forward to their big day.

  10. Hi All,

Glad to have come across this forum.  So much good info.  We're getting married on 4th August.  I'm hoping that all you lucky brides will post your reviews & any tips as I'm the last in line.

We have 4 guests in total & have opted for the Beautiful Beginnings package but have also added the 2 hour reception.   Has anyone got any feedback / info on photography.  I'd heard that you cant ask external photographers on site & you must use Sandals photographer.   Has anyone opted to use the hair & make up option?  I'm a little worried that there wont be time for a practice run beforehand.  (We get there 3 days beforehand)

Dania is our Planner & we have had an hour long telephone conversation with her.  I didn't find her particularly helpful to be honest & we waited for over an hour to receive a call from her only to find that she was off sick but no one had notified us.  Thankfully our TA have been great & as we have such a small wedding party there's very little to arrange.

We're flying from the UK & I'm a little worried about transporting our wedding clothes.  I've heard about some kind of box you can pack your dress in & take on board as hand luggage.  Has anyone heard of or used these?

I'm looking forward to hearing all your news on your forthcoming weddings.   Congratulations to you all
