Altered to fit my measurements 32/26/38. 3. @cricket2168: You can pick from any bouquet that you got a picture of from your WC.  You only pay that VIP price if you are putting together the wedding yourself as opposed to selecting a package.  I picked my bouquet once we were at the Dreams and met with our WC...seemed like there were over 20 in the book she had, but they can also mix and match a bit too.  They are pretty flexible with the bouquets...unless you want a specific flower that has a higher cost.  I just told our WC that our main wedding color was orange, so I wanted a mix of orange and ivory flowers and I pointed at one flower in particular in the book. When she delivered the bouquet to me, I thought it was beautiful!

  4. Our pictures arrived yesterday! Our photographers were Tony & Alex with Juan Navarro Photograhpy.  I posted some in an album under my profile on here if ya wanna check them out.  We think they did an amazing job considering there was a windstorm at the time of our pictures. But that ended up working out in our favor...I really wanted some pics on the pier there but there are usually tour boats parked alongside the pier all day, but because of the high winds all tours were cancelled so no boats!

Here are a few teaser pics!

  5. If you use the photography provided in the Ultimate package I believe you will get Juan Navarro photography.  We did the Ultimate Package, but our photographers were 2 of his associates that work for him.  I'm guessing that your WC may have stated that it is $1200 extra if you want to guarantee that you get Juan himself.  The package includes ceremony photography as well as about an hour of shots around the resort of just you and your groom afterwards. You get to choose 50 from all the shots they take to put in the album...and they take ALOT...they took over 900 during our ceremony and bride/groom shots afterwards!

  6. I wanted to add something that I forgot to post in my review...I'll go back an add this in.  We had one child at our wedding and the 3 children's menu options were a burger, chicken fingers or mac 'n cheese.  Our nephew wanted the mac 'n cheese, but don't order this.  Go for the burger or chicken fingers instead.  The mac 'n cheese was literally a huge plate of penne pasta covered with nacho cheese, the kind you get on nachos at a baseball game...not so good.  Our 3 yr old nephew is not finicky so he was actually eating some of the fish and shrimp that were on his parents plates and didn't really touch the mac 'n cheese.

  7. Yes, it is pretty breezy up there.  During our WC meeting, we opted out of the corsages, so she asked if we wanted aisle petals instead, but I asked her "won't they just blow away?"  She looked at me and smiled and nodded "yes".  As for the carpet, the red one is included, or you can pay $80 for a white one (likely to pay the cleaning fee).  The carpet is pretty heavy so I don't think it will blow away.  We just decided we didn't want a carpet and saved the $80 because we didn't want the red one either  :)

And as for the sound system...you definitely need it during the ceremony..unless you plan to yell.  :)  We had a small group too, only 23 of us, and there was no way our guests would've heard anything without it.

  8. I posted my review!!!  I added in some pics I have...we haven't gotten our professional pics yet, those will be arriving via FedEx in the next week or two I believe.  And our friends/family took so many pics they are putting them on cd's but have to mail them out to us.  I didn't wanna wait weeks to post a review, so I used the pics I had.  Don't have wedding ceremony or reception shots yet, but I posted the stuff you guys wanna see like hair/make-up pics, centerpieces & bouquet and some extras!

    ENJOY!!!

  9. @KWally24: There is a bathroom super close to the Himitsu beach.  The Himitsu restaurant is right there and you can walk in and use the restrooms there, would be a 5 second walk from the beach.  I believe the closest bathrooms to the beach on the other side are near the Seaside Grill restaurant on that side...would be about a 30 sec walk I think.

@briannarae23: I got 36 of those particular shot glasses for about $160 including shipping. Price depends on the particular glass you choose, if you add color, and there was a small charge for a template set-up.  Also, the more glasses you order, the cheaper it gets per glass.  I actually only needed 23 shot glasses, but it was cheaper to order 36.  You can dink around on their website and find out the total cost before placing the order.

And congrats RachelandChris2011!!!  Great pic! Your wedding was just 5 days after ours!

  10. @coones: snacks in your luggage may get taken when you go through customs.  I don't know all the rules for sure, but I'm sure you could do a Google search online about what is or is not allowed when passing through Mexican Customs.

@briannarae23: beer at the bars was always served in a cup/glass from what I remember.  The only bottles of beer I remember at the resort are in the mini-fridge in each room.  It is stocked with bottles of Corona, but they are small bottles, not standard size.  They actually say "Coronita" on the bottle for "small Corona.  For our wedding favor, we did customized shot glasses from www.discountmugs.com ... they were a huge hit!

  11. Hola fellow Allure 8705 brides...just wanted to let you know that the dress photographed beautifully in the professional pics! We got an email from the Juan Navarro team yesterday and we are sifting through the over 900 pics they took to pic the 50 we want in the album we get with the Ultimate Wedding Package at Dreams.  I also want to thank all the previous Dreams Cancun/Juan Navarro brides for the info on getting a cd of all the pictures from them.  All the previous brides said they would offer a cd for $400-$500, but that everybody got them down to $300.  Well, they did in fact offer me $400, I countered with $300 and they accepted!  Thanks ladies for the tip!

As for those of you with Allure 8705 thinking about altering it to a sweetheart neckline..I have attached a pic that a friend took on her phone at the reception that shows the neckline so you can get an idea of how it looks.  I thought it made a world of difference in the appearance of the dress!

@clgriffi7: As for the bathroom issue... I had the alterations dept leave just a hint of room in the hip allowing me to pull the dress up just a bit to be able to sit down for dinner and that also allowed me to shift the dress up enough to use the restroom without having to take the whole thing off. I just needed 2 of my gals to come with me and hold all the ruffles, but it can totally be done...if you're not too shy, haha!  :)

    Bride.jpg

  12. @clgriffi7: Actually, I didn't find the dress to be too hot at all! It was one of the more lightweight dresses I tried on when dress shopping and with the breeziness at the gazebo I wasn't sweating or too hot at all...well, I guess I wasn't because there was a windstorm going on during our ceremony and photos, but the wind died down for the reception and I never felt too hot in that dress while dancing so I'm sure you'll have no overheating/oversweating problems as well :)

And...I got an email from our photographers (Tony and Alex w/ Juan Navarro Photography) today with our proofs to pick from..I cannot believe how many great pics they got for having to deal with the windstorm during our ceremony and pictures, but they got some really great shots.  My hubby's hair looks a little funny is some shots blowing around..but my hair really didn't move!!!  Much thanks to the Dreams Spa/Salon!

  13. @clgriffi7...We are indeed dress twins! Allure 8705!  I can't wait to see how it looks in the professional pics too!  I did have some alterations to it...I had it made with a sweetheart neckline and I also had them remove those sqaurish shaped petals on the underside of the flower on the hip.

@coones...I would try pack everything.  I brought my dress as a carry-on on the plane, if you fold it in half, it fits in the overhead compartment with no problems.  Any extra stuff I'd try pack in your luggage or give some to friends and family to try pack if you have too much.  We did a legal marriage ceremony and I had to mail copies of our birth certificates and passports to our wedding coordinator a month before our wedding.  I mailed the documents via USPS International Express mail, they should've arrived in 5-8 business days, but they didn't get there until 3 weeks later!  Anything you ship internationally has to go through customs and they have some rules about what can be shipped, so if they see something they don't allow, your package may not make it, or it may get there too late for your wedding!

Once my review is posted, I put a message on here about how to find it on this site!

  14. Hey Ladies,

I pretty much have my review all typed up..I'm just waiting to get some pics from a friend of mine that I can add to it.  We stuck with the package and just had the photographer cover the ceremony and our pics afterwards.  A friend of mine had acces to a fancy camera so I had her come take some "getting ready" shots as well as take a ton of pics during our reception.  I also told her to get pics of the reception area, the table settings, etc so I coud put them in my review.  She is sifting through the hundreds of pics she took and is gonna put them all on a disc for me, so I'm just waiting to get that from her.  But another friend of ours snapped a quick pic of us on her phone and sent it to me...so here's a preview!!!  And yes, I had my hair/make-up done at the spa and it was fabulous! I cover that fully in my review...coming soon!

  15. For those of you wondering if there is a place to hang lanterns and such, if you have your reception on the terrace, you can hang stuff.  There is an overhang above the terrace that I saw them hanging decor from for another wedding during our stay.  You can also put the lanterns on the ground.  We didn't purchase lanterns for our wedding, but when we came out onto the terrace for our reception, Cecilia had thrown in some extra decor for us free of charge and she placed some of the round paper lantern things around the floor. They were held down with a water bottle filled with sand on the inside. She put clusters of them around the perimeter of the terrace so they were not in the way but looked pretty nice out out there.

I'm working on my review from our 01/22/11 wedding...and I've got some great tips and extras that I haven't seen other brides post about.  I'll try get it on here this weekend or early next week!

  16. @clgriffi7..on the dinner, depending on the size of your group, you may not necessarily need to organize an official rehearsal dinner.  Many of our family members wanted us to all do dinner together several nights and the restaurants were very accomodating when we all just showed up.  One night, there was 14 of us that hit Oceana, the seafood restaurant, and they just put all of us at tables next to each other. Another night there were 10 of us that went to Himitsu, the Japanese restaurant, and they quickly pushed tables together and seated us all together.  Again, depending on the size of your group, a planned dinner may not be needed in order to "get everyone together". We had PLENTY of time with our family and friends during our stay from meals, to gathering at the Rendezvous lobby bar nightly to just hanging out on the beach all day together.

  17. I have to add this side note that I didn't put in my last post.  We had our ceremony at noon (primarily because we thought we came all this way for a beautiful oceanside destination wedding and wanted it to be light out during our reception.  We wanted us and our guests to be able to see the beautiful views during the entire wedding, not see darkness)  :)

Now our photographer was Alex with Juan Navarro Photography...and I know they post pics on their blog...so I wanted to let you know that I have no idea how the pics will turn out.  Our entire 10 days here have been pretty darn good weather-wise. But the morning of our wedding it was soooooooo windy...but NO RAIN!!! yay!!!  Nobody was out on the beaches here at the resort, it was a red flag day for the ocean rating.  Right before our ceremony started I saw that one chair kept blowing over at the gazebo before that guest took their seat.  Our ceremony was pretty windy as well as during our pics.  Alex did show me a pic in his viewer on his camera at one point and it was amazing, but I'm sure he got tons of shot with a little bit of my bangs blowing in my face.  But kudos to Mareya at the spa because except for the few shorter bangs I have that aren't long enough to clip to the side, my hair DID NOT MOVE!  :)  We had our reception on the terrace (amazing by the way!), and during our pics I figured I'd have to tell Cecilia to move our dinner inside, but we got back to our group and suddenly the wind died down and the weather was absolutely perfect!  I actually have zero regrets or ill feelings about the wind...I'm pretty excited about the pics.  I had him take some pics on the pier that is here (which was actually closed due to the windstorm, but he said we could do go out for a few minutes and try get something good). I think the stormy weather will possibly provide some great shots because the normally gentle ocean here at Dreams was so choppy!  The weather is always unpredictable no matter where you have your outdoor wedding  :)

  18. Hola ladies!

It is the morning after our wedding day and I just had to get on here and post! I know every bride says it, but we seriously had the most amazing, fun and perfect wedding here are Dreams Cancun!!!  Everyone was coming up to us telling us that is was the best wedding they have ever been to, even better than their own! haha! To all of you ladies...we all say it...DON'T STRESS, your wedding here will be amazing! During our meeting, I told our wedding coordinator, Cecilia, that we're very easy going and laid back when it comes to wedding planning and all the details.  She said to me that so many brides get so stressed out about the wedding and end up not have any fun during their vacation here.  She said "we do this all the time...let us handle everything for you."  So do not get stressed when you don't get an email back in weeks.  When it is a few weeks until your wedding date, that is when they really start getting everything set for you. I will get working on our review when we get home, and since we leave Dreams tomorrow, we will have to wait for our pictures to arrive via FedEx, so it may take a week or 2 for me to get some on here, but I should be getting pics that our friends/family took very soon!

And to clgriffi7:  It is always breezy/windy at the gazebo, so yes, fans are absolutely not necessary.  And we have stayed at Dreams twice now and have never had a problem with bugs here at the resort.  No bug spray needed.  I would only bring some in case it was needed in the jungle if you do one of the zip-line tours here...but we did one here during our last visit and had no problems with bugs there either.

    Debbie  :)
