  2. i cant manage to get pics up-the files are too large and if i crop them you will miss the picture-im not great on computers!
  3. I will try and get some pics up for you, we had our wedding dinner in the palma real alacarte which is the best one and is air conditioned!!! They do a special menu for you too which is nice as normally its the same menu for your 1 booking per week! We didnt do a first dance in the palma real but sort of attempted a dance just after the ceremony for the photographer! Im sure you will enjoy it!
  4. Well, had a great 2 weeks at the blau with our wedding in the middle of it all-great hotel, good food, weather was hot and humid (almost unbearable) with some tropical storms too! The actuall ceremony was simple and quick but thats all we wanted-if you want a grand ceremony then this isnt for you! We wanted ours in the gardens but rain was on and off that day so had it indoors which later we was glad off! The hotel will do anything for you that they can and things went pretty much as good as it could have! We did manage to get pictures in the grounds and on the beach which look really good-we got their photographer who at times seemed a little clueless and had to be prompted but his gear was good and the photos really good-we opted to pay 200 pesos and get the dvd with all the pics on it! There was 19 of us in our party and all had a good time but a couple did have things go missing from their rooms ie babies nappies and a hat so be carefull about that! Overall it was great and if your like us who want a wedding with out the pomp and ceremony but a different type of wedding that is enjoyable for 2 weeks and not just one day then this is for you!
  5. 2 WEEKS TO GO!!! Hope the rain eases off a bit
  6. We have insurance through our bank, although not sure it covers wedding costs-probably not, also a lot of insurers will not pay on "act of god" incidents and so the only back up is the abta protection which states the travel company must either re book your holiday or refund you-but neither will help us unless its a very quick re book,ie the following week otherwise the wedding cannot go ahead due to the documents falling outside the 6 month limt!
  7. We are contacting the translators tomorrow regarding the documents, they cost £460 to do and hope it wont cost the same just to extend the date!! The actual wedding i guess can be re arranged but there are 18 of us going so its going to be a big problem,if any delay is only a day or so we might be ok-any longer annd its a cancellation i think! Going to ring the travel agents tomorrow too but they will probably say just wait and see what happens. A back up plan would be good but at this moment cannot think of one!
  8. We are due to go to the blau varadero on 25th june and get married on the 2nd july,my documents all sorted but the 6 month limit is july 21st-now,if the ash cloud delays us i guess we have to re apply for the translated documents again otherwise we cannot get married! Some friends of ours were sat on the plane this morning going to mauritius when it got cancelled and the bride and groom in tears! Has anybody here had any similar thing happened annd is it possible to have a back up plan of any kind?
  9. Thanks, they have replied to a different email address-it seems the one we used originally wasnt gettting through!!
  10. ok,we have now sent about 10 emails to the blau and not had one reply,we have sent to sales, sales manager and reservations-has anyone had any success emailing them?
  11. thanks for the info. One last question!! we were wondering what to do about music for the ceremony. Did you take a CD or hire some kind of musician?? Im thinking some kind of live music would be better. Do you know what is available?
  12. Just heard that as of 1st may 2010 all visitors to cuba must have travel medical insurance THAT IS RECOGNIZED BY THE CUBAN GOVERNMENT ! A list of acceptable companies has not yet been made available so anyone traveling soon should hold of buying insurance incase its not valid! Anyone ith insurance they dont accept must purchase their insurance on arrival in cuba (cost not known).
  13. Thanks for the info,my other half is asking if hair dryers and straighteners work ok out there?
  14. Thats really bad,did you get any good photos taken by a guest? We are not having their photographer either but one of our guests is ok with a camera so she is doing most of them, the rest we are relying on other guests to take-photos are important but not so important to us to pay their dodgy professional to take them! Hope you get some good ones-would you say that if that issue didnt happen it would have been good
