  1. Hi ladies, thanks so much for the replies Although Wailea sounds beautiful, I hear that Kaanapali area has more affordable options to stay at no? Any recommendations for Wailea? Larisa, that would be amazing if you could send me the link to the website you're working on! Any tips at all would be so great! We are in the very preliminary planning stages but have a goal to have hopefully things figured out by end of May eek!! Any group activity ideas would be so hopeful as we would like to plan some exursions for everyone! I've contacted a few wedding planners so far and fees tend to range from $1000 to $3000!! What is Kara your wedding planner fees like? Have a great evening, thanks again so much for the feedback! Lees
  2. Hi Larissa, thanks so much for the reply! It sounds like Kaanapali area would probably be best for us all to stay! We are still undecided if we are going to have our wedding in Oahu or Maui but hoping to make our decision soon ahhh! I love the idea of going somewhere new but my fiance is still worried Maui will be too dead and quiet! Ha its not like were party animals but we want to make sure theres a lot to do for our guests in the day and night time! Another concern of ours is how everyone gets around.Did you find it easy to get to Lahaina from Kaanapali or does everyone need to rent a car? One advantage for Waikiki is everything is right there, no need to hire a car right! Do you have any suggestions for places to stay in Kaanapali? We want to pick a hotel that will suit many budgets. A middle of the road hotel that has pool service a restaurant and on the beach! Sort of like the Outrigger Waikiki. Does anything like that exist in Kaanapali? I think the entry price for some of the fancier hotels ( hyatt etc) would be too expensive for some of our guests! Sorry for the questions overload, its so hard when weve never been to Maui! Ps Who's your wedding planner? Would you recommend? Thanks again for the reply, Lees
  3. Hi ladies! My fiance and I have been to the island of Oahu and loved it! We stayed in Waikiki and had a blast! Now we are deciding on having our wedding next year in Hawaii and are thinking Maui! We are aware that Maui is way mellower and no Waikiki but we are looking to stay in a hotel with somewhat of a bit of action at night! Does that exist in Maui? Any recommendations on the best location to stay? I hear Lahaina or Kaanapali? Are there any hotels that are reasonably priced with a bit of a pool scene ( drink service, nice atmosphere), and perhaps a hotel with a bar/pub or close to some evening action that our wedding group would enjoy? Thanks lots for any replies! Lees
  4. LilyRose thank you soooo much for the reply;) I really appreciate your advice;)) You are right, we have to stop trying to please everyone and figure out what we want to do! Haha we have even contemplated eloping as well but I think down the road I would regret not having my parents and closest friends there. At this point we've narrowed down our destinations to St Lucia ( always wanted to go there), Hawaii( this is where we got engaged), or a Caribean cruise( we love cruises and could honeymoon in St Lucia afterwards). Mexico is on the list but I think our last choice.Mexico would be so fun and amazing im sure but I just feel like everyone does Mexico and we want to be different eek! I hope I'm not alone in feeling WAY overwelmed by the whole wedding planning process! I love planning holidays and nights out but holy this is one undertaking! I'm going to PM you for your TA's info! Thanks again;)
  5. Hi Lily Rose, congratulations on your up coming wedding!!! I am also from Vancouver and in the beginning stages of planning our destination wedding for next Feb or March 2012! We actually just got engaged in Hawaii three weeks ago! We would love to go to St Lucia for our wedding but are concerned with the price for our guests. It just seems like it would be more affordable if we did Mexico as their are charter and direct flights from out west but we want something different. Were you faced with the same dilema? Any advice would be much appreciated, I'm feeling so overwhelmed just trying to pick a location thats going to please everyone! Which travel agent are you working with? Would you recommend them? Any feedback would be most helpful! Thanks so much;)
  6. Hi there! My fiance and I recently got engaged in Waikiki and we would like to possibly have our wedding in Hawaii next March 2012! We have both been to Oahu and loved it but friends are suggesting we chose Maui! We like the idea of Waikiki because there are many options for things to do for our guests, nightlife and a variety of accomodations to meet everyones budgets. My question is? What is Maui like? Is it really sleepy? Is there anything to do in the evening? Do you think a wedding will be more beautiful in Maui? Any feedback would be so appreciated Thanks so much!!!
  7. Hi there! We were just at Paradise Cove two weeks ago for their luah. Everyone took their seats at around 645ish just after the last hukilau activity and as the sun was setting. I remember as the sun set was amazing and the staff were telling me to take my seat as I was snapping a million photos! Dinner begain around 7 just after the sun set. Hope that helps!
  8. Hi Tropic Lover ( love the nickname lol)! Thank you so much for replying, yes we live in Vancouver and congratulations to you too! Thanks for the hotel recommendation, I also heard that Baha Principe hotels are good too, have you heard anything? Have you reached out to any travel agents yet? I'm a bit hesitant to pick just any travel agent right away as my cousin has been planning her wedding in PV Mexico and her travel agent quoted everyone nearly $500 more than we could find for the same deal online! Yikes, these are the days you wished you had a friend in the business! Have you found a travel agent that you would recommend in Vancouver? Thanks and good luck to you too!
  9. My fiance and I just got engaged last weekend and this is my first official post on this site!!)) We are considering a wedding in the Mayan or Cancun area for next year, possibily Feb or March and are desperately seeking advice on which resorts may fit what we are looking for since neither of us have been to the area before!! We're not sure if children would be coming so at this point we are open to suggestions for both adult only resorts and child friendly ones too! We are looking for an all-inclusive resort that has lots of activities available for guests, fun pools, nightlife ( disco etc suitable for adults in their 30's up), an excellent swimable beach, good variety of restaurants and excellent service! As for the wedding, we are looking to have the ceremony on the beach followed by reception for approximately 40 guests and a great party! Obviously looking for a hotel that really makes an effort to make the wedding day amazing! We don't even know where to begin, so hopefully someone out there may be able to help with suggestions? Appreciate all your replies;)
