I was shocked at the prices and called many TAs for a better price.. but it just didn't get much lower.
However, for anyone thinking about Iberostar Tucan, I'll take this opportunity to chime in a little... My wife and I Loved the resort, and location and everything. But most of all, the Wedding coordinator, Gabriella, and her team were Outstanding!! Everything was taken care of and went as smooth as possible. Now, of course i don't know what else to compare this to, but I really felt that the wedding day was the most relaxing day of the trip. start to finish, everything was spectacular.
Yes the resort does cost a bit more, but it's worth it for a wedding.
Good for kids, with the jungle animals and huge pool.
These is only 1 resort to the south of the Tucan, and then Open beach.. which makes for less traffic on the Tucan Beach.
Food was great, Great location in Playacar community.
A+ staff! -
Thanks for the replies everyone.
I think I've come to terms with the fact that I'll be paying up front.
The photographers I'm deciding between have pretty good reputations.
Also, I am sure they would like to keep their reputations good.

Hi, I am a little confused about how to go about paying photographers.
I am getting married in the Mayan Riviera. The wedding will be on a Thursday, and we will be leaving on the Saturday. I don't think that is enough time for the photographer to get the prints or the edited images to us before we leave.
My problem is that i don't want to pay for a service/product that i haven't received, and then leave the country.... What if I don't receive the images/photos? (whether it's cause by lost in the mail, or photographer doesn't send..) Is it possible for the photographer to process the images quickly? or alternatively can I hold back the payment until the product is received? I don't mind leaving a credit card number with the photographer, or even with the wedding coordinator.. can someone explain the 'normal' process in a situation like this?
AHR in Niagara Region
in At Home Reception (AHR)

Hi, the Wife and I got married in Mayan Riviera in January, and are now trying to plan our AHR in Niagara Falls. We are looking for an indoor/outdoor venue on August 1st. We will probably have around 100 people. We are thinking a afternoon/Dinner setup.
We will be moving across the country from Vancouver the week before, so we are looking to keep it as economical as possible and have friends offering to do Catering and Music for low costs.
Looking for Venue suggestions that are low cost yet pretty nice, indoor/outdoor.
Also open to suggestions for catering.
