short sleeves under a suit?
SDbeachgirl replied to SDbeachgirl's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Thanks ladies! I like your answers. I was starting to question this but now I feel much better. -
Has anyone used this company for a catamaran cruise?

This was in front of the entrance to the club. We saw it on our visit and it was actually pretty nice. There's not a whole lot in the background though. It would be perfect if it overlooked the water.

We got lucky and no one was staying next to us. But it is like one big deck with some bamboo in between separating the different rooms. I don't know if the other decks are more private. Do we get the honeymoon suite? I just booked a garden view room.

This is weird. Did she say why she suggested 5pm?? I am getting married in May (7:15 sunset) and I originally wanted a 5:30 ceremony. Ana suggested 6pm instead. I wasn't sure about that, but actually it is consistent with something I read on a photographer's website. So I guess I am ok with it. It just feels like I am cutting it close. Hopefully the ceremony starts on time!

Have you found any cheaper transportation to Cancun? I am looking into this today because Jose quoted me at $350 round trip for everyone. He also said we could snorkel, I just think I am going to keep it at the 3 hour sunset cruise. I am also talking with a company called Cancun Catamarans. The owner of this also owns a transportation company. He quoted $75 round trip for 14 people. So I would probably need 3 shuttles. That is $225. I don't know if that deal is only good if I go with them for the catamaran cruise. I then started thinking that it might be best to go with the same company as the cruise. This way if the transpo is late for any reason, they would probably be more willing to adjust their time. Whereas if you go with a different transp company and you are late...then what happens? I'm paranoid that way. I want everything to be perfect, so I am just thinking that I might pay the $350 (If I go with Marina Cancun). He said the boat is 44 ft. Supposedly it holds 40 people. It didn't look that big in the pictures, but I guess it is just hard to tell. How many people are you planning on having?

They quoted me the following: ********Regarding the Catamaran sunset cruise you kindly requested, I can offer the following option: - ANTARES, Catamaran (see attached image), with capacity up to 40 people. I can provide the service for 3 hours at $275.00 USD per hour or 4 hours at $240.00 USD , and the additional hour is $220.00 USD (minimum 4 hours). Tips (10%) for the crew are NOT included. It includes continental open bar and dry snacks. Please, consider $5.00 USD for the Marine Park fee for the people that would like to go snorkeling. Why 4 hours minimum?...just have in mind that we will be sailing most of the time, so you really start to enjoy the trip from the 2nd hour and when you get to the 3rd hour you will really be having a lot of fun!!!!******** I sent an email back to them inquiring about daytime catamarans, I am starting to think maybe a snorkeling cruise would be more enjoyable for my guests, although I still like the idea of a romantic sunset cruise. This company seems to be a better deal than the others, and they hold more people. I will let you know what I hear back from them. This is funny! He must have copied the same text into my email. I have been in touch with this company too and am considering using them from 4:30 -7:30 for a 7:15 sunset. He has been very responsive.

Has anyone used Marina Cancun or Cancun Catamarans? We are going to be in Puerto Morelos and Paradise Catamarans is a bit of a drive. Cancun is only about 30 mins from us.
-
Thank you! This is what I plan to do also. I will include info on our website (assuming people will go onto it) however, I want enough info included with our info in case they do not want to go onto the website ( you know...those older folks, ha!) Are you adding information that the cruise will be paid for? I don't want anyone to hesitate to mark off the box because they don't know how much it will cost them. Also, I want to know how many are planning on going. Something like this? It doesn't sound right. I have such a hard time with the wording. ___ Si! Save me a beach chair! ---->> ___ Number joining us for a sunset sail.

WOW the deck was HUGE! Living Room/Dining Room/Bedroom/Changing Area/Bar/and Butlers area! Bathroom shower quite small for how big the rooms were. A few things: The resort is beautiful- a bit big and felt a bit lost but beautiful grounds! Dont love the fact you have to wear a wrist band (feel like I am bk in my old Cancun days!) I really didnt care for the fact you have to make reservations to restaurants in advance. They were less than 50% occupied and couldnt fit us in at 8pm to the french restaurant (we had to have 7pm reservations) Kathythe sales manager was FANTASTIC! Cant tell you how on top of it she was except for the fact she forgot to mention we needed to reserve our chairs at the beach in Royal Service, We never met our butler because they were "a bit busy" they said. A bellman took us to our room. We didn't care then but it was a concern for our wedding and our guests that would be staying. Confused as to why they dont offer Oceanview Family Conceriage service.. Service at French Restaurant was pretty bad- waiter had an attitude, Pete doesnt drink wine so I didnt want to buy a bottle and he didnt even offer me a house wine (the woman next to me overheard conversation and told me I could get it- so then I asked) Wasnt very busy maybe 7 tables in the entire restaurant. Appetizers were EXCELLENT! Meals weren't that great- overcooked steak and fish. I asked for medium and it came well done. Couldn't even finish it. Dessert was great and waiter that brought us dessert was very sweet! We didnt tip our waiter- 1st time ever! I always tip! I felt bad telling Kathy since she comped us our room but we were quite surprised! Breakfast and lunch was great- service was wonderful! Scarce service at beach. I was asked if I wanted a drink once in 4hrs. I had to go to the beach bar that wasn't far though. I love the fact we can have a sit down dinner here. Table set up is great- good food choices. They said they could probably do surf & turf as well as chicken dish. I like this alot! I loved the fact that they were willing to work with us on all aspects. Welcome Party-comped as well as Rehearsal din at restaurant wouldnt be an issue. Plus other comps... I LOVE THIS... (This is why we are leaning towards Paradisus; but still not sure) will talk to Ana at DRC to see what they could do for us. Dreams was excellent- loved the rooms..as well as the FOOD-Trendy restaurants EXCELLENT FOOD AND SERVICE! This place would be my 1st choice.. Decor of the hotel itself- lounge chairs all over resort. desires outside deck is beautiful for Welcome Party (fits 80). Great space in case it rains for wedding ceremony. I do NOT like ballroom floor (red) but she said we could have wedding reception in whatever closed restaurant if it rains. I liked that everything was pretty much together, not super far walks to get to everything. Nice gym and spa! Very new and clean! Cute coffee bar! Master Suite is amazing on left side where the wedding will be held by the end of the year! I think its room 1200s?? We also loved Governor Suite and PRESIDENTIAL SUITE WAS AMAZING! she said she would see if mgmt would let use for wedding night and she would check on rate. Hope this helps! We are leaning towards DRC but cant help but take a look at the huge savings of paradisus. My friend got married there and has RAVED about the service and staff! So we will work with Ana and decided! We will have over 80 guests staying at the resort.. Good luck ladies.. Its a tough call!! Thanks for the review! I think you should go with DRC...but then I am a little biased ; ) I actually walked into Paradisius while I was doing my site visit. I didn't think the style of the hotel was as nice. Weren't there some rooms that didn't face the pool or the ocean? That's just how it looked to me. Maybe I am wrong. I did like the fact that they had more beach chairs available than DRC. I don't know what that was all about. The whole "chair issue" really frustrated me at DRC. I think I have heard it has gotten better. Did you happen to have an issue with people reserving chairs at 6am? Anyhow, good luck on your decision. Hopefully you decide to stay at DRC so you can continue to plan with us

Thanks for finding this out! I was not so lucky He tried to look at availability on 2 nights and there were not any boats that would be able to sail into Puerto Morelos. I feel as though 50 mins is too far to travel to their actual location. Bummer! Anyhow, so now I am on the hunt for a catamaran charter company. I found one tonight that is docked in Cancun. This is about 30 mins away...so it is a little closer. Cancun Catamarans, Cancun Catamaran Tours, Cancun Sailing, Sailboats in Cancun, Yachts and Deep Sea Fishing Charters. If there are 32 or less people they have a great luxury catamaran for $330/hr. This includes drinks and dry snacks. If there are more than 32 people then you have to go with this bigger boat and unfortunately you have to pay for 4 hours whether you use it or not. I think it is $1100. If I have 34 or 35 I may see if we can squeeze on there...ha! That is $660 is such a good deal! They can supply transportation. He quoted me $75/bus (holds 14 people). I think that is round trip but I am confirming. They do not dock at Puerto Morelos. I can't seem to find any companies that do.

I would do this for most things but I would like to get a head count prior to the trip so that I make sure there are enough peoiple who want to go or so that I can reserve a bigger catamaran if needed.

We are hoping to charter a catamaran the night before our wedding. Any suggestions on how I can add this to my invitations? I would need to add something to the RSVP card and to the Information sheet. Just curious if anyone has done anything similar. I know it is common to schedule group outings and brunch's etc... How did you let your guests know the plans?

I can't tell the difference in location or attributes from the photos! Help! I will have dinner on the pool deck. It is an actual wooden deck and sits just below the pool. There is a little waterfall that forms over the infinity pool. When the lights are on it, it looks blue. Very pretty. The pool terrace is on the cement where the pool chairs are located during the day. I think it would be pretty too but it is a larger area and it might seem kind of big if there are only 30 or 40 people. That's just my opinion.

I did not include the alcohol is the price. I am still debating about that. I think for 2 hours we could just cruise along the water without any alcohol (plus I am worried that if people drink too much the night before the wedding... and if we are at an all-inclusive they will probably already be drunk!). I haven't been able to find any other sunset cruises... I am still waiting to hear back from a few companies. I think I will look into other transportation as well. It is about an hour away from the hotel, so I thought $350 was a pretty reasonable rate for all 40 people. Ultimately I would have liked to find a company closer (Puerto Morelos would be perfect) but I have not been able to! Email them and ask if they will come to Puerto Morelos. Today I asked them and they said that sometimes they are able to. They are still looking into this on my date. They have not confirmed anything yet. I would be so happy if they were able to. They said it will take a few days to figure it out. Now I'm putting off my invites until I hear back from them so I can include this information. I got really excited and will be bummed out now if they are unable to meet my request. I'm not sure my guests will want to drive for an hour each way

I'm looking for an ivory or off white short sleeve button up shirt with wooden or coconut shell buttons to match the groomsmen shirts. I can't find one! Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can find this? I don't know if it is just seasonal and maybe they are not in the stores yet...but I can't believe it is this hard to find.

The straps are silver with a circle of rhinestones in the center.

Sail, swim, snorkel, parasail, and enjoy the Mayan Riviera with Paradise Catamarans. Our private catamaran charters make every outing a memorable event. I love this idea! I was going to do this originally and then I had changed my mind because I was going to do the rehearsal dinner in the wine room at DRC. But now you got me thinking about how much more fun and relaxed this would be and we would include all guests (or at least all that wanted to join us). But this one is down in Puerto Adventuras. How far away is that? I thought it was a bit of a drive. Also, where did you get that it was $25 pp pincluding transpo? I figure for 30 people $700 + $300 (for drinks) + transpo. I'm thinking of seeing if the resort has a cheaper transpo price.

2 questions: 1. Is it too difficult to hear the guitar on the beach with the wind? 2. Are there any good suggestions for songs that can be played during the processional on a guitar?

Actually my groomsmen will look just like yours. Actually, it is so funny because I just bought shoes that look identical to yours. Except instead of Alda, they are Baby Phat. I am just now viewing your slideshow because I was still uncertain about the shoes and was not sure how the brown leather bottoms would look. They look beautiful on you ...so I'm happy Hopefully they will look good with my dress. I may have to try them on with it tonight! Thanks for posting!
