  1. I got married on Smathers Beach - I liked it, even though it was very busy that day, several weddings were going on at the time - we felt like we were the only ones there and the sunset was gorgeous. I only had 16 people in my party, so we didn't do the traditional big reception - we took everyone out for dinner after the ceremony at The Harbourview Cafe located in the Pier House Resort - they do a a great job for small weddings. They had me pick out several dinner options for my guests to choose from, made us personalized menus, we booked a private area, and ended up having a whole dining room to ourselves. It was right on the water, we saw sailboats passing by, it was very nice, as was the hotel itself. You only pay regular menu prices and tip - so it saved us so much money. Food was fancy and delicious, everyone raved about it. They also let me set up favors and had a cake cutting service we didn't use. Instead we went back to the hotel, cut the cake out by the pool bar (Cakes by Karol, highly recommended also) had champagne, the older (and younger) guests went back to their rooms. I changed into a shorter white dress, and we partied on Duval all night.
  2. I used weddings to go! and it was one of the best decision I made! I thought 90% of my pics came out great, we love them, everyone loves them - we lucked out with a great sunset so that helped. My day was exactly what I wanted. Flowers were gorgeous, everything was so easy and stress free, they really did help me plan my wedding and give me reception suggestions and always got back to me right away. My pics are in their online website, 11/21/09 Mike and Tasha Really can't beat the price either for what you get. I would recommend them.
  3. I just got married in Key West and we stayed at the Southernmost Hotel and witnessed several weddings at their beach wedding location. I'd say it looks more expensive than its worth. Its very public - everyone eating at the cafe and using the pool, beach will be able to see the whole ceremony. We looked into it but could not believe the prices they wanted. I was glad we could not afford it once I saw the set up.
  4. I second the Pier House over the Marriot - you want to be close to Duval St - it made all the difference for us. The other end of the island is totally different. I had my reception dinner at the Harbourview Cafe in the Pier House, it is absolutely gorgeous there. Everyone couldn't afford to stay there so we stayed at the Southernmost Hotel on the opposite end of Duval and was so happy with it. We are already planning a trip back there for our one year anniversary. It was the perfect price and location for us to stay. If I had the money I would go with the Pier House for the wedding - how many guests are you planning?
