  1. You won't be able to hang lanterns on Himitsu terrace there isn't anything to hang the lanterns on.  You can hang them on the Bordeaux terrace however.

This is the best picture I have of the himitsu terrace, so you can see what you have to work with.

I'm sorry it's so big! I don't know how to make it smaller :(

  2. I know there was a bride on here that had a small guests list as well and just had dinner in one of the a la cartes.  I can't say for certain but I am pretty sure you won't have a private area of the resteraunt or the terrace unless you are having a private dinner.  I don't know if they can accomodate 20 guests in one of the a la carts. Also if you are having your dinner in the resteraunt there is No MUSIC No DANCING No anything. We had a private reception but it rained so we ended up in the Oceana and we couldn't Have any MUSIC or anything. They didn't even give us an additional table for a guest book or the cake.  If you are worried about any of those things i would suggest a private reception if not go for one of the a la carts just know they may not be able to seat your entire party.

Anyway, here is my dilemma. We are getting married on 11/4/11 at Dreams PC. As of right now we will only be having 8 guests. At most we will have 20 but I really don't see that happening. We are having a large AHR so it's not a big deal. We originally were planning on having approx. 20-30 guests and were going to go with the Ultimate Wedding Package. Now that it's looking like our guest list is shrinking considerably we are thinking about just going with the complimentary Wedding in Paradise Package. That being said, has anyone had or is going to have just a dinner with their guests at one of the restaurants after the ceremony instead of going w/one of the Dinner reception packages? If you have done one or looked into it, do you know if you can still have it in a private area of the restaurant or on the terrace? If so, do you know if there is a fee for this? Also, I have one more question. For any of you that have or will be using Dreams Photography/Videography do you know what the fee would be just for the 30 minute video of the ceremony? I can't seem to find individual fees on the website, only packages. Thanks for your help!

  3. The WC told us the week before we left when and where to meet her.  If this doesn't happen you will get a letter from her in your room.

I personally think the easiest way to pay is your credit card.  Watch YOUR BILL ours was wrong 3 seperate times and still wasn't right at the time of check out

The only person we tipped was the wedding co-ordinator and I only tipped $50.00 I personally didn't like her AT ALL but she was a stand in for Yessica

The wedding coordinator sets up the sound system and the ipod you don't have to worry about that.

My June 15th wedding date is fast approaching.  Trying to not think about it too much but everyone seems to be doing a countdown on our behalf.  Needless to say, I'm starting to get the jitters, and just because it's a destination wedding, it doesn't mean you're not moved by the same worries of things going as planned.  I'm excited, anxious, worried,.... You get the drift.  Please help me reduce some stress by answering these questions for me:

When and how does the WC set an appointment to meet you once you've arrived at the resort?

What is the best and convenient way to pay for the wedding (cash, credit) - we want to avoid bringing too much cash with the risk of losing it and whatnot-?

Who should get tipped after the wedding -I noticed gratuities are added to the package prices-?

How much should the WC get for tip?

Do they provide the wires to hook the ipod to their sound system - if not, will I have to bring my own?

    Phew!

    I think that's it.

  4. Most of our guests booked in August for our February wedding there was a couple of weeks where prices really dropped and most people booked then.  I kept my eye on the prices pretty much everyday and would bug people over facebook or email or through our website to let people know what the prices were and what site was the best to book with. Most people are fully capable of finding the best prices all on their own and will end up booking on their own anyways. Save yourself the hassle of a TA when most the time they are the highest prices rather then the lowest.

  5. I was married there in February and I decided on the resort just based on the website and it was the best choice I made.  The resort is gorgeous and you will not be disappointed with the choice at all.  I searched around for a TA to help my guests secure the best possible price and all the TA's gave me prices that were at least $400.00 more then my guests could find online by themselves So I just said forget it and let my guests book as they wished.  I think the most expensive price was 1800 and that was a single person who booked last minute.  No one else in my party paid more then $1500/person for 7 days and all of my guests had an amazing time.  We never had an issue with mosquitos or seaweed but I mean your on the beach and there is seaweed in the sea so it wouldn't suprise me if you were to find some.  The resort staff racks the beach every morning and it always look beautiful. Believe me when I say that you will have an AMAZING time and forget all about the stress the second you step foot in the DR.

  6. This is only true if all rooms are booked through Dreams themselves.  All my guests booked through different travel companies and we have 14 rooms in total and didn't get any free rooms at all. You might want to check with the resort before telling guests about this because It isn't exactly true. When I questioned the resort about this they told me I needed 15 rooms booked before getting one free because not everyone booked through the same person.

  7. Sherri yours pictures look awesome and your Mugs look super familiar.. I saw you on one of the days you were there, I think maybe the friday, your group was sitting behind my group at the pool.  I was down there from the 13th-20th and got married on the 17th (the one day it rained all evening : ( .)

I hear you about the towels it was next to impossible some days to get a towel.

  8. I think the thing that sucks most about it raining is you don't get the choice of what happens next.  The wedding coordinator makes the call for you, they have a ballroom at the resort and that wasn't even offered to us.  I guess whoever is closer to the ballroom on that day gets it maybe.

Besides the rain, your pictures look lovely and it still looks like you were able to make the best of the situation.

I was noticing your lanterns, did you tie ribbons to them that matched the colour of the lantern?

    Thanks,

    J

  9. They set the Oceana up with 3 tables of 10.  We didn't have a table for the cake or the guestbook so I had to scamble around after to try and get my guests to sign the guestbook which was a wedding tree so I actually had to get their thumbprints.  The Oceana is not private we had people at the table next to us which also means no music or dancing.  This was a huge bummer to me because I worked sooo hard on my playlists. The transition was semi smooth I wouldn't say overly quick but it was fast enough I guess. My guests were standing waiting for them to finish the set up.  My bridesmaids put the lanterns I had on the chair backs which was nice and the wedding coordinator put my table lanterns on, other then that she didn't do alot.  We were at the back of the restraunt so we only had people on one side of us.

How did it look inside the Oceana? Was it fully private or were others in the restaurant aswell? Have any photos? Btw I loved the photo with u and dragging the lanterns soooo cute : )

  11. Just a couple of our pictures from the wedding. The last is me sad because I couldn't use the lanterns on the terrace due to the rain.  We also didn't get any beach pictures because of the rain but hubby and I put on some nice clothes and took some pictures the day before we left, I didn't feel like putting my rain soaked dress back on after the wedding.

  12. Well ladies we are back from a WONDERFUL week at Dreams.  All in all the week went very smooth minus the rain shower that washed away my wedding reception.  The ceremony went off without a hitch but just as we were starting our pictures the rain started coming down.  We were supposed to be on the Bordeaux Terrace but we got moved into the oceana.  My original wedding planner was Yessica but something happened with her baby so she is off for awhile and a girl named Gara took over.  We also had a few issues at check out regarding the bill but all was solved in the end. Ladies you will not be disappointed with your choice to have your wedding at Dreams.  All my guests had a wonderful time and can't wait to go back again

  13. Ok ladies, So this girl messaged me on facebook asking me a bunch of questions about my wedding at Dreams and she told me that when you have a reception on the Bordeaux Terrace that the reception isn't private and the terrace is open to guests.  Was anyone else told this ? I have never been told that I might have to share my private reception with other guests.

  14. We leave in a week today and I am soo excited.  I am in the final stretch of getting everything ready to go.  I have myself and my daughter all packed up, I tell you packing for an infant for one week is not an easy task.  I have been going over all my lists to make sure I don't forget anything.  I think this is the more stressful part of all of it. How is everyones planning going ?
