  1. Wow sounds like everyone on here is getting down to business. I just booked my flight with Jetblue but I was looking into Virgin, but I don't think they fly into Cancun only Los Cabos. I could be wrong and they haven't posted it or u r not flying from where I am. Virgin is def. a nice airline to fly on! Good luck with planning. I guess I need to get on it and get those invitations done and mailed out. Im slackin!!

I was so excited to find this thread.  More brides to discuss things with.  :)

    11~18~11 at Aventura Palace Resort.

18 is a very important number to both of us so our wedding date had to be on the 18th.  I even skipped over 6 months (thought 6-18-11 originally) just to find another 18th on a good day LOL.

Anyways....I briefly browsed thru the thread and I am so excited to see other Palace brides on here.

Planning is going well but like most of you everything is figured out and now I just have to wait to find out how many guests are showing up.

     - Buying my dress this Tuesday (super excited to check that off)

     - Bridesmaid dresses are narrowed down to 4 dresses from the same designer

     - Passport Invites are done (on the computer) but waiting for a new cute picture of us to put on them before printing

     - Invites getting mailed out in June with an RSVP of 8/18/11 which gives me 3 months to buy the things I need

     - Already have my wedding shoes and back up flip flops

     - Making BM gifts (bedazzling flip flops, wristlets, etc.)

     - FI has his white linen suit already :)

     - Already have La Luna booked for my photographer and I am super excited about that

     - We are waiting for Virgin America to come out with their November pricing for flights down to Cancun - super cheap!!

     - We are booking our flights home this weekend using our Jetblue points (FREEEEEEE!!!)

     - We have 8 ppl booked so far

Right now all my stress is coming from the AHR.  FI and I are paying for our wedding and his parents are offering to pay for the AHR.  It's going to be big and formal and it's stressing me out!!  I am trying to leave it all up to FI and his parents to decide on budget and location and other things but I am the type of person that needs to be in control so I am doing so much research and contacting places and getting pricing but its pretty much up to them so I feel like I'm just spinning the wheels and going no where.  UGH!! wacko.gif  But I want to make sure my FI is happy and gets the wedding reception he really wanted since he agreed to having a destination wedding knowing most of his friends won't be able to make it.

So besides all of that I am celebrating my 30th bday msnparty.gif  this weekend so that should take my mind off wedding stuff for a while.  Until Tuesday when I go to buy my dress and all the thoughts start flooding my head again haha!!

Have a fun and safe Memorial Day weekend everyone!!

I printed the original wording in case they changed it and it said "Ceremony Locations: Beach area, Terrace (can accomodate up to 40 guests) or solarium area. If solarium area is chosen, a CD player is not provided, extra fee will apply." It now reads " If solarium or beach area is chosen....". They told me they were changing the site in the email and I had just missunderstood the previous wording. It seems pretty clear to me but I am starting to realize that it is pretty much whatever they decide at the moment to charge or not charge for. On another hand, Lorena has been absolutely fabulous trying to schedule everything and my planner did get to me over 2 months prior to the wedding. If you thought the CD player was included, I recommend you challenge it on the previous wording. Maybe if they get enough fallout from it they will honor the prior advertisement.

I do remember reading that as well. Can you post the original wording for those of us who were unable to copy that before they changed it? It would be much appreciated1 Thank you_Danitha

Hey ladies, I'm attaching some of the files my wedding planner sent me. Not sure if you're received them yet from your planners, but it'll give you a good idea of what the resort offers. I wish I'd been able to see these much sooner, so here you go! I'm leaving one week from today so hopefully everything's all set!!

I was just curious on how to view this info u posted. It is not allowing me to download the attachments. I am getting married at the Playacar Palace in Nov. and this would be so helpful if I could view it. Thank you-Danitha

  4. Andi,

I just wanted to say have a wonderful anny/vacay at PP. I will be getting married there on 11/11/11 and am still a little apprehensive about a few things. Photos would be awesome if u can. Esp. of the beach and how close the ferry and senor frogs is to the hotel. My fiance is worried I will be disappointed that the beach may not be what I am hoping for. I have been told by other girls on here that the beach is beautiful so I am trusting there advice. When purchasing airfare did u find it cheaper to fly into cozumel?? Have a wonderful trip!! Enjoy!!

  5. Hello ladies,

Congrats to all the future brides!! I am also 11/11/11 at the Playacar Palace. I am getting so nervous about the rising cost of fuel that I am afraid no one will come because airfare will be so astronomical. Also looking for an available photographer for this date is getting harder and harder. Most are already booked. Yikes I need to get on a lot of stuff. Save the dates went out. I have a dress but still looking for another, Nov. is still a ways away and I cant seem to settle on what I want. Good luck to you all!!

    HI Ladies,

I was married on 10/10/10 the Miami office told me the SAME thing, and i DID NOT see 1 other bride, groom, wedding, wedding flower NOTHING...(on the same day as mine)  I was only AFTER the reception was over and we took the party to the bar that I saw the "other" bride.  SO in my opinion, I wouldnt worry about it.

Thx Tanya for your response, I have been a little worried about the wedding factory quality that I have read about the palace hotels. Did you have a problem with booking all your guest there since there r only 208 rms? I have been told there aren't anymore of the deluxe reg. rooms  left. Ugh and I wanted it to be more affordable, oh well! Thx again for all the posts. Congrats to all!!!

  7. Hi Girls,

Just wanted to know if anyone had heard of Bridal Blvd.? They seem to have the exact same layout as light in the box, same web page, dresses, etc. They are having a deal now until 2/12 on free custom sizing and $10 shipping if anyone's interested. I am in the same boat as everyone posting, whether to get a knock off and from where?? Good luck and Congrats!!

The whole process with them was wonderful, they are very thorough!

I will post pictures of it for you all hopefully tonight... they aren't great pictures but I'll explain why when I post them :)

ok first off congrats to all you brides and future brides!! This thread has been so informative and I want to thank all the posts. At kittenheart_ your dress looked beautiful on you. Which dress did u have Duosheng replicate for you. I am looking at some of the Pronovias and am worried that there might be too much detail with lace, beads etc. for it to come out looking like I want. Thx again for allowing me to post here so late;) danitha

  9. Congrats to those who have gotten married so far and congrats to all you fellow 2011 brides. My fiance and I have chosen the Playacar Palace and our date is set for 11/11/11. I have already become obsessive on whether or not we have chosen the right hotel and if it will be affordable for our guests. I keep hearing about airfare hikes and come November, I am not sure how thats all gonna look. Anyways to all you lovely ladies as well as others who post, thank you so much for your input. It has been so helpful!!! :)

I'm sorry it's taken so long to post, but I was married at PP in November and had the most amazing experience.  To sum it up...we had 60 guests.  We did a welcome cocktail/hor d'ouerves get together on Friday night in the South Solarium, ceremony on the beach, reception in the North Solarium, and brunch on Sunday in the asian restaurant.  The service, food and resort overall was outstanding.  Our guests are still talking about it and had a blast.  Dulce was our wedding coordinator and she is the best!  I wasn't really particular about things like the cake, flowers, small details.  But she is!  She took my vague vision and turned it into the most incredible wedding I could've imagined.  I will try and post some pics if I can figure out how to do it on this website.  If anyone has specific questions about PP, please don't hesitate to ask.  I would do it all over again in a heartbeat...PP is wonderful and I would recommend it to anyone.  For anyone having doubts or concerns, don't worry, it really will be amazing!

Samantha its sounds like your wedding was perfect. Congrats!! I am planning a November 2011 wedding at the PP and  just had a few quetions for u on urs. First-did u go with complimentary or chose one of the packages? did u go with a travel agent? did the ferry so close create debris/garbage? my fiance is pretty concerned this will take away from the serenity of the beach experience, more like hes concerned I will get there and be upset about it. Thanx for your posts!! Danitha

  12. I am planning a November 2011 wedding at the Playacar palace but I have a concern about the ferry being so close and it attracting garbage, etc to the beach. Did any of the PP brides who wed there in the past few years have any issues with the dock so close or is it just appear to be that close in pics? Congrats to all you lovely ladies out there and thx for allowing me to post!!!

  13. Thank you so much ChelsH for getting back to me with the info. I am so undecided on where I want to have our wedding. The Valentin is so beautiful but I have a spot reserved at the Playacar palace so I am torn on what to do. The major two concerns for m are 1) at the Playacar, the ferry seems so close to the hotel and since I haven had a site visit, I dont know if this will be a problem and 2) at the Valentin I am unsure if the rates for the rooms will be as low as I have found

Were you given a specific room rate and may I ask what it might be?

Are you also dealing with a travel agent?Thanx again and Congrats!!

  14. I am looking into this resort but have no contact info for the wedding coordinators. If possible could u pass on the info. Your wedding sounded amazing and Congrats!

    Here's my review : )

The resort:  The Valentin was WONDERFUL.  This place is just great.  From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty.  The pool is so much fun, the beach is gorgeous and swimmable.  We loved all the restaurants.  This is the best place I have ever been to.  Planning to return ASAP.

Our room was a silver suite and it was awesome.  The Jacuzzi tub was such a nice addition to the already over-the-top romantic room.  I took a long bath every evening before dinner.  So relaxing.

Champagne, fruit basket, cute animals made out of towels, room service, minibar……I could go on and on.

The wedding day:  The day could not have went more smoothly.  The only bump we had was my sister & brother in lawâ€s flight was delayed and they were unable to make the ceremony.  But Ana & Adriana were on their walkie talkies until the second I was to walk down the aisle checking with the front desk to see if they arrived.  They didnâ€t get there until after 7, so the missed the ceremony but were able to join us for the reception dinner.

Our ceremony was performed by Kiko Flores.  He did a beautiful job and incorporated everything I had requested.

They decorated our room beautifully on our wedding night.  There were roses &  petals every where & bride & groom swans made out of towels.

My wedding was perfect : )

Wedding Coordinator:  We had Ana as our wedding coordinator.  Everything was perfect.  She had every little detail exactly as we had talked.  It was amazing.

Flowers:  Exactly what we wanted.  They were so beautiful.  We ordered extra flowers for the cake, my mom, BM, MOH, etc.  Everything came exactly as ordered – down to my special request to have the MOH bouquet wrapped in white satin ribbon.

Cake:  Over the top gorgeous.  I gave Ana a picture from a bridal magazine of my dream cake and brought her the ribbon from home.  It was perfection, down to the flowers and detailing on the cake  When they brought it out everyone was thrilled.  It was so beautiful.  And it was yummy too!  We chose chocolate.

Reception: At the Mexican restaurant and just ordered off the all-inclusive menu.  They waited on us hand and foot & did a great job setting up for the cake.  They even had our champagne flutes waiting for us at the restaurant – which I totally forgot about and never would have missed had they not shown up.

Photos by Blue Lens Caribe:  Awesome.  Seriously, some of these photos look like they should be in a brochure advertisement for destination weddings and my gorgeous husband looks like a model in his solo shots.  Perfection.  Ashley and Dennis were our photographers and they were great to work with.  Professional, fun, and the end product is truly outstanding.  The wedding was on Wednesday and they came to the resort on Friday to show us the pictures.  They put together a slide show for us set to music and the songs they chose were our best manâ€s wedding song and our 1st dance song!  The slide show instantly brought me to tears & was a great addition to our wedding photo package.  We have watched it about 100 times since we got home.  I canâ€t wait to play it for our guests at our reception next weekend.

I didnâ€t realize how important the wedding photos were until after the wedding.  As a bride, you are so caught up in everything that you miss a lot of the “sceneryâ€.  I am so glad that we had Blue Lens there to capture everything for us.

Lomas Transfers:  There is a special place in hell for the Lomas reps that kept calling our room trying to sell us excursions.  Even though we met with them in person on our 2nd day to tell them we were getting married and would not be leaving the resort, they kept calling………..and calling and calling  They called us on our wedding night (I watched them write down the day we were getting married, so I was doubly offended by this).  They called us at 8:30 am the morning after we got married.  They called us at 8:30 am the day before we left.  I donâ€t know about yâ€all but while vacationing we stay up late and sleep late so these early morning calls were definitely NOT appreciated.  Especially on our wedding night.  Seriously?!

They were hassling my mother and her friend the whole time they were there also.  The people who used transfers other than Lomas did not have this issue.  They suck.

The only good thing I can say about Lomas is that they got us to and from the airport safely & quickly.

Continental Airlines:  Best flying I have ever done in my life.  Hands down.

Feel confident in your choice to get married at VIM ladies!  You made a great choice.

I saw some comments earlier about shoe choices.  I agonized for hours over my shoes and I never even took them out of the box.  My legs were too shaky before the ceremony & the floors at the VIM are all marble and slippery!  I went barefoot at the ceremony (which was planned) and wore white flips from Old Navy the rest of the night.  Oh well, at least they are dyeable : )
