  1. Our marriage certificate came in about 2 weeks after we got home.
  2. Here is what we gave to our guests, Contigo travel mugs with a laser engraving. They work great for swimming since they are vacuum sealed and keep your drinks ice cold in the hot sun.
  3. Well we were married on the 17th but not without some hiccups. The venue was changed to the Spa since rain was in the forecast and it did rain pretty heavily throughout the day. The Spa was still a great location, pictures are here http://www.sundberg.ca/photos . After all of my complaining they gave me the speaker system and microphone for the Reception, I brought my ipod and had my laptop so people could pick whatever music they wanted and just played some slow music during dinner. Some people also provided their own MP3 players which made the music selection awesome. We paid an extra $850 for flowers (this included the table centerpieces @$35 / table), by the pictures you sure couldn't tell. They tried to charge us $240 for an upgraded bouquet that was already priced at $90 from Tia florists (talk about a markup). They missed some corsages and actually gave us a makeshift corsage that the just pulled out of the flower arrangement . After some complaining we managed to get a whole $35 back. Vincent the minister was awesome, you will have a memorable ceremony with him. Make sure that you have everything that you requested when you meet with the wedding planner and confirm it when you meet with her. The GP is a great resort, I'm not sure that I would recommend having your wedding there with all of the extra costs (chairs and dinner) but the resort is amazing. Service could be improved, but we were there during a lull in the season. The food and friendliness of the staff was amazing. Hang out at the Sunset Cove and stuff yourself with the jerk chicken you wont be disappointed. If you have an issue with anything make sure you let someone know, we continually had bars running out of alcohol which is unacceptable for an all inclusive.
  4. Humm, we wanted to have our ceremony at 2pm but they said it was already booked, so we were forced to do it at 12pm since we thought 4pm would be a little too close to evening for pictures. We were a little cross with our travel agent since she told us that there was no rush to book the wedding back in November 2009. So with those numbers I think they do at least 3 a day.
  5. We are heading to the GP on Saturday and are to be married on Wednesday the 17th. We are on our 3rd wedding planner!!! A week and a half ago we were back at square one having to send in all of our documentation, meal preferences, etc because they lost all of our information!!! Now this is what bugs me. $2k for the wedding ceremony (Ruby Package), $960 to setup chairs for 46 extra people for the ceremony, and and extra $2500 for dinner and the reception hall and they lose all of our information and the communication between the wedding planner and us is non-existent. We accepted the costs of the dinner but charging and extra $20/pp to setup some chairs is simply outrageous. I called a place in Montego and they would deliver the chairs and pick them up for $84 / us. All said and done we are bringing about $90k in revenue to the resort and this is how we are treated. I know we will have a good time while we are there and we are expecting that the actual wedding ceremony will be a gong show, but I will let everyone know how it turns out and how they are trying to overcharge on everything with terrible service and unacceptable communication.
  6. I was just wondering if anyone has decided not to get extra chairs at the ceremony. We have over 40 people attending and we would like to have the reception at the gazebo but think $20pp for extra chairs is a bit unreasonable seeing as we are already paying $45/pp for the reception. Any thoughts?

Thanks for all the great tips and info. We are getting married on the 17th of November at the GP. Originally we were only expecting around 30 - 35 guests but the number is now over 50 with more people expressing interest. Due to the extra charges for the ceremony and reception we have started looking into offsite options. The resort looks amazing and we are looking forward to a great week. We just might see you there.
