  1. Our price included airfare from Duluth, MN with a couple connections to Cancun. It also included shared non-stop transfers and travel insurance. So 10 nights at the Palace plus what I mentioned for $4200. I thought that was an amazing deal. Our travel agent (who is amazing and who we have gone through every year for the last 5 years) told us that prices drop drastically after Easter so maybe that's why it was a good price? The insurance that we purchased also covers a one-time-only "rebooking" if a cheaper deal comes up between now and then.
  2. We just booked our package to the Palace for 10 nights, 4/19 to 4/29/2010 (wedding on 4/24) and it cost us $4200 and that included our travel insurance and non-stop transfers from the airport. $7000 for a week doesnt sound right at all even if it is during the high season. We actually went for a week during high season this year (first week of March) and stayed at the Palace and paid the same as next year's 10 day trip ($4200). I would definitely get a second look at those prices before you book anything. good luck.
  3. Hey everyone, We haven't set a date yet because of booking airline packages a year out, but we are getting married at the Barcelo Maya resort in the Riviera Maya at the end of April next year! Have stayed at the Barcelo twice - at the Tropical and the Palace. It is so amazing there and we've seen the weddings in person. I couldn't have imagined it more beautiful. I'm really excited and looking forward to getting things rolling after we book the package. The unofficial Barcelo Maya website is awesome for past/future brides to post troubles, suggestions, etc. Any info you think would be helpful for me, please feel free to send me a message. My one concern at this point is the resort photographer. I've heard mixed reviews and I've seen a couple photo albums. I can't decide if they are what I'm looking for or if I should consider paying the $300 fee to bring in an outside photographer. If anyone has any links to the onsite photographer's albums, I would love that. I have seen their official website. Thanks! looking forward to this exciting year of planning!
