Happy holidays to all KimmyG - yes, the RPRM has free wireless internet in their lobby area. You can even pick up a signal in the Habana lobby bar.

Lisa - Chili's has some great views of the ocean and seemed a bit more informal. Bota Fogo looked more elegant and opens to the courtyard area. The spa is in the same building as the fitness/wellness equipment.

Lisa and Josie - I did not know any of that information! It seems rather odd for an AI to charge for any kind of drink.. I wonder if you can somehow get bottles of alcohol somewhere and make your own cocktails! I'm sure that wouldn't be permitted though. Hopefully you two can get some sort of deal worked out with the resort.

shellk - We went the last week of March. We were hoping to miss most of the spring breakers, but there really weren't any there. The weather was perfect! Mid to upper 80's in the day and low 70's at night. It only rained one day we were there too. We couldn't have asked for better weather

Paige - Thank you! I saw it in the past pages of this post! It has a ton of info, you're right. Very helpful. I can't get too set on anything, as it will probably be 2 years until I get married and who knows what might change before then!

Lisa - If you are wanting to put something personalized in your OOT bag, like mugs, glasses, pens, keychains etc, I found that Discount Mugs has a lot of great items for pretty cheap

Paige2010 - It is about an hours drive south from the resort It's not too bad of a drive though, there's a lot of scenery to look at along the way! Plus our van's tour guide had a ton of interesting facts about Xel-Ha and Tulum!

KimmyG - The houses were within walking distance When you come out of the RPRM turn left and walk down that street and you will see many gorgeous houses! There is also a little shopping area called Playacar Plaza about 10 minutes down the road to the left. If you turn right coming out of the resort, walk for 25 minutes and you will be on 5th avenue. 5th ave is great for shopping and eating and drinking! As for the red flags, they did not keep me from the water! It was a little rough, but I only went out about waist deep and I was fine. We booked our trip to Xel-Ha through a local vendor in the Playacar Plaza Cheaper than at the resort! Plus you can try talking them down in price a bit if you feel up to it. We only tried two specialty restaurants, Yashima (Japanese) and Krystal (fusion). We enjoyed both so much! It's such an upscale atmosphere and the foot is top quality. The wedding we saw didn't have any live music, and we didn't see any of the reception. The beach was windy, but much less windy up on the level where the wedding was. It's much windier down close to the water. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you for the compliments josie, jetsbride, and shellk! It was an amazing trip! Shellk, The highlight of our trip to the RPRM had to be the amazing service and friendliness of the staff there! They made us feel like royalty We never had to do anything for ourselves. We did tip, just a small amount like 1 or 2 dollars, but it was very appreciated by the staff! As for Xel-Ha, I highly recommend it! Do the full day, as a half day wouldn't be enough time! They have amazing snorkeling, cliff diving, rope swings, inner tubing, and underground caves. We were also deciding between Xel-Ha and Xcaret, but are very happy we did Xel-Ha! You definitely won't be disappointed

Hello all! I'm new to this board and I've finally gotten through all 109 pages of this post! I have to say it was one of the most helpful threads on here I am not yet engaged, but my boyfriend and I have been dating for 2 and a half years and we've already started discussing what we'd like for a wedding. Both of us fell in love with Playa earlier this year when we stayed at the RPRM and we decided that we would love to get married there! So I'm just here to get as much info as possible before we start planning. Thank you to everyone who has already shared their stories! The resort we stayed at last time was the Riu Palace Riviera Maya, and I am pretty much set on that resort for a wedding too The Royal is a wonderful resort as well, but we like the resorts in the Playacar community best. KittenHeart - I'm a big planner too! I've been reading the posts here about the Riu Palace RM and I'm kind of concerned about the WC not contacting you until 2 months before the wedding! I'm sure it will all be worth it though

Hello everyone! I stumbled across this forum while trying to get some info on Destination weddings, and it seems like the best one! I'm not actually engaged yet, but my boyfriend and I have been looking at rings and we both decided we wanted to do a destination wedding in Playa del Carmen, Mexico when we do get engaged We took a trip there earlier this year in March and we both fell in love! We're looking at going back early next year also. Anyway, I'm just here to get as much info as possible, so thanks in advance for all of your help! -Lorie
