  1. Hey there,

I have been working with Vanessa Jaimes (www.vanessajaimes.com).  She has been great.  My BM and I are going that morning to pick up the flowers from her since my wedding is at 5:30.  Pilar said it was fine if I brought the flowers myself on the resort (though I am sure they will charge some fee to put it on the table! Crazy) but anyway I am just going to do it early Friday morning, I think I will still come out cheaper using her and getting really nice flowers.  Her arrangements are great! I am waiting to get a price quote for what I asked for.  I will let you know when it comes.

I saw that he and Oscar teach workshops together online so I think we're definitely in good hands. Did you ever work it out with the resort on the outside florist?

  2. Hi there,

I have been really busy with life that the planning comes and goes :-)  Pilar was cool with Diego I just have to pay the fee for him to be on the resort that day.  As a matter of fact before I sent Diego the deposit I emailed Pilar to ask if she knew him and she said no but she went to his site and said his pictures were good :-).  He was actually recommended to me by the photographer you booked, who was not free my day.  So you will be fine!

    Take care,

    Charneice

    How is your planning coming?

Did Now Jade give you a problem hiring Diego Munoz as your photographer? I was speaking to our DW consultant last night and she got very stern with me about some resorts not allowing local photographers. But it seems like so many brides here go with local photographers outside the package. I sent an email to Pilar and am waiting for a response but our consultant kinda freaked me out because I've already signed a contract and made a deposit with a local. Please give me a heads up when you get a chance. I hope you can send me some good news.

I hope all is going gracefully for you.

  4. Hi there. Thanks! I am using Diego Munoz who was recommended by Gonzalo Nunez which so many brides rave about here but was booked for my day.  Diego has been great though and his pictures are awesome.  You can see them here. www.rivieramayaweddingphotographer.com.  I am still figuring out the flowers, but I am pretty sure I am using an outside florist.  The resort flowers are too expensive. The catch is I will have to go pick them up bc there is 350 charge for an outside florist to set up on the resort and I am not paying for that - but we will see.  The florist I have been working with has a website you can see here  http://www.vanessajaimes.com/.

Hope that helps.  I am still figuring out this gift bag thing for my guest. I can't believe that I am in within 90 days. Times flies.

  5. It depends on which package.  The Divine Dinner is 53 per person and the Eternity is 48.  There is also additional cost for the cocktail hour and the cake.  When you talk to the wedding planner she can help you figure out how to meet your budget if necessary.  I ran into the same problem but decided to just go with it. I am 19 people over right now. Pilar sent me 3 different quotes so that I could see my options for dinner, and I am going to mix up the dinner options to save a little money.  Hope that helps.

  6. Hi Ladies.  Sorry I have been out of the loop. I have been sick and drugged up for the last two weeks.  During that time Pilar actually called me but I missed it. Crazy.  Anyway I hope to link up with her soon.  Any other brides getting married the last week of July?  Here is the info on taking a day trip to the ruins.  Good Luck.

  7. Wow! Bookit.com is great! Thanks ladies - I have been looking all over the internet for tickets as I have folks coming in from everywhere.  Is anyone getting married the last week of July?  We will be there from July 26 - Aug. 2.  How far have you all gotten with planning those who have 4 months or less?  I have a dress (that took a lot but I found the perfect dress :-) and I have about 20 people booked, My TA has actually been great! I found her on line and was a little scared at first because she is in PA and I am in DC but it has been pretty cool,  and I have been talking to Pilar.  I am trying to swap stuff out of the package( I read the board I know it use to be possible and now not so much but it never hurts to ask as I have no use for hair and make up and my friends are photographers professionally, and I am thinking of hiring one)   She hasn't answered me so far, but has been averaging 3 days to 7 days to respond and I just asked on Tuesday.  My FI is vegan (he now eats fish occasionally but NO DAIRY at all)  so I am looking to have a cake shipped.  Nothing really fancy - A grooms cake, but something so that he can eat too :-). I am a part time vegan lol if that is possible.  No meat at all, some fish, and some cheese from time to time. No eggs. So this is going to really interesting as far as food goes.

I also got a group rate on some of the excursions and day trips to the ruins if anyone is interested, and I have rates for outside photographers for the trash the dress. Not sure if I am going to do that. I might order a 100 dress just for the pictures.

So much to do! So thankful for this site.  Take care ladies.

I know there is a thread for the NOW JADE, but there are about 143 pages so its a bit hard to follow for a newbie.....I was hoping to start a new thread for those who are getting married within the next few months.  I would LOVE to hear from all the ladies who have recently been married at the NOW JADE...the ins and outs, the good, the bad....Pictures or words of advice dealing with the hotel staff.

you can also email me at [email protected]

    Thank you soo much..

My wedding is Aug 4th, 2011

  10. Not sure yet. I have combed this site for ideas from other brides.  The best thing I found so far was this website http://www.minimus.biz/ for travel size things.  I am thinking things like power bars, some type of headache medicine, Pepto, Alka Seltzer. . .  I have a very rowdy bunch joining us, so they will need it.  We also have a lot of kids coming which is why I choose Now Jade in the first place so I have to think about something for them.

  11. Hello,

I am a Now Jade Bride too.  Our wedding is July 29, 2011.  I have the dress and. . . that is about it!  44 people have RSVP and booked, so it has become a little overwhelming. . . but I am excited!  I did find a florist in the area that seems cheaper than the resort on the other threads.  I am going to email her this afternoon.  Will post info if she responds.  I am also at a lost for wedding favors as I am not interested in giving away gifts that folks won't use.  Right now I am considering a hangover kit, a beach towel. Any help/ideas would greatly be appreciated.  This site can really be a lot so I am happy to see the new thread!

    Take Care,

    Charneice
