  1. My colors were a bright orange and bright fuschia. I think the yellow/black/white mix is super pretty - but maybe more befitting of a water-themed wedding (perhaps on a yacht or at a marina?

  2. Hmmm...does this apply to ALL locations outside of the country? We are going to St. Lucia, not Mexico.

We were also planning on splitting all of the items into two bags so that my parents could take one and we could take the other. None of the items purchased have a receipt value of over $300. The closest we have come is for our embroidered towels but the total for that was $241.

Thanks for all of your replies, ladies!

  3. Hi Ladies!

I have been reading alot of threads that mention having to bring receipts for the items that you have packed away to put into your guests OTT gift bags once at your resort. Many of these threads mention using faux-receipts too.

Why do you HAVE to bring these receipts?

Why are faux receipts the best to use? What is the minimum dollar amount that must be stated in order to NOT have to pay taxes on customs?

What happens if you do not HAVE these receipts?

Any advice you can offer will be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

  4. Hey there! Congratulations! I used to work in New Rochelle...are you getting married on Davonport avenue? They have a TON of gorgeous wedding locations right on the water!

Best of luck with the planning! December isnt that far away!

  5. Unfortunately, I do not have any personal experience with Blurb yet. I am planning on having an album made out of my BD pictures as a gift to my future husband!

I have the book template all laid out already. I am just waiting to go on the photo shoot (scheduled for July 11th) and then when I receive my digital CD I will upload the pictures I want to have printed...and go from there!

I am looking forward to hearing what other BDW members think of these two sites! From what I have read/heard elsewhere, the Blurb books are great quality!

  6. We are getting married in St. Lucia. We are staying at an all inclusive Sandals Resort (the Sandals Grande St. Lucian) and with our stay, all of the top shelf alcohol is included.

For our wedding reception, we are paying $150 per person for a privately prepared and beachside catered 4 course meal next to the ceremony site.

    Hope that helps!

  7. hi there, Deltachic!

Unfortunately, I do not have any pictures or links to add...but your theme sounds beautiful! I also wanted to let you know that we are date twins! I too am getting married on 9/19/2009 in St. Lucia!

    Hi there, Daroc78!

I am using a bright fuschia (bright pink) and bright orange with accents of lime green as our color palette!

I totally agree that a wine and beer bar would be a GREAT alternative! You may even be able to reduce the cost by supplying the alcohol yourself. Put wine openers at the table, perhaps, and maybe you could avoid having to pay the corking fee.

Another alternative suggestion would be to have the OPEN BAR turn CASH BAR after you have exceeded a pre-set limit.

If you and your Fiance could swing it, you could put X dollars towards the bar and then when your guests reach that pre-set limit the bar turns into a cash bar. I went to a graduation party recently where they did this. I have also went to a wedding recently where it was an OPEN BAR...and of course all the guests - starting at 1pm - were drinking top shelf liquor...and the bar bill ended up almost costing THREE times the amount of the reception itself.

    Yikes!
  10. Hi Chickadee!

I have heard wonderful things about the resort you are staying at! Have a wonderful time, have an AMAZING wedding - and I am super excited to hear all about your amazing wedding/honeymoon upon your return!

Congratulations on your new wedding dress! Your fourth and final! I too have had two dresses (the most recent, a Jessica McClintock purchased yesterday) and I know exactly what you mean about not feeling like a bride or having a dress - purchased online - not flatter your figure!

Have a wondeful time...a safe flight...and an incredible vacation!

  11. I am getting married at the Sandals Grande St. Lucian in September. Because my FI and I wanted an evening wedding, we opted for Preston Baileys Sunset Caribbean Wedding. Otherwise, our only choices for ceremony times were 9am, 10am and 12pm. Too hot.

But yes, I do agree that $120 per person at an AI resort PLUS an additional $1000 for two tables is a bit much. Hopefully, everything will be perfect! We shall see. I will update once it is all said and done!

I emailed the company asking if they would send me a sample of their white linen, beige linen and wood colored linen.

Are you going to order the vest as well? I kind of like the look of the 3pc suit, plus, when the jacket comes off...there will still be a bit of formailty with the vest!

I am SO excited about the sharing of that thread.

Did the suit come perfectly tailored in terms of size and fitting?
