Hi Jen,

For me the DJ isn't one of my highest priorities, so we are just going to plug in our ipod (we were at a DW this past Jan. where the couple did that and it worked out great!). But, if that's something that's really important to you then I'd say, yes, bring in someone else who you know will understand your requests. That will be one less worry for you on your big day :)

Hi Iberostar Brides,

I have been doing research for our DW in April 2010 and have narrowed it down to the RIU Yucatan and the Iberostar Tucan. Anybody have any insight between these two?

The RIU has awesome wedding packages but the Iberostar rates better on Tripadvisor. One of my concerns is the photographer at the Iberostar. I have read mixed reviews about them. If you have any info that would be great!

I hope all of you are enjoying you planning. It is a lot of work. Anyway, I look forward to sharing info.

Thanks

Trina

I am very happy with my decision on the Iberostar Tucan. I am very excited and think it will be wonderful. The thing I thought was the best was the Tucan only hosts one wedding per day. I am not sure about RIU Yucatan but that was important to me!

Is anyone having a reception where you are renting out a restaurant? I am just curious to hear opinions about the restaurants. I will probably have about 55-60 people and thinking of the Tropical restaurant. Thoughts? Also, anyone host a welcome party? I am looking for ideas. THANKS!

Hey Ladies.

I know this thread hasn't been active for a while, but I'm hoping maybe someone can help me. I've asked the WC these questions, but I'm having a hard time getting an answer.

We don't have 50 guests, so we can't have a private dinner. Did any of you do this? Did they separate you, or did you feel like you were on display for everyone else eating? We're planning on the steakhouse.

Also, did you do a reception at the disco or beach bar? We're leaning toward the beach bar, but I would like some more details. Was the music loud enough to dance? Do you think your guests enjoyed it?

Any help will be Greatly appreciated!! Thanks Ladies. :)

Hey!

I am also looking to book at the Iberostar Tucan...but the price I got from my TA has dissapointed me. Do you mind if I ask what your guests are paying for a week including airfair? My quote was over $2000 with taxes incl.
I need something to compare to!

Thanks for any help you can give me!

I know that the prices are very different based on airfare. We had a direct charter flight and stayed for 10 days and it was about $2500/person. One of our guests flew from South Carolina, stayed 5 days and paid under $700 after insurance & taxes! I think that the time of year has something to do with the prices as well. But I am no expert. :)

Hi,

I am getting married at the Tucan October 28, 2010. My biggest concern right now is gettinga reasonable quote for my 50+ guests. So far the lowest quote for double occupany I've received is $1575 with taxes. This will be our first time in Mexicoa and at an all-inclusive resort. Is this a fair price given the resorts rating and the time of the year? I really have my heart set on this resort and have already been in contact with Gabriela.

Hey,

I am in the same boat as you...really have my heart set on the Tucan, but am trying to find a good price. I originally wanted the price to be around 1300 per person, but It is looking like that might not be possible.

Your price is decent I think. I have not been able to get a quote that low yet, for Feb/March 2011. The only reason I would keep fishing for a lower price at that time is that October is during Hurricane season I believe.

Do you mind me asking who got you the lowest quote?

Kristen

Thanks!

Kristen

Hey Kristen,

I got my quote from our wedding coordinator from Weddings In The Tropics. Weddings in the Tropics --- Wedding Vacation Gateways They are based in Toronto.

It took us a really long time to get to this quote. The TA we got the quote from came highly recommended. The first meeting we had with her was great. After the second phone call though, it felt like we had to push her to follow up with us. Ultimately its the lowest quote so far.

Just to be on the safe side, we asked her to give us a quote for the Grand Palladium White Sands and Bahia Principe Akumal. So far these two resorts are more in our price range.

Thanks! I appreciate the info!

I tried following up again last night with my TA, and she said that the Signiature rep told her they are not even releasing their 2011 price list until July!! I can't believe that...

I think I'd better start looking elsewhere...although I really don't want to sad.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
