  1. Thank you for the information!!! You said that you had a sand ceremony - did the judge conduct this or did you have a guest do it? I have seen different wording online, but didn't know if the judge would do that portion of the ceremony or if we would have to ask somebody .
  2. After reading these posts - I am so glad that my fiance and I have chosen the Iberostar to have our wedding at - thank you to all of you that have posted (especially brides that have just returned)!! Our big day is 4.11.11 - less than three weeks away. We are staying at the Lindo but the wedding is at the Del Mar. Ironically, we have booked DJDoormix - I am so glad that he was the way we decided to go after reading these blogs. We are going with the basic package - while the Dream would be nice, some of the extras that it included we didn't need. We are paying extra to have a private reception at the open air restaurant and mariachi band during the ceremony - the cost will still be around $1200 less to do the basic package. Out of curiosity, those of you that recently returned, what was the ceremony like? I know that in Mexico it is a legal ceremony that a judge presides over --- but do they personalize it in any way? I was told that I could have people read poems or scriptures or have a sand ceremony or something, but am not sure how that would fit in. I would really appreciate input as I'm not sure if I should include any of those things. I have asked Karla for details on the ceremony but I don't think that she understands what I am asking . P.S. I agree that Karla is awesome - I have given her all kinds of pictures and asked all kinds of questions and (other than that listed above) she has answered right away and has stated that she could accommodate my requests.
  3. Thanks for the info both of you!! I will hopefully have my invites done by the first of the year and ask for replies by the middle of February. I do know about the sale - I have been working with a great travel agent (however, I went through 4 before finding her). She called and told me about the sale and told me that she was going to try to get those that already booked the sale price - even if they didn't purchase the insurance. Some guests are paying $400 less than what they booked for, which is awesome!!! Karla has been great - she responded to my email right away and sent me pictures of the restaurant without me even asking!! Anyways, thank you all for your help!!
  4. I wanted to thank you again for the info - I have now changed my venue from the Lindo to the Del Mar. Reyna sent me a picture of the open air restaraunt - and it is perfect. It is just what we were picturing. I feel a ton better because I was very uneasy about not having a private restaraunt for the reception (as we will probably have close to 50 guests). I finally feel like I have a bit of a handle on things! If you don't mind me asking, how early did you mail out your invites? I sent out STD at the begining of August - of course a few booked trips once they received those, however, there are some that will wait until the last minute. I would think that I will need RSVPs a bit earlier than a traditional wedding and was thinking of sending them out at the begining of January (my wedding is April 11, 2011).
  5. Lindobride14, Thank you for the information! You stated that you changed your reception from the Lindo to the Del Mar - did you do this after you already put a deposit at the Lindo? From what I have been readind, the Del Mar offers more of what I am looking for in terms of receptions. Are there any semi-open air options for receptions/dinner at the Lindo? I guess I am just very confused at what I should be asking Mayra exactly and if I change the reception venue to Del Mar - I'm worried that my guests will be bothered that they are staying at the Lindo.
  6. Hi, I am getting married on 4/11/11 at the Lindo. I, like many others, am not have an AHR - so it is important for me to have a reception after the wedding that is fun and memorable for my guests as well as my fiance and I. I am a bit worried about locations of where the reception can be at the Lindo. Mayra has sent me pictures of the beach and gazibo options - both of which look beautiful. You stated that they will serve dinner on the beach and at the gazebo? It has to be buffet though? What type of food did they offer for the buffet? Also, she also sent me options for DJs. One was from the resort, however, she sent me some others that they use as well. Do you know anything about DJs? Any information that you have would be helpful!!!
