Welcome and conrats Stacey! I really suggest you read through the original Barcelo Maya Palace bride thread! I know it is super long but it has the answers to all the questions you asked and will make you think about things you haven't even realized you needed to think about! If one of your guests is a photographer you should tell your WC. If this person is already staying at the resort there is not much they can do. You should also tell the WC a head of time about the DJ. Hope this helps a little. -
I don't have a date set yet...It will really depend on what is cheepest. I was thinking Sept (nervous about hurricane season), Jan (too close to Christmas?) or March(more expensive). I am hoping my family will get over the destination thing soon. I just can't picture myself sitting in a hotel ballroom having the usual reception! Does everyone use a travel agent to book their weddings?

I live in Calgary Alberta and am looking for a travel agent to help me get this process started. Does anyone have someone they would recomend? Are there alternatives to going through a travel agent? Does using one greatly increase the cost? I desperately want to keep this as in expensive for my guests as possible!

Well I just got engaged to my best friend! He and I are pretty laid back so a destination wedding was our first choice (much to the dismay of my family). We have decided on the Mayan Riviera but that's all we know right now. I've already learned a ton reading your posts and am excited to start planning!
