Hey ladies, today is our legal ceremony here! I'm so excited. A few of my coworkers know but none of my family and friends do. I kind of like that its our little secret. It will just be myself, my fiancé, and my son at 1pm today!!

I know how you guys feel! Dealing with this resort has been challenging and irritating, at best. I finally made our final payment (was waiting on Claudy to fix the issues with the bill), so hopefully I get my onsite coordinator (Elizabeth Sotelo) soon. And today is our legal day! Exciting! We decided it will be myself, my fiancé, and my son.

My son is 10 so I don't think I can pretend it's something else...lol. We are still debating. I feel like as soon as I tell him not to say anything, it'll be the first thing he does! We are doing a sweetheart table for the same reason you said Mizpriya! We have about 32 guests (including 3 kids) so we will have 4 tables.

We are having our legal ceremony this coming Sunday! We haven't told anyone and are debating if we want my son to be there. I'm torn because I would love him to be there but I'm afraid he will tell people! Lol

Those look great! You did an awesome job!So I was super wedding productive and crafty this weekend. I feel so much better now that all of this stuff is done. I posted a picture of my MOH bouquet (which I did add a little more ribbon going down - thanks Murmel!), but I finished mine yesterday. The one picture is a bit dark. But the broach on mine is my something old from my Grandma, so I have something of hers with me as they aren't attending. It's what her dad gave to her mom when my Grandma was born (follow that? haha). So it's super sentimental. I also finished our menus and program fans. What a load off! We leave 1 month from tomorrow I am so sick of this Chicago weather and ready for some warm! I'm a little worried it all looks "homemade" - which obviously it is, but I don't want it to come off that way haha. -
Hey ladies, I haven't posted in a while but I wad just reading through to catch up. I am right along with you guys who are feeling overwhelmed! I just accepted a new position at my job, which requires switching my days off and my weekends off (meaning I have to work half of next weekend and the whole following weekend so I can get onto the right schedule). We had planned around my days and weekends off and this really threw everything off, leaving me trying to reschedule dress fittings and our legal ceremony here. And the added stress of a new job while this close to the wedding! Eek! But I'm off this weekend so I'm heading out to accomplish as much today and tomorrow as possible (though I feel bad because it's my fiancé's bday tomorrow). Hopefully we can get a lot done

My wedding coordinator is so frustrating! We are trying to make our final payment and nothing seems to be easy. Lol. I have myself and 5 bridesmaids getting updos and my mom and 3 aunts getting regular hairstyling because they have short hair. On the real resorts website they are listed separately and it's a price difference of $30. I listed them this way on the final info sheet. I get the invoice back and she charged us for all updo. So I sent her a message explaining what we wanted and she responded with "where did you see a price of $40?". I responded with copying and pasting the salon pricing from the site and telling her that's what I did. No apology or anything she just says ok so you want 4 of those? So definitely look closely at your invoices as you get them and double check everything!! Can't wait to get in contact with our onsite coordinator! We met her when we did our site visit and we really liked her.

I got an answer yesterday. I had to send in what the drink was and she showed it to the chef. I gave her 3 options to see which they could do. She told me they could do any of them, just to let her know which we want and that there was no additional charge! I almost fell over when I read that! I think it's the only time I've seen the words, no additional charge from them...lol

Kelly, Sorry Marvin not margin! Yes he is from Maya Floral. He's been great to work with!

I was really hoping to be able to do an excursion but it doesn't look like we are going to be able to. We arrive on Sat May 4th along with my parents and son, FI parents and brother, and another couple (one of The groomsmen). From there I have 2 bridesmaids arriving Wed, the other 3 on Thursday. My fiancé has 2 groomsmen arriving Sat, one Wed, and one Thurs. We have guests arriving Tues, Wed, and Thurs. Our wedding is on Friday. We definitely didn't want to do an excursion that excluded anyone in our bridal party or our parents. With the last of our bridal party arriving the day before the wedding and the first one departing leaving the day after the wedding, we really couldn't find a day to do it! We are going to do a rehearsal dinner Thurs night once everyone has arrived so we had another event all together other than the wedding, but I was really hoping to do an excursion.

All of my final info is due today! Then she said she will draw up an invoice so we can make our final payment! I am still waiting to hear back from her about signature drinks, she said she was checking with the chef and would get back to me.

We get to use the credit once we are down there, and can't be used towards the wedding. We split our trip between the Gran Caribe and the Royal. The rooms at the Gran were nice. They are good sized and have nice balcony with an awesome hammock! The bathroom are marble and there was good counter space. The rooms at the Royal were great. They had nice upgrades throughout, including a hot tub. If anyone wants me to email them pics just pm with your email address.

We did a site visit and took the pictures ourselves. As far as I know there is no additional fee for having 2 choices of entree. We are using Ivan Luckie for photography. We are also using Margin for flowers. Both have been great to work with! I don't have any pictures of the Real Club, but I didn't see a bride on here who had pics from her reception here but I can't remember who it is. When I asked my coordinator about it I was told this is just a back up location for when it rains and it can't be booked!

Hey, I am a Boston bride and an RN as well! I am almost done with wedding planning though. Our wedding is May 10, 2013. 52 days away!

So my coordinator finally got back to me and said they can do 3 hair appointments and 3 make up appointments at once. She still didn't give me a time she thinks we should start with 10 hair appontments and 6 make up appointments. Any ideas?

Joanna, congrats! I'm so happy to hear that you had a great time. For music for the catholic ceremony, were you able to pick whatever you wanted or did it have to be religious type of music?
-
Yes the resort does require wristbands.
-
It definitely is a lot of appointments! Lol I asked Claudy about how many hair stylists and make up artists there would be, and what time she recommends starting. Still waiting on an answer, of course.....

I am tracking daily. At first I was meeting my points everyday, but lately I've been significantly under (like by atleast 7 points a day). I'm wondering if that is why so over the last couple days I've made an effort to meet my points.

What time is everyone thinking of starting hair and makeup? I will be getting my hair and make up done as will my mother. I have 5 bridesmaids who are all getting updos. I also have 3 aunts who will most likely be getting hair done as well. I honestly have no idea what time to start.

About cocktail hour, we have the Royal Catholic package, and I was told it only included sparkling wine for cocktail hr. If we wanted open bar it was an additional $5 per person. I was also told that cocktail hr included 3 cold appetizers, and if we wanted 3 hot appetizers in addition, I was also $5 per person.

We are going to be turning in our info soon and we are really debating about the videographer. At $500 for 1 hr of taping and a 30 min edited DVD I seems a little steep, but at the same time I don't want to regret not doing it. Are others doing videography or passing on it?
