  1. We considered Tabacon for our wedding but it turned into a larger affair than I had anticipated so we are having the ceremony at Villa Caletas and Honeymooning at Tabacon. My Fiance was an exchange student when he was in college and lived just outside of San Jose and has raved about Arenal, LaFortuna and Tabacon since day one! I am really excited about going. I have read a lot of reviews and would suggest researching alternative dining options if you are watching your spending during your stay. Hotels in Costa Rica tend to charge what you would expect an upscale hotel to charge for food, I'm talking $18 for a burger...not to mention sales tax is 13%! But if you head into town you are likely to find places to dine that are a little less pricey. Unfortunately I haven't attended a wedding here so I can't give you any advice, however I would suggest to you to check out TripAdvisor.com, that's the site I have been researching most often for information about the areas we plan to visit, whats nearby, etc. I found this comment about a wedding in the comments section for Tabacon: “The most relaxing wedding experience.†Reviewed February 2, 2011 "I went with my 6 member family ( 20,18,10,4,47 and 60 years old) to my niece wedding at Tabacon this past January. The experience was very relaxing, all of us enjoyed every minute, the setting was just perfect, the ceremony was at sunset, the food was the best, the atmosphere was very friendly, the people at the Hotel and Spa were very nice. I definitively recomend Tabacon as a wedding setting if you intend to marry in a very unique way." Wish I could give you more feedback, I hope you have a great time-Congrats!
  2. Hi, I have been a member for a while not but this is my first post-yay! I am finally getting down to business organizing and planning my destination wedding. We have picked Villa Caletas in North Puntarenas for our venue site and already reserved the Amphitheater, now I need to get that area decorated! The hotel quoted me on a few options and I am positive I can either DIY or find my own vendor for less since hotels tend to up-charge. Things I am looking for at a great price & dependable vendors include: Florist for: Bouquets, Petals, Arrangements, etc. Good Photographer (new or established business is fine with me, I will have a photographer as a guest but don't want him to work on vacation ) Alcohol/Spirit Vendor (For wine and beer before and after the ceremony, don't know if we are allowed to bring our own liquor to the site) Local attractions, venues, restaurants, things to do, etc. Shuttle, Taxi companies At the moment these are all that come to mind, any hair salons in the area might be helpful as well for MOB, etc. Anyone else who has had (or attended) a wedding here and might have any dos, don'ts and suggestions would be very helpful..
