  1. Hey ladies!

SO I sent out some PM's earlier this week to those who emailed me with interest in items first.  I haven't heard back from any of you except for one, and since there has still been interest in the items I will hold items for those I have sent PM's until Wednesday, March 30.  If I haven't heard from you by then, I will start sending out a second round of PM's.  If you sent me a message, I have it! :)  You will hear from me by Thursday evening if items you were interested in become available :)

  2. Wow.  I read the notice on HDC's facebook one day and was shocked!  As per the notice about about no charge, I would suggest double checking that part, since we were required to pay for a "day pass" for our photog (HDC).  It is great that they are going to allow outside photographers from outside.  I would have been beyond pissed if that had happened to any of you!

**Updated as of April 18th, 9:00pm, all items listed are available, sold items have been removed.**

    Hi all you BDW'ers!

I finally got the time to take inventory of what stuff I have from the wedding and what I need to sell.  My husband keeps threatening me to get it out of the bedroom corner... haha!  For anything you would like to know more about, please send me a PM for pictures or just more info, There are so many things here it would really clog up the forum to add pictures of everything!

All of my prices are in USD.

Davidâ€s Bridal wedding dress – bought it from someone else but it has never been worn, and the tags are still attached.  It is a size 10, very small train, Ivory in color.  Loved the dress but I found something that looked almost like my ceremony dress to use for my TTD instead. -$100

28 orange chair sashes, with a very slight metallic sheen if looked at up close otherwise not even noticeable (can send pics of my ceremony if desired) - $25

    14 real starfish, 3"-4" - $10  - spoken for at the moment

8 hot pink 10" paper lanterns - $8  - spoken for at the moment

    10 orange 14" paper lanterns - $10

"Destination Wedding for Dummies" book - $8

23 small starfish charms - $9 - spoken for at the moment

5 badge holders (great for carryall keychain) - $3

11 luggage tag holders without loops - $5

    49 luggage tag loops - $7

    9 individual size Shout wipes - $4

    7 Advil liqui-gels, 2-pack size - $3

    24 SPF33 sunscreen, 140ml (basically full-size tube) - $16 - spoken for at the moment

4 packs of iron-on individual rhinestones (each pack has 198 rhinestones) - $5 each or all for $18

1 "groomsman" iron-on transfer (white, velvet to the touch) - $6

1 pack of corsage pins, pearl tip, 48 pcs. in a pack (useful if making own bouquets) - $2

favor boxes - 1 box of 10pcs wedding dress shape; 1 box of 10pcs tux shape; 1 box of 10 pcs box with bells; $1 each

As well, we have a menâ€s XL “Body Glove†wetsuit here that we forgot to take with us when we left, and my husband says he will not use now.  It is still new with tags, is just above the elbow and to the knee.  Would let this go for about $50, so make me an offer! J

  4. When we did ours, we needed a group of guests to book right away to get a group rate. However, when anyone else booked they could just contact our agent and say they were part of our group, and they could book at their own pace (up until 45 days before).  I hope I understood you properly?

    1. Did you bring a cake from your resort or order one thru La Barcaza? Since our cake was included in the wedding package fro our resort, we had it boxed and took it with us on the bus.  We told our wedding coordinator ahead of time that this was our intention and they were great about it!

    2. Did you tell your guests to bring a change of clothes for the water piece? We let our guests know that there would be an opportunity to take a dip if they chose, and to bring a change with them.

    3. Was it chilly at all on the water? And if so, did you tell your guests to wear a light jacket or anything?  Honestly, it really wasn't for us, but we were also there July 1st (maybe this made a difference?).  The breeze felt good!

    4. Did you bring favors on board and if so, any good ideas that ties into the boat?  Ok so here was something that I wish I had known.  We didn't know that the boat would provide a centrepiece on the tables.  I'm not sure if they did this because we only had a couple big tables, so perhaps check with Flori ahead of time.  We brought our own down with us to Dominican, and this was actually completely unnecessary!  The centrepieces they had on the tables were sunken orchids, which was GORGEOUS!  We brought our chair sashes with us and all of the girls quickly tied them on together.  You can give those things to Flori when you meet her at your resort, but since we were using them at our ceremony, we couldn't hand them over.  We also brought table runners, but we really didn't need them.  In fact, it kind of blew around when we were cruising along, so maybe don't have them unless you are dead set on having them :)  We didn't use white tablecloths, since we wanted a very casual feel!  To be honest, the boat is gorgeous and the atmosphere is fantastic, I don't think extra deco is necessary.... but like I said, if you really want it, make sure that things you use are tied down ;)

    Thanks for any help!!!!!!

Ok, I can speak to this, for the Himitsu anyway.  My husband and I went with our entire group to the Chinese section of himitsu one night, and he had his wedding sandals with linen capris and a button down shirt.  The capris were NOT acceptable, they didn't mention the sandals!  Actually, they didn't want to let him in.  So (being the smart a*s that he is) he shimmied his capris down his butt, and stood kinda hunched over and said "how about now?" and they said YES.  honestly, ridiculous.

I believe he did wear closed toe shoes to the bordeaux when we went, I think that was just a coincidence though so I'm not sure....

GREAT CHOICE ON THE HUPPAH!  Unreal, loved it!

  9. I didn't do a review... I know shame on me! sad.gif I just never got around to it... If you are looking for any type of pictures in particular PM me and I will send some your way! rolleyes.gif  As far as my hair, I could describe both of them and I'm sure there aren't two girls who do hair who look the same as them!  PS: The spa does AMAZING work for pedicures/manicures... one of the girls in there did my french manicure on my toes the day before leaving, and she did it FREEHAND, no tracing, nothing and it stayed on for so long, longer than any pedicure I've had in Canada!

Hi Jenny, when we were going to do the civil ceremony, it took about 3 weeks, and of course I was freaking out lol but the WC really will get back to you as soon as she knows :) Rest assured!

Also a bride who recently got married at DPC posted a ton of pictures on the Dreams Punta Cana Brides Facebook page. She has pictures of her ceremony at the Gazebo,  professional beach shots and of her reception on the Himitsu Terrace.

I see someone posted the email for the concierge... the head of concierge's name is Aida Cabrera (it was in June anyway!) and she is AMAZING to deal with... we arranged to have a cake, champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, a banner and balloons in my MOH's room (a small fee for the champagne and chocolates of course), and she had it DONE :)  I should add that we arrived at midnight, and it was all in there before she got there, fresh and the champagne was cold!  AMAZING!

  10. My bridesmaid and I both had our hair done there, and both of our styles looked amazing, and very very close to what we picked out!  My bridesmaid was more intricate, she had a french braid down behind her ear and then it was curled and stuff, mine was mostly a poof in front with all the curls piled in the back... I STRESSED about my hair before I went, but when I got there it just didn't matter as much anymore! :)

I'm getting married on January 12, 2011, and can't wait!

I have a few questions and I wonder if anyone can help...for those of you who have already been married there.

We have specific music that we have picked out for our beach wedding.  So prelude/processional and recessional, as well as music to play well the guests are seated....after the recessional.  We will have this all on our ipod.  Do they have speakers on the beach to do this?  If so, who plays the songs on the ipod for you??

After the ceremony, do they hand out champagne immediately for all the guests?

Also, for the reception, we have the himitsu terrace booked (we wanted the bordeax but had too many ppl sad.gif ).  We plan on having all the music preset up on our ipod, and would like to have a dance after the dinner.  Is there a dance floor on the terrace?  Also, do you have to rent the speakers at an extra charge?  Is there a microphone available for the m.c?smile41.gif

Any help you ladies can provide would be great!!!

Agree with Ash on all of that!  Actually, my husband and I barely got a chance to have our champagne since we were on a tight schedule for pictures and to get to the bus for our reception on the boat.  We also had the caribbean trio, which was a HIT!  They were awesome.  I saw many brides who used iPods though and it was also gorgeous!  The speakers are on the beach, and you use the mic to speak into for your vows, which was nice!  The speakers were free on the beach, but like Ash said I'm pretty sure they are about $110 to rent for the reception.

As well, I couldn't agree more about El Patio.  My reaction was "THAT'S where a reception woudl be?" It would be fine for just a dinner, even though like Ash said everyone could watch you if they really wanted to (lol) but for dancing, it doesn't seem like it would work there at all!

Hmm... you mean you want to just get together for drinks, or have an actual cocktail served?  I'm not sure what the cost would be for a cocktail hour type thing, maybe someone else can help with that!  But if you are looking to get together for drinks, there is a bar adjacent to the gazebo (I think its called the Veranda) in the San Domingo Plaza that would be great, lots of room and little tables.  65 people would be a lot for the bordeaux terrace, but it probably COULD be done!

I am at 24 days...and 9 more days of work.  Short of dying, I don't feel that I am going to make it.  Most of my plans are all in place.  My job has been crazy busy lately and in addition to the wedding, I am so excited for a vacation!!!!

I wish I was going back, I was going crazy at 24 days and positively FREAKING OUT once I was done work (which was actually only the Friday before we left... which was on a Monday).  You will have a great time, don't worry about what you will forget or remember to bring, it will be great no matter what!

Another suggestion that I have for brides who might do the sand ceremony.  B and I did yours in front of our guests, and then it got wrecked in the travel process (even though we carried it on).  What I recommend you do is doing the ceremony in front of your guests, and taking a little bit of beach sand home with you in a bottle in your suitcase, and re-doing it at home.  None of our guests were ever the wiser! wink.gif

  12.

    Hey ladies!

I haven't posted in here forever, but I see there are a bunch of new brides!! yay!!  I was married in July, for anyone who doesn't know, and we had our reception off of the resort on a catamaran style boat called "La Barcaza"... it was AMAZING and everyone at our wedding still talks about how unreal it was.  If anyone wants any info about it I have A LOT... haha

For those who can fit their party on the Bordeaux terrace, it is BEAUTIFUL :)  We went to eat there 4 times in our 2 weeks, and one night everyone sat on the terrace and had drinks.  Gorgeous!  The Himitsu is also pretty, and would be better if you are planning to do the whole dancing thing and you have a lot of people.  It has a great view of the gazebo and the grounds, but just be aware that people coming in and out of the Japanese/Chinese restaurant can see everything thats going on during your reception.  At the Bordeaux I noticed they put up this kind of palm tree looking wall between the edge of the terrace and the stairs other people use for the restaurant, so it makes it a little more intimate.  Any way you shake it, you will have a FABULOUS time!  I miss it, I wish I could go back!

  13. To add to the photographer talk, it is 79$ for a wedding pass for them.  I would also recommend that when you meet the WC upon arrival, request that they call the photogapher the morning of your ceremony to confirm arrival time and whatnot.  My photog was late and didn't communicate well the day before the ceremony and the day of so I had to have the WC intervene about an hour and a half befroe the ceremony.  Save yourself the stress and have the WC do it from the get-go!

  14. Hey!  First time posting in here... but I finished "The Book of Negroes" by Lawrence Hill and I thought I would rave about it... I want to read it AGAIN! lol

Now I'm on to a book called "A long way gone" by Ishmael Beah, very good and a true story :)

  15. Sherri,\I will measure the fuschia shoes that  bought and wore ONCE. LOL  What size foot are you?

Jen- you know what, it does suck when people can't make it.  It's awful in fact, but something kind of funny happens in the process... you will ALSO see how much people care for you and how far they are willing to go to participate in your special day!  :)  I was very humbled by that fact, even though my group wasn't huge (20 in total).

As far as the arrangement flowers, they are on my other computer, but hopefully someone can get them to you!  For the groomsmen, B bought them engraved flasks and sunglasses, so that they all had the same for the pictures.  It turned out to be a great idea, and looked awesome!
